Final Fantasy Tactics E9: The Taste of Lies [Zirekile Falls]

Ойындар

The day grows lovelier by the hour. Just like us, as we’re eavesdropping on a conspiracy, threatening a heretic brand, wonder which magic spell hurts the worst, rescuing a large bird from goblins, gouging eyes out, climaxing at a waterfall, realizing Gaffgarion’s true nature, writing the scenario in real time, refusing to step over dead guys, understanding class warfare but choosing to not care, denying filth of money, reasoning with each other in front of a waterfall, and understanding the church to be…the church. Do you so enjoy the taste of lies?

In the same boat here. I had a similar gameplay experience to Eric with the game until it finally clicked for me and loved the game since.

Boco is Wiegraf's chocobo, who you fight by the windmill at the end of act 1. Iirc, they do the thing that named guest characters do, where "killing" them has no timer so that they can't crystallise and permanently die in that fight. I don't think any character in the game actually realises this, though. One of the things I wish FFT did better was reactivity to named characters - once a character becomes playable, they mostly drop out of the story, because they become able to permanently die, and I guess they didn't have the inclination (or time/budget) to account for that.

Boco is the same Chocobo that you fought with Wiegraf at the windmill. He has a bit of a stat boost, too

A good man knows when he is wrong and can apologize for his mistakes but I wouldn't feel too bad about not knowing about Tears for Fears. If it makes you feel better, you can shout, shout, let it all out.

It's funny to hear Chris say he can't think of a game where job changes have lore explanations off the top of his head because all the others that have a job system doe (it's almost always crystals) and getting your job upgrade is a major part of FF1. Tactics really is the odd one out here, but they did kind of retain the idea of crystals transfering job knowledge by letting you learn skills from character crystals when they die.
