Final Fantasy Tactics E10: The Most Religious Man Available [Zaland Fort City]

Those who live by deceit are the first to die by it. Those who listen to this episode will hear tales of jumping in first-person, rescuing a pony-tailed squire, blinging the magic rocks, climbing walls and talking shit, bringing a gun to a wizard fight, realizing we’re in Final Fantasy XII’s future, losing patience with Mustadio, finding Christ without a crucifixion, creepin’ on some ladies, blowing grass, wishing for no quarrel, leaving us wroth, soiling our names, coddling the boy, sipping villainously, and wondering if Agrias is lost in the sauce. Ramza’s brain is discolored.

One of my favorite characters in my playthrough of Tactics from my original run of the game was a gun-wielding Black Mage named Fred. Every time I get a new Tactics save file, I make sure to recruit a Chemist named Fred and turn him into a gun-wielding Black Mage. On my most recent run I gave him the ability to teleport across the map. I love all the weird skills you can give Tactics characters and how customizable they ultimately become, and this is coming from a guy who is less gameplay-centric overall.

Another thing about Dycedarg's music, it's hidden in other songs as well. In the Sand Rats nest (song name is Night Attack) it plays around the 50 second mark. Small hint of him being involved in things early on.

Holy shit, I noticed this recurring leitmotif years ago but I always assumed it was "theme of the Lion War", "theme of plotting" or something along those lines. I didn't know the OST specifically identifies it with Dycedarg. Crazy how I'm still learning new things about the game over two decades later.

lol the opening made me laugh. Latino names can often have regional variations, so Elfira (el-FEE-ra) was likely a variation on Elvira. I can't say for sure but it sounds like it comes from Arabic, likely from the influence on Spanish of the Arab conquests of Spain

As far as the Ivalice timeline goes, there's a bit of an oddity if XII is supposed to be the first in the timeline. The character of Montblanc in Tactics Advance is a rookie mercenary looking to start his own guild, and over the course of Tactics Advance he becomes a successful guildleader alongside the protagonist. In FFXII, Montblanc is already a successful guild leader. So, I'd imagine, based on that, Tactics Advance would make more sense to be first in the timeline. My two cents. Also, lots of commentary from me today, I guess.

If it is considered canon (which I personally do) then Vagrant Story is the latest point on the Ivalice timeline and FFXII is the earliest. The truth of the matter is a bit sketchy though as _Matsuno said in 2004 that Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Final Fantasy XII unfold quite close on the map of Ivalice, a complex world with a long history and the stories._ however _in 2011, Matsuno stated that he never originally intended for Vagrant Story to take place in Ivalice. As a result, any references he had made of Final Fantasy Tactics in Vagrant Story, as well as Vagrant Story references in Final Fantasy XII, only serve as "fan service"._ (Wiki Ripped) Ivalice is never referred to in Vagrant Story but its setting of Valendia is mentioned in FFXII as part of the vast territory conquered by the first Dynast King (Ashe's ancestor) Raithwall. As to what the Tactics references are in Vagrant Story there are several - In the opening of the game you read the quote - _The body is but a vessel for the soul, a puppet which bends to the soul's tyranny. And lo, the body is not eternal, for it must feed on the flesh of others, lest it return to the dust from whence it came. Therefore must the soul deceive, despise and murder men. A.J. Durai._ This referring to Arazlam Durai, the man who in the framing device of Tactics released the true events of the game in the form of the Durai Report several centuries later. Other than this most of the references are in descriptions of accessories and gems that Ashley can equip - _Beowulf - Amantine holding Beowulf the Great's hair._ _Haeralis - Star sapphire with the power of Haeralis the Brave._ (As in Delita Hieral). _Orlandu - Antimonite containing a fragment of Orlandu's skeleton._ _Agrias's Balm - Balm used by the great knight Agrias as told in the Zodiac Brave Story._ I choose to accept VS as Ivalice canon because I have no good reason not to and because these item descriptions imply that the true events of Tactics became considered canon in-universe. There was an optional scene added to the War of the Lions version of Tactics where Mustadio presents Agrias a birthday gift of Lip Rouge. This is likely a reference to the above mentioned Agrias' Balm. (if you don't come across it in your game just look up 'Agrias' Birthday - War of the Lions Exclusive Scene' here on youtube. As an aside, there are a number of... interesting accessories Ashley can find himself equipped with in Vagrant Story. If he were able to equip them all at once he would have a number of styles of earrings, rings, necklaces and chokers, an anklet (seen on the woman in the opening FMV), Armlets, bracelets, a broach, two different sets of false nails, a nose-ring, a tongue stud, Lipstick/lipbalm and all as accessories to his usual Assless chaps. Hey Fakenet! Do you do AI Art? I kinda want some artwork of Ashley Riot with a choice selection from all his possible accessories...

Also, for what it's worth, I appreciate how blatantly leftist you guys are instead of playing the "kEEp PoLitIcS oUt Of gAmIng" like the losers who are just conservatives that don't want to be challenged on their terrible positions.
