I grew up in early 1990s and with skate punk, grunge, metal, hip-hop, rap, etc…. ZZ Top we’re the most UNCOOL thing to listen to growing up. But now I’m in my 40s and realize these dudes are timeless. I was just a dumb kid. 😂 I have the same beard now

In the eighties the Little Ol’Band from Texas was one of the hottest rock acts worldwide (Eliminator and Afterburner) and during the 90s their success faded a bit, but they were NEVER UCOOL!

Yep, me l'm from nawth Harris Co. Remember Houston in the '60s. To many people now. Saw ZZTOP the first time though was East Dallas @The Wintergarden on 12-27-81 on El Loco. Twernt no opening act. THEY WERE KILLA!!!!

ZZ Top was actually originated in Jefferson County. They couldn’t get airtime on the overly conservative radio there so they made their professional start in Houston. Similar to Janis Joplin who also moved from Port Arthur to the city to find her fame.

@@laurenganann3457 The band was formed in Houston after Moving Sidewalks disbanded who were also based in Houston. ZZ played their first shows in Beaumont. The band got plenty of airtime from Texan radio stations, but not the rest of US. So yes ZZ formed in Houston and therefore their hometown this why their motto is “That lil’ ole band from Houston, TX”.

Dusty is driving that flashy Afterburner coupe to Heaven. RIP Dusty! Rock On, Hombre!

I've seen ZZ Top many times.The best time was at the Cotton Bowl with Carlos Santana and Steve Miller Band. When Dusty sang "Tush" and sang the lyrics...'Dallas Texas', the sound of 40,000 people on their feet cheering was the best! Thanks Dusty. Great times!

I saw them a number of times too. I remember seeing ZZ Top open for the Stones at the Cotten Bowl, halloween night, I think it was like 1981? The Fabulous Thunderbirds were before Top and then the Stones. Wow...great days.

@@tony057 I was just watching a KZread video about that tour! They are really funny being interviewed then. The interviewer asked Dusty why they sang about whorehouses. Dusty said, "Well, there's Texas, there's Mexico, and then there's the border towns. And that's where the whorehouses are." It was great! Thanks for sharing your memory❤️

I've been trying to figure out since 1973 how that much sound can come from just three guys. They're a blues freight train.

I lived in Texas from 1980-1986 I never missed a show, over 20 times never got old. ZZ TOP ROCKS

Not only have I loved their music for over forty years, I absolutely love their style. No other band like them. Lots of music from three dudes. I once told that to Alex Lifeson of RUSH, another three piece and his exact words were, "I guess you haven't heard of ZZ Top". That is praise at its finest.

Crazy thing is they still sound this good 36 years later

I would give anything to see these guys in their prime, my dad played them to me when i was a kid and ive been hooked since (31 now) RIP Dusty 👑

My first rock concert was ZZ Top in Seattle, loudest band I'd ever heard, my ears rang for a week after the concert. At that point they were still doing the cowboy look, what else would you expect from a "Little old band from Texas"? Still one of the best bands around, would love to see them perform live again.

I saw them first in Sacramento at the Veterans Hall, in Dec 1974, Billy and Dusty just barley had short beards, wore thier Southern Nudie Suits.

First time I saw them in the Hollywood sportatorium was in 1976. Fandango tour. They didn't have beards then. Had a buffalo rise up on the stage! I was only17 and never forget that show. 250,000 wats of sound in our ears up front to the stage. Saw them4 more times after that

RIP Dusty. The last time I saw them in a very very small village in Southern Germany (Schwäbisch Gmünd). And we were soo proud that the little ol' band from Texas were here.

Saw them live back in the beginning. They had the stacks of amps with the steer horns mounted. The showmanship and musicianship was amazing. Totally mesmerized!

Was always interested in the group as a kid, I think it was the name. Now that I am an adult I began listening to their music and I was blown away. Most people tend to think they are a rock-n-roll group, i disagree. I think they are more blues with elements of rock(which is what most music is anyway). I also think its amazing how they are just as good live now as they were 36 years ago.

I've seen em live a couple times and they were as good as it gets everytime! Their older albums show their real deal blues talents. Yep! I was in Acúna one time walking down the sidewalk and shopping and three dudes were standing at a pickup truck with ZZ Top blasting as loud as it would! I loved it!

Called in La Grange while on vacation over there. Like going back in time but real Americans live there and I loved it !

Here to pay my respects and reminisce on the music of another kick ass band I didn't see live when I had the chance. RIP Dusty Hill!

Billy is in my opinion, the greatest guitarist thats ever been. Every note holds soul. ZZ forever!!!

Well said ! Everything you said is dead on ! I saw WWTT also and have been a huge fan ever since. The lengths they went to to design the stage for that tour was amazing. "real" Texas sand, cactus, tumbleweeds, rattlesnakes... and a Texas-shape stage. Then, just three incredible musicians put on the show of a lifetime. Incredible !

Saw them during the ELIMINATOR tour. They were balls to the walls Rick, boogie and blues. Based on what I've seen from live video, they haven't changed a bit nor lost a step. God Bless them!

Awesome could listen to a 5 hour extended version of la grange, it has every element of music, best rock and roll band ever excellent rift.

I've seen these guys so many times over the years! Even though I maybe getting old... they never do!

I had the greatest pleasure to see them in concert in San Diego in 1979. You talk about a heck of a concert. I mean they brought it on!

I first heard ZZ Top on a French radio station called France Inter in 1967....blew me away then. Blows me away now! Best blues rock band ever.

I remember these 3 dudes playing n Trinity Park. They were called "Moving Sidewalk". Bout '68-68. Dude I'm old. Original Dallas hippy. Lived for live rock, amongst other things 😎. Lee Park & the Cellar Club downtown. Titty bars & shoot pool. Fun!

Absolutely love their choreography as much as the music.

Years ago I saw ZZTop and then the Stones. Talk about a concert!!

No, Muddy Waters was Jimi's favorite player and his biggest influence, but he loved Billy Gibbons and spoke very highly of him.

One of the best bands I ever seen live.

So glad I watched this. Saw these dudes in Indy at MSA, if ya know ya know, in 1983. Blew me away.

Saw them open for Ten Years After. '73 I think. They were good.

I saw them in Greensboro, NC in 1982. My ears are still ringing.

I’ve listened to so much ZZ Top this past week, as everyone should have. All of these old rockers all seem larger than life, and it’s easy to assume we’ll have them around forever. RIP Dusty.

These guys rock still today, saw them last year in Ruidoso NM and OMG this is my all time favorite of ZZ Tops music. Very Bluezzy indeed.

Lived in Fresno in '73, went to a concert that featured Lydia Pents and Cold Blood. This little 3 piece band from Odessa came out and opened, they didn't have beards then. I'd never heard of them. Can't hardly remember what they sang except for 'Gotta mellow down, gotta mellow down". Wasn't long before the 'Tres Hombres' album came out. I saw it, I remembered them, I bought it. Great band, saw them before most of the world did, saw them when they were clean shaven.
