My previous bike was a 2006 Hayabusa. It was a Monster of a bike (I've had several bikes before- Virago 750, Kawasaki 550, and for may years, a Yamaha Virago 750 ). My current bike is a Kawasaki 2016 ZX14R SE. It's a total MONSTER. Seriously, the way it pulls from 80mph to 140mph is un-freaking-believable. I have to say this again - un-freaking-believable. When people see my jacket or helmet, and ask me what bike I ride, I say that I don't ride a "bike". I explain to them that I have a saddle on Godzilla - and I do the best I can to hang on...

That's what this thing does! It's so smooth, nonchalant, almost bored, that you just find yourself doing a buck 50 making a simple pass on the highway. It doesn't ever change its disposition. It's super gentle and then you're going 175. And the faster it goes, the more stable it feels, like it's been waiting on you to use a little gas. I dont know, you're right, you need to have the ability to control yourself with this thing. Up to you.

The 12R was like that, you think you're doing 70, look at the clocks and see 120. That's the beauty of them though; not necessarily the outright acceleration from 0 but how fast it picks up and how it behaves while it's already going fast.

Bro! Awesome job on the rebuild. A few weeks ago I (we) drove from eastern PA to the far end of Massachusetts to pick up a 2008 ZX14. Rode it home. Very comfortable ride. I was impressed. It was a very nice experience and I only got fatigued after 4 hours. Love that bike. It just wants to go fast. Like stupid fast. 90 feels like 40. It’s an awesome bike with an insane throttle response. Keep the damn bike and be responsible with it. I went out of my way to find one. Sell your VFR and keep this. Just remember.... less is more. Cheers!

This bike is superb for quickly touring vast places like Australia, or even the Great Plains of North America-where you have empty and long straight roads with lots of wind. I rode it for about 8000 mi/13000 km; it was incredibly comfortable, solidly planted on the highway, and with so much effortless passing power. I wish Kawasaki updated it by changing the dashboard, full-LED lighting, and corner ABS.

Best thing about zx14r … you can keep it in 6th gear and ride from 25-mph to 186-mph … zx14r holds its lane when passing semi trucks … no need to downshift from 6th gear to pass cars … when you keep it stock … it’s relatively quiet and doesn’t attack too much attention … it’s very comfortable … brakes are very good … 80+ in the rain (low power / level 3) seems as stable as riding in dry weather … easy to clean the chain and remove front/rear tires … there’s really no reason to change stock configuration if you’re just doing street riding … easy to do u-turns on 20-ft street (just go to move your wrists out the way) … has safety Full Power / Level 3 or Level 2 so you don’t have to worry about tire coming up or rear wheel breaking traction … just peg the throttle and hold on … take off from light … quick shift from 1 to 6 at 40-mph and quietly sneak away from traffic … no one will notice you quietly accelerated to 100-mph … only thing I can say is always wear full protection from head, to jacket (rated AAA) , to pants (rated AAA) to gloves to shoes.

You can get yourself in trouble even on a 50cc if you're doing weird things and vice versa, can ride a 200hp hyperbike with no issues if you know what are you doing. I've been riding 200+ km/h (it's like 140 mph I guess?) like every single day, no issues. Ride safe, thanks for the review! 🤙

Great comfy bike. Makes 100mph+ feel like 30mph. Great for crossing countries and continents with ease. But still really flickable in the twisties. I think I might pick a black one up as my next ride. Thanks for the video sir, I have to agree with all your points on this bike. By the way I used to own and love a pre 98VTEC VFR, so I guess my question is should I buy a ZX14 as an only bike? Keep it and move the VFR, you said it yourself its better! If you were in the UK I would make you an offer today.

love the whole rebuilding, great job. Wondering why you are SO close to the car in front of you at the lights, no room to get out if anything happens. Almost dead center in the rear of the car makes me very unsafe

Honestly, it's not that much more crazy than your other bikes. Could be a VFR replacement. But we say flip it and move on to another project. Really enjoyed the series. 👍

Anyone saying rider aids are a bad thing, doesn't really deserve to be riding. All they want is to prove something to others. They are stupid. Rider aids are a good thing, gives extra safety and peace of mind. I can control my bike without them no problem but i still ride with all the aids all the way up anyway, especially with the shitty roads that we get around here in Europe

Awesome bike and great rebuild! I do have a 2013 VFR 1200 F and I absolutely love it. ABS, traction control, linked brakes, perfect mirrors, ridiculous power and torque and it is fast. Planted at any speed, especially into the triple digits. I also have a nicely restored 84' VF 700 F. I love that bike as well, but it is raw and does not leave a lot of room for error. I am much more confident on the 1200 because of the features on it. Ride safe brother!

Yea, It's a dream bike! But I'm going to get one!! And no, you shouldn't sell it! (But you've got to maintain, your urge to open that throttle! Tickets are no fun!) The ZX14R is the best bike that you're going to own! What more could you ask for? A turbo kit for it!!..lol..!! (I suppose you'll have to wait till you are 63 years young, like I am, to just cruise it along the road!) Great video! I could really relate to how you feel, while riding the ZX14R! Be Safe, brother!!

Go for a overnight tour on it, you will see that it is brilliant as well. Throw a tank bag on the front and a bag on the back, use the inbuilt strap retractable clamps and you have ample space for your gear.
