Pop had no interest in trying to win this year. It was about him learning Victor and what he and the team need and Victor getting acclimated to the NBA. Also, season long "tryouts" for the rest of the guys, who stays and who goes, who fits and who doesn't. I expect a pretty busy off-season for them.

It's crazy how a 20 year old rookie already had the respect of the entire league defensively..guys are pulling back on fast breaks ,floating shots to the moon lol and just not taking shots they normally take...

It's crazy to say but Victor "only" had 3 blocks this game, specifically because the Pelicans strategized not to give him any. All of this is absolutely crazy.

Kinda like Dray said recently, guys avoid taking shots they would normally take, in effect it's kinda like a block.

This "20yo rookie" in question is a 7'5" alien

Mamu hustles and is strong af. He's a problem around the paint for teams who don't pay attention. I hope they keep him

Trey Young to the Spurs would be a huge impact. Best lob passer in the NBA teamed up with a 7'4" Phenom would be pretty sick.

Pop isn’t tanking. He’s keeping expectations and pressure low on the squad until they’re ready

  • @cyrilleribeiro5030

Yes, that’s the definition of tanking. 🤣 But the spurs did it differently from the others, they tanked the first 2 months with questionable choices. We all know that pop didn't do everything to make them competitive but what he did was the best and most logical choice for a better future. The main thing is that today when they play on the pitch they give everything they can on the pitch.

@@cyrilleribeiro5030 Simple people may confuse it for tanking. Pop improved the team drastically from the start of season.

@@llamayt3832 Tanking is just not doing everything to immediately win every game. The players are always trying but pop deliberately put them in complicated situations so that they progress in lots of different aspects. For a better future you must take these steps.

Wemby's for sure a clutch player, maybe not offensively. But defensively, he's a monster on clutch moments.

He always hits big shots 2-3 minutes from the end and keeps the score. And ends the last possession with a big stop.

Wemby better win DPOY he's made so many clutch blocks and defensive plays at the end of games which is things I haven't seen Rudy do this year at all.

Rudy is having a great season collectively with the Wolves, but Victor deserves the trophy. Otherwise what more should he do? He just changed the opposing attacks too much to not get the trophy. This is unheard of at this level. the only negative thing is that giannis, jokic, sengun and especially embid made big scores against victor this year. But yes not really helped by the team.

After sleep walking thru first half, great and fun second half for the Spurs. He tweaked his ankle pretty good at the beginning of 4th. I don't expect a big move this off season. I think Pop will expect more professional growth (corporate knowledge) from all the young ones. Maybe next years trade deadline

I can only see the Spurs getting Kelly Oubre, to be realistic. KCP and Paul George would be a stretch. Spurs might go for Shooter/Wing Defenders in the draft over a point guard or another big.

For the offseason I don't expect much from the spurs. I just hope they don't succumb to the sirens. They have to keep their assets still. Drafted one to 2 young talents (I hope Alex Sarr or Risacher), further developed Vassel and Sochan. And complete the roster with 1 or 2 vets. Above all, do not add large contracts except to include them in trades in the future. I could see the spurs going for jose alvarado in free agency. And during the year why not a trade of keldon johnson and devonte graham towards the trade deadline. Whatever happens, they will have a better season next year because Victor will progress but also the whole team collectively as at the end of the season. Now they know how to play around and how to take advantage of the spaces created by the defenses focused on Victor. Maybe they will be able to make the play in, it depends on the level of the Western Conference which is completely crazy this year.

Pop has said coaching right now is a bit different. In the championship years, it was about strategy, lineups, matchups, etc, but this year has mostly been teaching young players how to play winning basketball and hoping you get those opportunities to do strategy adjustments in-game. You're starting to see the results late in the season-8-10 since the rodeo road trip. Pop is getting more chances to actually coach rather than teach lately.

I think if Spurs get 3 pick or higher , Risasher or Sarr is so good for spurs, and if Cody Williams will be able to pick from Raptors 7 or lower , or Reed Sheppard, Rob Dillingham. From FA i think is nobody who can impact this team.
