Fair, but SGA 3 years ago was not as good as Wemby is right now. Or not as much of a game changer at least. When you have a dominant center it changes everything. If you added Kyle Kuzma to the Spurs rn they’d be fighting for the playin. And the Spurs don’t have a million picks like OKC so I think they will be fairly active in free agency. Def should take at least 2 years for them to really be a threat

The Spurs don't move like Shaq and the Lakers. Shaq just ditched his teammates (Penny) in Orlando to go play for the Lakrs...such a weak move. The Spurs are still developing players and will have to find gems in the draft like they have done throughout history. That's why they let so many players go so that they can load up on draft picks. These players don't want to play in cities like SA...look at Dame, he didn't even want to go to Milwaukee and that team is ready to complete now. Look at all those old azz free-agents none of them come close to fitting in the Spurs timeline for winning. Spending all that money on a declining player to put him on a team thats not ready to win a championship is a waste of everyone's time.

Wemby is living up to the hype as much as Lebron and Shaq. Chuck is wrong to argue against that.

I believe the difference between Wemby and Chet, besides Wemby being defensively superior, is that Wemby is the one who carries the team, whereas Chet benefits from the spaces created by his teammates. If we take the case of Jordan Poole as an example, when he was a secondary player, he benefited from the spaces, but when he became the main weapon, he struggled a lot.

Give Victor a few more minutes, 35 minimum, and a good PG and the Spurs are a playoff team…they are not that far, they have lost a handful of games by very slim margins…

They made the finals in shaq 3rd season which shaq blew by partying so heavy before it. Shaq only stayed with the magic 4 years in which time they got him an all nba guard to duo with him and all defensive level big in horace grant and some 3-d wings in Denis Scott and nick anderson. Chet has had a whole year of NBA level (best in the world) conditioning and training he may not have played a NBA game last year but he played basketball let's be real its still a year of development. Imagine Victor in the same situation where his only criticism is his strength.

The final block was well timed and will correctly get a lot of airplay. But don't lose the fact that Chet got Wemby out the paint and out of position and burned him multiple times (rewatch that reverse alley by Chet). Wemby still needs to improve his defensive positionining.
