@@tightcamper Tanzania trained the fighters but the war ended after Thatcher agreed to majority rule and Machel agreed to end the war. Tanzania was a poor country and didn't have much to offer other than offering training and some arms

@@GlobalSouthObserver Fact check. Without going into detail it was Bishop Muzorewa and Lt Gen Walls who agreed to the ceasefire and subsequent elections. Thatcher facilitated it. Mugabe had to be dragged kicking and screaming by Samora Machel.

Thank you very much Late President Julius Nyerere for your contribution on Zimbabwe’s Independence. I pray for Africa to embrace the Biblical principles which will help Africans to behave decently and respect its leaders hence will live with each other in peace and harmony.

This man was so brilliant particularly in answering questions. He was a change agent.

Absolutely right, just to add, immediately upon independence in 1961, mwalimu welcomed Nelson Mandela in 1962 where he provided moral and material support to all freedom fighters, Tanzania was headquarters of al freedom fighter parties from ANC, FRELIMO, SWAPO, MPLA,PAC

Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere Peerless Leader of Africa and World Statesman... A man of integrity, humanist and honest politician. Brilliant orator and the most consistent African Leader of the 20th century.

Nyerere was very articulate in explaining and defending whatever he stood for - bad or good. Time will come back when Africa will get these kinds of leaders again.

"We must radicalize Afrika" -Mwalimu Nyerere. It's this radicalization that's yet to be fully realized upto-date in Afrikan minds and it's necessary for true self-determination and freedom in all it's forms including Economic Freedom (EFF). He was such a visionary and strategic.

He must be crying in his grave right now when he sees these recent Xenophobic attacks.

After Kenyatta refused to a union between the three countries, Nyerere became bitter and started calling Kenyans nyangau. Even today Tanzanians are jealous of Kenyans, they harass Kenyans openly (eg. Auctioning maasai cows) but when Kenyans harass Tanzanians (jaguar wanted Tanzanians kicked out of a market in Nairobi) CCM throws tantrums. Nyerere did many good things but let's not pretend he was a saint

Many people don't realize that President Nyerere was the pioneer champion of the SADC region.

A leader, an intellectual, and a radical president who played major roles in the African liberation from oppression. Much respect Mzee Nyrerere. RIP.

Former President Julius Nyerere is historically remembered for his significant role he played in ousting one of Africa's tyrannical leader Idi Amin from power. A movement that gave birth to democracy in Uganda. And finally for adhering to the norm of democracy by relinquishing power when his constitutional tenure in office was over.

Can you compare this man with a dictator called "Jiwe" who knows nothing?!!!!!... This man was a true Teacher.

I clearly remember when he came to visit a city where i used to leave in the north of Tanzania 1978 I was 9 years old at the time coming from school. I remember he stood on his Land Rover with his short stick under his left arm giving speech. Time flies very fast...
