Everyone knows the Gief mirror match should be at very hard lol

I almost completely agree with this tier list. Only changes for me is I move Blanka into slight disadvantage, Ken into Even and Ryu into slight advantage. Great channel!

As a jamie player, drive rush heavy punch is super abuseable against gief, and jamie whiff punishes him well. He also has an option select that makes his safe jump setups work against wake-up lvl 3. Definitely winning but maybe more slight advantage than advantage. You still need to play footsies with Gief at the end of the day…

Def, i feel Jamie beats him. Once I got master, I can't manage a win against a single Jamie.

Ppl that don't play Gief can't see why he has a slight advantage against shotos but he does. He has 3 moves to deal with fireballs, lariat beats dragonlash, charged heavy punch beats donkey kick, if you are brave enough you can tundra storm many of the obnoxius ken moves and luke cockyness is his downfall against gief. For me personally the hardest match up is manon, she cancels most of my set ups because hercommand grab moves forward. JP is hard but once you get in he is dead. Sometimes you just to outcrazy them and go yolo with zangief, a 2 meters, 150 kilos russian bear running at you makes them take bad decisions.

Personally I would fight a million Cammys over a Luke!

Zangief vs Zangief is the "Most beautiful matchup" of Zangief. :D

I agree with this. As a Zangief main I feel good against certain top tier characters and nervous against the ones considered low tier.

I’m a Guile main and I feel weirdly relieved to hear a high-level Zangief say they think the Zangief-Guile matchup is even!! On one hand, Zangief is the only matchup in this game where I consistently feel a little bit guilty after every round I win; on the other hand, Zangief is the only matchup in the game where I feel constantly terrified that I could lose the round at any moment. Hahaha.

For me Guile is long to fight, a bit easier than JP level of patience but still. DeeJay got a lot going for him but once you know the options, it is manageable, I find it easier to fight DeeJay than ken. Jamie is a pain to fight.

Modern Gief vs Jamie feels like we are at disadvantage unless we are 3/4 of the screen away to be able to check drive rush the hardest, or we are eating mixups after mixups fosho. The safe jumps and the corner pressure is absolutely insane unless we have meter. And they get drinks for free.

damn bruh...really starting off saying he's an advantage on ken?! I"m glad you put lily so high cuz that MU is miserable for gief...same with Manon, as these are char's that are generally considered weak, and they def beat gief still. I think i'd only put juri up on a harder tier... I hate that MU too. GIef is a solid char...and it wouldn't take many changes to make him better. But it really feels like capcom poked holes in his game purposely, like the deadzone for Atomic-Suplex/RBG. Fix that, and make his headbutt stop fireballs again, and i'd be happy

How in god's name is the Ryu matchup advantageous for Zangief? This is consistently my worst matchup. There is no way you're getting a good Ryu into the corner.

Gief is made to neutralize deejay. I play dee jay giefis literally my hardest match-up nightmare effect, kizzie, fudo, and smug said same. Deejay so prone to DI, can get grabbed out of every normal/DR, gotta be careful with his fire balls cuz dropkick beats every anti air option except OD jack knife plus level 2 counters. Crouching lp beats all dee jays normals. Hes literally deejays worst match-up

how the hell is guile and luke in even... i mean gief is bottom tier for a lot of reason

Tier list was good but you made questionable placements at the end, juri, deejay , jaime and luke are hard MUs

I literally commented that dee jay MU is real inaccurate. Gief is made to neutralize deejay. I struggle against good giefs

@ultraheaven8968 master. Idk why that matters tho especially when my main mode is Battle Hub. Just watch kizzie, smug, nightmareeffect, Fuudo (best deejay in 🌎) child 233 match-up vids they all deejay mains. It's literally deejay worst match-up even on the Japan MU chart gief +57%.

I think the biggest zangief’s problem is that his only effective consistent anti air is really weak and inconsistent
