    Haha good one man, still blows me away how fast he can shred pentatonic licks, other guitarists favour three note per string scales to come up with interesting, flashy shredding licks (Yngwie being one of them even though I find his playing slightly repetitive awesome player either way because he has precision and accuracy), or sweeps or tapping. But Zakk has always gone for the classic chops with those blues ideas in mind. But in saying that his playing can get a little monotonous too but he's still a talented guitarist

    I saw BLS here in Tulsa back in December '15. Huntress opened (It was my first time seeing them. I wasn't impressed. 3/10). Zakk and his crew only played about an hour and 10 minutes, but GOD DAMN was it a tight 70 minutes. All shred before bed.

And any up and coming lead guitarist in the show off days of the mid 80s had to out shredd the competition and prove themselves worthy among the already established guitar gods of that era!!! You had to offer sumthin' special to be accepted! And he most certainly did! He's in his 50s now. He doesn't need to impress anybody! He's past that! But you're right, he's just havin' fun!

    Zakk is an incredible player but it's not because of this crap. Dude has written dozens of tracks where he applies powerful blends of melody, soul, and shredding. This is the stuff that gives shredding a bad name. It's the same reason I think the technically magnificent Malmsteen is boring to listen to.
