I saw this guy at Ozfest in like 2002 maybe. Never heard of him. He is playing an absolutely screaming solo and throws the guitar down. The strings are just ringing out with deafening feedback. He pulls out a six pack of budweiser and slams a beer. He tosses one or two out into the crowd. He slams another. He tosses another one or two out. Guitar is still laying there just screaming. He picks it up and keeps soloing. The most goddamn rock and roll thing i have ever witnessed.

@@virgilthemob1242 Great point. There’s a lot of bands who get a new guitarist and suddenly it’s as if the original never existed, and is never spoken of again. Your ear is your best teacher. Play, play, play, play, and play until it sounds good to your ear. I'll never forget when I got my first electric guitar back in 83 and I was trying to make any semblance of good sound coming out of it and getting nowhere. In frustration, I hit the strings hard and accidently hit an A power chord. It sounded powerful and amazing. Hitting that chord was the start of it all and my ear taught me so many chords that I didn't know the name of until many years later. 38 years later, I am still learning something almost daily. I never understood all the hate that flies Zakk’s way about “he just plays pentatonics” or “too many pinch harmonics”. That one riff in Free Will still gives me chills when I hear it and play it
Zach I've watched you since you were that skinny tall blonde-haired young man. You're one of the few guitarists who actually evolves and gets better and better. In my opinion you're one of the greatest ever and deserve your place in history as such. Aside from being a phenomenal musician you're one hell of a great human being and I wish you the best always God bless you buddy.
I absolutely loved this interview I feel like he is the most underrated he's one of the best so interesting to hear why he used the blues early on... He plays those pentatonics like no one else.. He has the most unique style and now I know why because he didn't want to sound like what was mainstream so he started kicking everything out till he had little left but he took that little bit and squeezed something out that was unique and masterful... Such respect I have
tuned a little low for my floyd to jam along with... but love me some Zack. Hitting the stop and backing it up several times to grasp some of his technique. Very cool. Thank you Zack, very kind of you to take the time to lay it down for us.
This man speaks and plays as if the guitar is an extension of himself. So honest and pure and talented. Love him.

An extension of himself. Ew.
Tangerine was the Led Zeppelin song an ex showed me when we were together. Heard him play it and got Nam flashbacks.
A talented artist and very nice human being.
riff master and one of the few genuine people out there. thanks for what you have done and cant wait for more.
Zakk is the shit, his comfort level playing guitar is impeccable

Met Zakk a few years ago, great guy, and he treats you like family lol. I went in for a handshake and he gave me a hug instead . Just a hilarious guy and awesome dude. He signed the back of my BLS sweater on the logo, and it’s still hanging in my room!! 🤟🏼 can’t wait for the new BLS album next month !
I did EXACTLY the same thing with Spirit of Radio as a kid. My future new best friend in high school showed me what was up. I always did everything up high when there were open strings involved. My '71 Les Paul Custom had very tinny sounding pick-ups for some reason.

I actually lucked into it just noodling. I was like "woah! WTF? Thats Spirit of the Radio!" Having said that theres a zillion others I played wrong. And probably still do. But not many 🤘
He is such an awesome guitar player, and so much to listen to in interviews! He's just always fun to listen to!
What's really cool and proves his deep musicianship: Zakk is able to let the instrument breath and ring, and in the same time he keeps the time and the groove happen.
“See what you can do with 4 crayons.” This man is an American philosopher. Like Mark Twain. Looks like Twain, too. But, plays guitar. Incredibly well.

An American philosopher? Really? Then you don’t know what philosophy is. The 4 crayon analogy from Dick Wild is not original. He regurgitated that from what he heard. Tell me who originally used that analogy. He plays guitar adequately. He’s not an innovator. Gus shit is pasèe
Watching Zakk from 21 years old until today has been nothing short of a blessing. The guy wasn't a Rhoads clone, he was like the love child of EVH and RR.
It was epic hearing Zakk Wylde say 87, the year I was born. I've been a fan since I was first able to listen to music in preschool. I still love his music now and throughout Zakk's career. I'm a lifelong fan. I like and love Zakk Wylde and his music. Thank you for all of you and your entire career and all the quality time you spend with the people who truly love you. I appreciate you Zakk Wylde. Thank you with every fiber of my being.
Amazing player! Filling in for Randy and creating his own sound goes to show his talent! What a beast of a player!

Killer album all the way through with Zakk's best riffs! Godzilla strength tone and blazing solos spraying out, filling the room with sonic mayhem! Fav Ozzy album, along with Diary Of A Madman. Great mention-Eric Love!
Thanks so much Zakk. I heard you first on cassette with “Miracle Man” and was obsessed with pinch/artificial harmonics. Saw you in Tampa a Year later and headbanged till my head practically fell off.
I met Zakk at Metaltronics back in the mid 80's. He was such a genuine nice person. He kindly showed me a great country lick.

I have always loved and respected Zakk for his playing, humor, and most of all class- he ALWAYS respects those who came before him. He has inspired a whole generation himself (like Richie Faulkner).

Such a great guitar player with many influences....love the Zeppelin influence with Tangerine
The crunch of the guitar in No More Tears is iconic you to me. I fell in love with your style when you were with Ozzy
He definitely carved out his own sound. Loved his acoustic/vocal stuff too.
One of my favourites man such a great player and such an influence
OMG, Tangerine! No one lists that among their favorite riffs! Such a beautiful song!
Love this guy's playing his honesty it's so refreshing a real insight into Zakks thought processes love that crayon 🖍️ line, Ozzy's had some of the Best guitarists over the years Tony, Randy, Jake E, Zakks doing the business. 🤘🎸❤️
