I think Directors Cuts work when it’s a director who was done wrong by a studio but this is just doing it to do it.

When you're talking about a Director's Cut before the film comes out, that's not good.

Zack is that kid is class who turns in his project incomplete but says if he had more time it would be better.

A director shouldn’t need a directors cut every film to tell a coherent story

His director’s cuts have only ever been marginally better than the theatrical cuts. All they do is show me how ineffective Snyder is at using screen time efficiently to tell his stories. I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but his talents are in his visuals and not much else in my opinion.

Did you watch the video above because it’s clearly Netflix’s idea. He was mandated to do this…but somehow it’s his fault. Make it make sense. Last time I’ll comment on this post because some people lack comprehension on this app. Not a dick rider either because this movie the way it is probably a 6/10. Potential, but lacked execution in its entirety as well as lacking something distinctive like the force was for Star Wars.

Didn't Zack go on about how his Netflix movies would not need a "Snyder Cut" because they were allowing him to make the movies he wants to make? I have love for him because of Man of Steel and ZSJL, but he needs a better producer. Or just stop making movies and aim for mini series. It takes talent to craft something special in 2 hours or less and he seems utterly incapable of that no matter the story.

I read a headline about the "Snyder cut" and immediately rolled my eyes. Come on, we've seen this before, they need to stop protecting this guy, he's just not a great writer. Snyder needs to be paired with a good writer, let him be the visuals guy, layer his work on top of someone else's writing.

is Snyder capable of editing and making a good movie? Other big time directors (Tarantino, Nolan, Scorsese, Spielberg, Cameron, PTA, etc.) don't have this issue. It's getting pretty obnoxious every time he releases a theatrical cut there is a built in excuse for negative reviews with "director's cut" I mean this is like the 5th time for him. Is he seriously not able, like every other director in the history of film, to make a 2-2 1/2 hour film?

He could always have said no. I'm sure Netflix would have settled for the R-rated one. But, even if he had to make the PG-13 one, Snyder agreed to it. No one forced him. And, by all accounts there was no interference in what that movie was. It's all on Snyder. He made the movie, put his name on it, and released it, all of his own free will. If it sucks, it's because he was unable to make a good movie, not because Netflix asked him to make it.

Might as well wait for the extended cut then.

Oh please, this is clearly just them trying to recreate the “Release The Snyder Cut” buzz, they saw how much that was going around with Justice League and so now they’re trying to do it again, and my biggest question of all would be this, if this is a direct to streaming movie why would you need to cut it down? It’s a streaming movie so you can make it as long as you want, there’s no reason why you would need to cut it down, and so I think this is just a stupid PR stunt of them trying make another “Release The Snyder Cut” movement

Well I like the Snyder cut of Justice League, but this publicity stunt has me going right off Zack Snyder. Make the right version the first time. Forbes is right. This is purely a publicity stunt and will backfire. Only the diehard Snyder fans will buy this BS. In fact, announcing this before the current version drops, might stop people watching the first version because they're anticipating the "Snyder Cut". dumb move.

I was just reading an article and i already responded to another post with this: "We knew it would be a PG-13 movie. In my heart of hearts, I’d always wanted it to be rated R, but you realize this sort of scale and cost of a movie like this, "Well, it’s not 100% responsible to have that be the demand." [They were] like, "What if we said do whatever you want over here? Do the PG-13 version and then go nuts [with the other cut]. We don’t care." That was a thing I’ve never experienced before. [It will be a] really crazy experience for fans, because it’s the fully realized weirdo, heavy metal, bizzaro-land movie." I mean, usually directors cuts exist because studio interference resulted in a wildly different vision than the director wanted. In this case, there was no interference and yet we're still getting 2 cuts of the film. Under different circumstances I might even think this was a really awesome opportunity to be really creative & experimental. However, this is just ridiculous. If you always need directors cuts to tell your intended, hell, a coherent story you're doing something wrong.

I like Snyder but i hate how he keeps doing this. It's dumb.

Why hire Snyder if every movie is going to have 2 versions?

Same thing happened to Napoleon. Ridley Scott announced that the 4-hour Director's Cut of Napoleon is gonna release on AppleTV after the movie completed its theatrical run. And they announced it Before the release of the theatrical cut. It completely ruin the point to see the theatrical version. And just like Zack Snyder, Ridley Scott also fared better with his Director's Cuts. Wheiter it's Kingdom of Heaven, Blade Runner or Robin Hood. I mean, Why would someone do that?

The difference is he was allowed to make a directors cut for this, he shot scenes exclusively for the directors cut

I always viewed zack as overrated. Sorry if anyone gets offended. But he does excel at cinematography. He movies always look great but his stories are typically a hit or a miss.

Listen I loved the Snyder cut of Justice League and the directors cut takes BvS from a 4 to a strong 6 BUT enough is enough.

...so, do I bother watching the movie on it's debut release or wait for this Director's Cut? This is what happened to Kindgom of Heaven with Ridley Scott - the theatrical release sucked ass while Director's Cut is damn near better than Gladiator! Why the FUCK do they do shit like this?

Bruh! Snyder and his Director's Cuts! Make the movie you wanna make and put it out the way it was meant to be put out. I'm tired of watching his movies just for him to be like there's a Director's Cut that makes it feel like a completely different movie. i started watching the movie today got maybe 20 mins in before i turned it off ... i certainly could tell that stuff was cut .. somethings didnt make sense and felt out of place and some of the cuts didnt match up .. netflix shot themselves in the foot with this move , instead of trying to replicate the justice league thing they should have just relased the movie the way he wanted to ... especially after watching an interview with charlie humman who said that they shot a hard r extended version of the movie ..... ill just wait till that version drops

Dude, his daughter took her own life, and Warner gave his film to Joss Whedon. Even Nolan walked away from WB for their bullshit. If you're going to complain about something, at least be honest about it. ZSJL, and BvS Ultimate are damn near different films compared to what the studio put in theater. That's not an option, that's a fact.

just make a good movie the first time around. or maybe realize you have an eye for visualizing but you need someone else to be the director.

why is he always making directors cut?? just make the damn movie you want to make and stop this directors cut bullshit. I think he does it on purpose to garner attention and sympathy

I would prefer only one version. But the argument that for streaming it does not matter If the movie is really long, could be the argument to support different versions, thats the opportunity that comes with streaming. The way Ridley Scott and James Cameron want to handle this situations.

I wish my prof at uni were Zack Snyder so I can take my finals multiple times...
