Well, the Z1 UCA set is on sale for $800. THE SPC's are roughly $700. Do you think the Z1 UCAs are worth it, for the extra alignment capability? I suppose the only thing I'd worry about, is that any extra adjustment capabilities, can also quickly get you out of alignment, if they're not made correctly.

Need 6 ton jack stands! They are much more stable too due to added beef and broader base. Do the Z1 control arms have more inboard adjustment than SPC for more negative camber adjustability?

Our project Frontier is running -0.5 camber. If you go any further, you need to check the strut tower for balljoint clearance. If it touches, all you have to do grind it down.

Only bad thing I see is that they will hit the coil bucket sooner than a tubed UCA, the square edge takes off about an extra half inch of droop compared to tubed UCAs. That's why people run shock hoops rather than coil buckets, personally the coil bucket could have been better placed by Nissan. Also sooner or later the buckets will crack especially if you wheel a lot with 35s and a heavy load so constantly check the welds and the whole coil bucket for any cracks/stress fractures. Running a heavy load coil will send harsh vibrations to the welds/bucket making the metal have micro fractures little by little until the crack pops up around a weld. Just be on the lookout for that mang, things looking mint 👌

I was worried about that at full droop as well. But I checked it and I have no clearance issues. But thanks for the info about the coil bucket. That was something I had not thought of. Will definitely be keeping an eye on them

  • @boboyamamoto

@@conheck_offroad As long as it doesn't hit the coil bucket when hyper extending. Square UCAs are better because of stiffness but the bucket is mainly the concern. If you can, have someone build you shock hoops so you can also run longer shocks and get some limit straps so you don't stress the coilover when you droop, if you don't you will see premature wear/failure in the internals of the coilovers. Also if you haven't already upgrade your power steering cooler, the stock one is less than adequate for 35s/offroading and its fairly cheap compared to everything else (150$ +/-) mmmm other than that just fix whatever gets broken. Unfortunately we don't have the support like other vehicle brands do so all of us titan sawpped xterra owners are gunnie pigs at this point 🥲

These are arms designed for an 18" Titan swap shock. Anything more than that will prematurely wear steering components and CVs. It's a mid travel suspension, not long.

why did you go from SPC to z1? were you not able to align your truck properly with the SPC? could the extra one inch lift from compressing the springs to get 5in lift, have played a role?

I had no issues with my SPCs. Z1 offered me early access to the arms and to test them out before releasing them on their site. They are a lot stronger and easier to align than the SPCs, and have the same amount of articulation capability as the SPCs.

I like the adjustability. But for that price, they had better not hit the coil bucket, and they better have more travel. Otherwise, what's the point? Also, as a mechanical engineer, I sincerely doubt they're stronger than tubular designs. I'm sure they're strong enough, which is all that matters. But considering the $300 Rough Country UCAs are strong enough, what's the point of adding extra weight for strength that you don't need? Don't get me wrong, I'm excited that NISMO / Z1 exists. However, far more customers would buy their parts, if they opened regional mechanic shops that specialize in Nissan, and know what they're doing. They would only need a few mechanic shops. I live in Northern, VA. I'd drive 4-5 hours for good work. As it is right now, I'd have to drive 2,000 miles to Nisstec to get a thing done properly.
