Such a cool route, we've camped out in the Mojave Desert a few times (it's like a halfway point for when we adventure from Southern AZ to Norcal) but have still not done a proper Mojave Road trip. Hoping to knock that out next year, it always looks so fun. Thanks for sharing your trip, I just subbed so I can get more trip inspiration in the future!

i have a nissan xterra 2012 and its the best thing i have ever owned .... i love it ... i get compliments all the time.. even was an uber driver for awhile and made some money ... hauled two dead deer down a mountain hunting , and got laid a few times in the back also .. camping ... you cant beat this vehicle... my girlfriend says if the world ends she is ditching her kia and jumping in my xterra and we are gone.

Awesome content, it is good to see more with Xterras, I am tired of only seeing Toyotas or Jeeps. Did that red X with the hefty bumper have any lift at all? Looked barely more than stock height with 285s.

I don't off road, however, I am a HUGE fan of old-school body on frame SUV's like Xterras, the old Jeep Cherokees, and 4Runners. Years ago, I had two used Cherokees, one from a rental fleet. Both with about 180,000 miles on them. No major issues with either one. I 'get it' that these are purpose built vehicles however, I'm wondering if the combination of lifts, larger tires (over manufacturer spec), and the abusive nature of rock crawling, driving through hundreds of miles of sand, etc. shortens the life span of these vehicles? In other words, are people who off road, commonly getting +200,000 miles out of their vehicles...………...without having to replace engines or transmissions? I'd love an Xterra, but you just never know how well these purpose built trucks were looked after by their previous owners.
Good

I was wondering, How many miles was the trip also, what was the fuel situation? I know my 2012 Xterra gets 13 mpg and its barely lifted.
@RogueOverland
5 жыл бұрын
Depending on where you start/finish it is around 130 miles. When we run it we always carry 5 gallons of extra fuel and usually put it in at camp the first night. You MIGHT be able to make it without extra but it isn't worth the chance in our eyes.

It's always interesting to know what others are getting MPG wise. I'm currently getting between 16.5 and 17.5 in my 14 Xterra pro-4x with a 6 speed manual in the rolling hills of PA. Cheers mates and great video Rogue!
