What a beautiful voice and a BEAUTIFUL lady. Take me back please
Have loved her singing since I first heard her sing in 'Jesus Christ Superstar ' back in '74 , she's always gorgeous ❤️
super cute
I use to dance my ass off to this song and cry.....CRAZY.
She can sing and has the charisma of a supernova. Well done.
I am in love with her she is so talented

I'd love to see the rest of that show, if you have it. Very hard to find the original. I played bass for Yvonne for several years (including this clip). We had a hot band and a lot of fun back in the day.

Yvonne was great to work with. Although she (rightly) considered herself more of a rock singer than a disco queen, those were great days. In the disco era we bass players got to play a lot of notes!

I’ve never been able to play in that Gallup style. I can do the octave thing, that’s easy, but it hard to add the extra notes and keep a tight groove going. Any suggestions for me?

@@stroburg02, It was all two finger stuff with occasional "drops", dragging a fingertip from high to low strings. I was young and playing like that came easily to me. I don't know if I could still play like that today. I could play ok with a classical guitar style right hand, but never could do the slap and pop style as well as so many others. I found ways to fake it and relied on the others in the band (particularly the late Claude Pepper on drums) to make me sound better than I was. Those were great days.

@@PFrei900 Well, your faking it was very convincing! I might need a couple bass lessons from you.
great! just great!!
Awesome melody, I love that late 70's bass and drums, not affected by the disco transformation, which was about to start ;]
THANKS for sharing this video! SO EXTRA EXCITING!!!! Yvonne is a gifted singer and genuinely loving human being....I LOVE her!!!

Amo esta canción...
i dont have have love pains no more. out grew them. like my teenage pants.
So often when people upload live performance videos, they overlay the recorded version over it. Thank you for loading it as it was filmed. Great song and performance.

Just seeing your comment now. Yes, I saw that someone had taken the clip and done that afterwards. I love the recording; but to me, it was so cool to see Yvonne singing this gem live from the time period when it came out. Although it became a club classic, it was not too long after the song's release that she pretty much disappeared from recording for over two decades!

Love the disco beat but I bet this sounds great with no instruments.

If I had to guess... timing. This was released when disco was already on its way to the discount bins.
To be honest, I would have preferred her LP's released separately [with 'bonus tracks - there must be some !]. Though to have anything else apart from 'Greatest Hits Collections' is a great move. I read recently that The Bee Gees wanted Yvonne to sing 'How Deep Is Your Love' to make it a 'love theme' kinda thing to SNF but were out-voted/persuaded by their management to keep it for themselves. It would be a great full-circle 'if' they ever 'found' a tape of her recording it. Or she did a new version and maybe some more of The Gibb Brothers songs for any future album ? U should send/drop that 'hint' pronto Justin !

+professormouse The albums are on separate discs, and the bonus tracks include the 12" mixes of "Love Pains" and "If I Can't Have You," as well as "Moment by Moment" ... she mentioned the song in the liner notes, but I don't think that she ever recorded it. I'll mention your idea :-)
The audience whistles and noise sound like they've been "added" afterwards!

I don't think so
This drummer did a "good & decent" job on stage, BUT the original recorded studio track featured the one & only, Jeff Porcaro on the drums. Where Porcaro was noted for being such an accomplished studio musicians, with drumming skills covering pop, rock, R&B, Gospel and even a few country tunes, he ripped out a GREAT disco beat & rhythm track on this very Elliman song, "LOVE PAINS". Leave it to Porcaro, to make the very BEST out of any track! - BCRadio

That's Claude Pepper on drums, better known as Jack Mack (his real name). A widely accomplished player, with a long list of recording, TV, Movie, and touring credits. Founding member of Jack Mack And The Heart Attack. Far more than a "good & decent" player.

Replace "good & decent" with "strong and tasteful".

all I can say is BOTH Porcaro and Claude Pepper ( John Mack r.i.p.) were outstanding drummers
