I doubt the younger generations realize how truly lucky they are to see Cat Stevens/Yusuf in the flesh. He is a true legend in our own time and he has been for the past 50 years. So many great artists have come and gone over the years. I remember when Cat Steven's was being boycotted for wanting to follow his heart, and I couldn't bring myself to suffer the sacrifice of giving up his music. I'm happy to see that people have come to their senses and finally accepted Yusuf's life choices. To each their own, I say. In the meantime, I will always be grateful to Yusuf, or Cat, or whoever the man sees himself as for the gift's he has/is given/giving us all in his music.

This song has great significance in my life. My boyfriend/fiancé, then husband used to sing the chorus to me whenever something scary happened. After his death in 2011 I was walking through Bristol on my way to work and a busker was singing it. Then in 2012 I thought I would get away from it all, after the sad events of 2011, and booked a holiday in America, a touring holiday of the California Coast, etc.. I was in Palm Springs one evening and this song was being performed at a Karaoke bar. Uncanny. So much for getting away from it all! I think I can therefore call this song “Our Song”.

Yusuf / Cat Stevens, these songs are still fresh and relevant after all these years. And the man can still "do it". The voice and skill are still there. The ability to bring those years, back again as if they were just yesterday, truly remarkable, timeless and wonderful. After Elton, the highlight of this year's Glastonbury.

"He (Rushdie) must be killed. The Qur'an makes it clear - if someone defames the prophet, then he must die." Yusuf Islam ( aka Cat Stevens ) On August 12, 2022, Salman Rushdie suffered a knife attack as he was about to give a public lecture at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York, United States.

I had finished basic training in the U.S.A.F. and began training for my job at Keesler AFB in Mississippi when I first heard Cat Stevens songs. I was mesmerized! One of the friends I made while there was an oriental guy named Machado. When we'd play Moon Shadow we would substitute Moon Shadow with Machado. Fun times! My favorite LP's (which I still have) are Tea for rhe Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat.
