    This is exactly what I needed. Everytime while working on a project I used to think the lights are too harsh. I used to change the size but it would lower the intensity of the lights. I did used to think what if we had a softbox to diffuse light like in real life in blender 😂

    The problem with this is this is indirect lighting, and it have a cost. Noise and render time. You can simply build a procedural node setup for simillar. Or if render time doesen't matter, leomoon light studio, with real hdr studio lights is perfect. (almoast perfect, i used to add some other hdr-s for ligjt sources)

    I also think building a node setup for the lighting is a better solution, and you also gain much more control. But did you actually tested if there is a cost in noise and render time?

    Can't you get this same effect by increasing the size of the area light? Thats typically what I do. Larger source = softer source. Or is it different?

  • @jonojibway9379

    @jonojibway9379

    Жыл бұрын

    This would be different, take a look at the keyboard at 00:25 you can see the hard edge of the area light in the reflection of the keyboard case. Then take a look at 2:05 the hard edge has been replaced by a much softer gradient giving it a much softer look overall. On a technical level he is changing how blender calculates the light by adding that plane. Bigger light sources have softer shadows because bigger source = more light shooting in the same direction over a large area which helps the light bounce around the object and soften the shadows without affecting reflections. Adding the translucent plane essentially scatters the light so instead of a bunch of light rays going in the same direction, they go all over the place causing the light to be less focused and softer overall. Hope that's helpful!

Saving the editing to predominately the transitions helps prevent the main message from getting lost in the noise! Great job!

Seems this channel is a pretty good starting point, as, in less than three minutes, I learned about a technique that I now feel stupid for not thinking of sooner, one that would've solved a lot of problems I've had with past projects (if they can really be called that). @@Arghya_10 KZread wont have your exact creative process, which is why you need to experiment. I don’t know exactly how to make a perfect portal, but I have an idea of how you can imitate one. Make your character, rig it, then make its animation. Next duplicate it, move it to where you want the portal to exit, then in geometry nodes you will want to make a proximity setup to dissolve the model (you should use an empty), once you have the model dissolving based on proximity, simply reverse it for the duplicated character in relation to its empty. Then make the object you want as your portal, maybe a ring with a plain in it, set up its material, and key frame transparency/transmission nodes with noise nodes so you can have a quick appear and disappear at the specific frames. This is a very rough idea that I thought of on the spot, sorry if it can’t work. There are tutorials for making these effects, like iron man’s nano tech suit, and they can look good if you refine it.

    @@stonealicious_playz7426 well In broad terms, you want physics to simulate natural environments and its effects. So gravity and collisions, rain, dust, oceans, lava etc,, in general give a much better result when calculated by a computer. But to something more specific like a character moving or motion graphics in general you would animate by hand, be it pose to pose or frame by frame. There's an advanced middle ground in "art directable physics simulations", like the snow in Frozen. It needs to feel realistic but can't be loose and unpredictable like in the real world, so there needs to be a knowledge intersection from both worlds.

    👍Taught me about softboxes. 👎 Annoying, loud, and nonsensical memes (1:12, 1:31, 1:47), that make me want to dislike your video (though I didn't). Would've also been helpful if you did direct on-off comparisons of the softbox vs regular light.

    Argh. These overlaid clip cuts are horrible and are dating badly. May this style of editing be banished forever as it’s ruining what is some really good content. This has to be embarrassing for the poor guy.

    Al posto di fare video con intermezzi di cagate si potrebbe pensare di precisare meglio le cose ed approfondire i passaggi che si perdono per strada
