Young guns Max Scherzer & Clayton Kershaw replace Greg Maddux & Randy Johnson -- and put on a show!
Спорт
On Sept. 7, 2008, fans arrived at Dodger Stadium expecting to see a classic pitching showdown between Greg Maddux and Randy Johnson. When both Hall of Famers were scratched, those fans were treated to a battle between two of the next generation's premier aces: Max Scherzer (24 years old) and Clayton Kershaw (20).
With Vin Scully on the call, these young guns showed why they will likely have plaques of their own in Cooperstown. Kershaw struck out 4 D-backs and flashed his "Public Enemy No. 1" curveball. Scherzer punched out 11 Dodgers in only 5+ innings of work -- including K's of the last 6 straight hitters he faced!

2 HOFs (one quiet and one wild) with a HOF sportscaster & human being. How iconic this is. Scherzer, Kershaw, and Scully.
That’s some good baseball trivia. I didn’t know Kershaw was teammates with Maddux and Scherzer was teammates with Randy
@5:52 Russell Martin with a justifiable reaction to that pitch lol “what was that??” Also kinda looked like Scherzer responded by saying “change up” when walking off the field. Need @Jomboy Media for the lip readings lol
vin, you are missed.
Older generation of great pitchers passing on the batton to new generation of pitchers. I always thought Scherzer started his career with the Detroit Tigers had no idea he started in Arizona.
Think the oddest part is vin mispronouncing Scherzer’s last name 😅
Lol wow
