@@SwingingPythons the hardest part is keeping them from eating each other and the babies. The Smell and the bites r crazy. But through selective breeding my females were producing 15 to 20 pup litters 3 times a yr. The worst part is the risk of disease and lung infections no matter your ventilation sytem. I would breed my rats in the same room as my african soft furs. And the rats would sometimes get out and eat all the mice.

Can I ask you all something? I bred mice for a number of years, as pets. I'm in the middle of a discussion with a couple people. These people seem to think that mice in captivity VERY FREQUENTLY eat their babies. Like, it is a "princess and the pea" persnickety of stress that sets them to eating their babies. This makes no sense - pretty much, as long as you provide quality food, plenty of water, don't overpopulate,, keep clean etc you're good. I bred and raised hundreds of mice. My mice were very docile. Never had such issues. I'm not saying it doesn't happen - just that it's very rare.

  • @morrisnakes

@@bsm121 They have different terms for mouse sizes. Their "small adults" is what rodent pro is calling "large", so it's not quite as bad as it looks, but you have to buy 200 to get the same deal you get from a single bag of rodent pro. In high enough quantity it would end up slightly cheaper than rodent pro because they have free shipping over $69. For small rats, if you buy 150, it's actually about $35 cheaper and that's before free shipping. I actually might give them a shot because I buy in huge quantities anyways. We go through that in a month here. I'll stick to rodent pro for weird off sizes I don't use much of for sure though.

Not all, I've had some good experiences too with a company that has fair prices but it's inconsistent. I'd rather pay more and know my order is guaranteed and every single rodent I order is chunky and healthy with clean healthy fur and good musculature.

Everyone in the comments complaining about price... figure 90% of snake owners buy a rat every week or two for $7 each from their local pet store. They're selling to the people who don't want to store 10+ rats in their freezer. That's worth a lot to folks to not have a "rat freezer" in the garage.

1.)Most folks ordering rats online own more then a single snake 2.)Rats don’t cost $7 at a local shop I get jumbos for $4 in LA 3.) If your ordering frozen rodents you need to freeze them until you want to use them 4.) If your ordering rodents you need to make it worth the shipping prices so most people will buy as much as they can and freeze them to offset the prices Folks are surprised by these prices because they are charging more then anyone else in the industry for nothing different

@@briannelson3830 Totally agree with you there, and I probably could have explained more on my original comment. There's absolutely consumers out there who want to purchase an item at a higher price because that makes it feel higher quality, or they don't want to buy in bulk, or they don't want to go to a pet store to buy - this product is for them; not necessarily for the rest of us :) There are many products like this - anything luxury! Is this the top end luxury option for frozen rats? Maybe. And they need less than half the customers because they charge more than double the price!

@aprilMichelleXJRL how bout yall are both just as bad as anyone else. Get off your moral high horse. You keep animals in cages and then raise other animals in cages for the sole purpose of killing them. You think you're better than him and I think I'm better than you because I don't keep any animals in a cage for my personal pleasure. Leave them in the wild where they deserve to live. See how easy it is to play your stupid judgmental game?

I breed mice and rats in an enclosed room/ porch off my house. I feed Mazuri to help with the odor. But that is my biggest problem -the smell. When I open the door to go into the rodent room the smell comes into the house. I’m cleaning tubs every 3-4 days and it still smells. Is there any commercial deodorizer that is safe for the rodents? What did that facility smell like with Thousands of mice????
