I constructed some mice racks using another video and have run into some issues with the tub fit. I *really* like the way you have these constructed, just looking at the first few frames of the video I can see how you solved a lot of the problems I'm fighting right now. Dude, well done on those racks. I'll be watching your rack build videos and building out a new set of racks soon.

ive bred in the past I averaged 15-22 babies per litter, gave the mothers at least 2 weeks off after they finished weaning, but I separated females once pregnant into their own smaller tub, easy to make sure all getting fed and keeping mothers and litters straight, good video :)

FYI - Pine is very toxic to rats and literally makes breathing painful for them. Aspen would be a better wood choice. I understand these are feeders and aren't pets but the pressure on their respiratory system from the pine is very strong.

Very detailed video! I'm not in the snake business but I find these videos very interesting. I like the organization! I agree with you on the clear tubs getting more light which seems to me is more healthy for the snakes. The water bill is obsolete in my opinion. I work in irrigation and a typical (Residential) irrigation system runs about 12-15 gallons per minute. Depending on the time of year it could run from every day to 3-4 times a week for lets say 40 minutes. That's 520 gallons each cycle! If you fill your tubs every week totaling 15 gallons each time. That's a little over 800 gallons per year which is only two cycles of a sprinkler system. Probably too much information but thought I'd share. Well Done! I'm enjoying you channel!

How many racks and how many tanks per rack? And how many mice or rats to put in (male and female)? Another thing I did not understand is the rotation of males and females? remove the male? and pregnant females must be divided and alone? how often do you have spare parts to get new breeding machines? And last thing ... how do you do with the smell? you say that close to the ball python can stay .. but how do you smell it? I would like to keep them at home in the snake room .. can I? Thanks for all!

Well the brand new pups don't eat the food, they get milk from the mom. Once they are weaned off of the mom and eating solid food, the bedding is think enough they can reach the food. Also when the moms eat the food it breaks down into small enough pieces that fall through the mesh. That helps too.

We could never have the rats in our home in any way. Do you not notice any allergies at all. When we do work out in our rat shack we need to mask up and get in and out or we are sneezing, stuffed up messes. Is it just is?

So do retired breeders constantly produce milk? Or do they start producing milk when you bring the new borns into their tub?

Great video. I built a rat rack but it didn’t turn out as good as your so I didn’t want to show it. I need to build another one but this time I will get better wood to start with. Once your mama rats have babies do you take out the male

How often do you have to repair or change out your tubs due to the rats chewing through? I used to run black tubs like the ones you have but the rats would chew through the tubs. So I bought the Freedom Breeder rodent tubs, haven't had them chew through those yet, but I wanted to build another rack but I don't want to spend the $$ on the FB tubs again. Is there anything you do to counter act them chewing on the tubs? Thanks for your time great video by the way. -Travis

The best way to curb chewers is to identify them quickly and cull out asap, chewing on tubs is a learned behaviour.

What do you think about supplementing mice/ rat food with dog or cat food. Obviously I wouldn't feed them only this but I would give them half to a third of the dry food as supplement dog / cat food. And on top of that I would still feed them vegetables. I mean I've seen a dozen different people on KZread having success with this method I was just wondering if you I have anything against it?
