Yep. I tried to strike a good balance of Breaking News reprints vs non-breaking news ones, and a mix of both high value and lower value but still really played cards.

I got a bonus sheet version force of vigor in my pre release kit and saw that it was going for big money so I got super excited then found it had two bonus sheet prints and I got the not big money version, instant deflation but still happy I got a good card.

Yeah if your deck is black like you just put it in. There's nothing to think about. It's an auto include.

My friend pulled a Mana Drain at a prerelease, we eatin' good tonight.

I love that Mana Drain is so old it used to be considered a downside when it was first printed. Because Mana Drain was still an existing mechanic. Without Mana Drain it's become literally the best counter spell ever.

To be fair even when mana drain was printed it was still ran in nearly every deck that could run it. Even then the extra mana was not that big of a downside when you could realistically get an extra turn's worth of added mana.

mana drain was reprinted a ton in 2022 (2x2) AND commander legends.

Today someone gave me his old cards and Pongify was the only value Card among them, but I found it great.

Mana Drain and reanimate is the pinnacle of money over fun.

I started playing in the 2010s and dear lord the power creep though

Love yhe Feather the redeemed glimpse. Still my favorite commander to have fun with.

I pulled a mana drain from one of the packs I got for wining a prerelease game, first time going to one too.

me and my friend group love pongify every time it has been played I have been playing the scrappy survivors fallout precon voltron deck and on of my creatures get pongified or curse of swined and i win with that ape every time by beefing it up

Mindbreak trap should be mention. That card is huge

Because whether or not it’s good is entirely dependent on both how much bonus colorless mana you get from it, and how much of the bonus colorless mana you have use for. The less of it you get or can use, the more it’s just a slightly better Counterspell. Not to mention it can also be countered just as easily as whatever it was itself cast to counter. It’s a great card, but hardly unfair outside of how much money it costs to buy one (even the Breaking News variant is around $30)

Mana drain hasn't been reprinted un a while? Are you high? It was reprinted in DM2022 and in Commander Legends.

Each OTJ pack has a 'bonus sheet' card that's a reprint from a previous set.

Yes it does. It brings the commander into your hand and then you can cast it from there.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how crazy good it mana drain actually? Because I pulled one from a play booster I got from Walmart. It had that and tiny bones in the same pack. Best 6 bucks I ever spent but wasn’t sure how good they both were. Just know they both made me my money back that day

What I meant more by that was, as Commander gets faster (as in, cards get more powerful and efficient), more and more things are going to be mana value 3 or less and so the card gets better. I didn't mean within one particular game. Hope this helps :)

The Breaking News reprints are, the commander reprints are not.

Yep. You’ll get a Breaking News card in every pack. You can use them in draft and sealed but they don’t change the legality of the cards for things like standard.

Remember when staple reprints weren't only in alt sets from the main set? Reprinting them this way does almost nothing to make them accessible to people who don't want to buy a 30 dollar piece of cardboard. You get a chance to get it sure but whales/collector are still being catered to

For the Breaking News (newspaper style) reprints, there's one in every pack, so they typically are pretty common and end up causing the prices to drop a bunch, which is great for helping players get the cards they want to play with.

Will this really be a meaningful reprint? Or just one where the spike in demand matches or exceeds the small increase in supply?

For the Breaking News cards, I expect a massive increase in supply. You get one breaking news card in each pack, and similar high priced mythics in similar bonus sheets like Ragavan have about halved in price.

But even midrange is faster than ever as more and more sets come out, it's just natural that as we get strictly better versions of previous cards that games will take less and less turns.

So annoying that every time a new set is out everyone is talking about reprints for commanders. Those cards are drastically ruining the drafting experience and has 0 use in standard. Embarrassing.

Personally, I think that bonus sheets make for better draft experiences most of the time. It allows them to add cards that they wouldn't want in standard, but can be fun in limited.

Pongify is a 5 pounds card in 2024 wtf

Those are some high level reprints. I wasn’t interested in this set. I might have to get a box now.
