Wait, who got caught benching with a deadlift bar & slingshot? 😂

I trained using a stiff bar only, and the first time I ever used a deadlift bar was in competition. I was a little shocked at the difference it made - might have partly been the adrenaline, but a weight that was difficult in training, I could have easily added at least another 20 pounds to with how fast it flew up in comp.

Makes that much of a difference? it felt heavier the couple times i've ever used it except today on my deload week.. it felt good.. Now thinking about using it from now on starting my new program next week.. Once i get used to it.. see how much of a difference it feels..

It's same thing with running now. Ever since carbon plated running shoes came to the market in 2017, PRs get better and better. With deadlift, I can give up the belt and knee sleeves but not the hand straps. My grip tires out way before all my other muscles.

With this topic in mind How do yall feel about bringing your own personal bar to a commercial gym, no matter if it’s a Power or Deadlift Bar?

I did this in a commercial gym in china that had fucked power bars 3/5 of them had a bend in the middle. Brought my own powerbar and training immediately became better and more consistent, when i left china i left the bar with them.

Unfortunately the sport requires the diversity because supplement companies are mostly supporting bodybuilding, and its the equipment sponsors that put most of the money in powerlifting. And they need to sell their different bars, sleeves, wraps etc, i wouldnt wonder if some federations will allow for wider plates too

At the end of the day, every person I’ve come across friends or whoever and we are “competing” in comp or just trynna one up eachother, I don’t care if they younger, knee sleeves, belt, no belt, D lift bar, stiff, age, height, at the end of the day if it makes sense, and they out lift me or the other way around, they win or I win

  • @johnree5958

Stiff bar across federations would be better since you would only use one bar for each lift. I find it ridiculous that they have to use a squat bar, a power bar, and a deadlift bar for one competition

If everyone should use a stiff bar then everyone should deadlift conventional.

The idea of taking away supportive equipment is dumb. You're pushing out people (a small minority, but they exist) who feel pain or discomfort lifting without them. Supportive equipment is also available to pretty much everyone, and the products from all the different brands are all pretty similar. That's not the same as bars used in specific meets in specific parts of the world that you may or may not need to travel to, and may not have available to you in any nearby gym.

Deadlift bar only makes a difference if you are lifting 500lbs and up on lb plates, and 600lbs+ on kilo. You can use the slack pull to your advantage with the more weight you have on there

Great points. I think there should be stiff bar and no sleeves/belts/suits and most importantly 100% randomized drug testing. Without the aids and drugs we would be returning to the theoretical roots.

Every sport will have advancements in technology/equipment and disagreements on everything. Just fucking lift how you want and quit bitching.
