i will never understand why they stopped showing the in-studio reactions to the recordings. seeing them laugh at eachother/themselves along with the task makes it so much better

I think the producers explained it was because they think it flows better with just the recordings playing, plus it allows them to fix things in the studio in the meantime if something isn't quite right. Completely agree though, shame they stopped doing it after series 7

I only watch the UK and the Swedish versions, and I think they still do it in the Swedish version, and great lord is it nice to see them laugh at each other

Unsigning Josh's football is the most unrecognised act of cruelty in the show's history 😂

I absolutely love when Ramesh breaks character. Hes trying so hard to be the straight man, looking all grumpy, and then when you see him cackle its just pure gold lol

I LOVE how argumentative series 1 was, but the vibes are still amiable y’know? It’s really like watching a bunch of close friends together

The “give me Frank Skinner’s age in minutes” tiebreaker is still one of my favorite banters in the whole show. Every sentence was funny

I always lose it at the melon splatter. It's so visceral 😂

There is a very popular song “papa don’t preach” by madonna which generally talks about how she doesn’t need someone else to tell her what to do( preach what she should do). Rosh was being preachy about how unfair it is to breach the pie, she said the phrase “papa don’t breach” when she was called out on the same.

Im not sure that this show would have made it if it hadnt been this set of comics. The chemistry they had with each other and Greg and Alex was perfect. But also, Josh getting Greg tatooed on his foot I think may have been the absolute deal sealer

Frank Skinner, the real one! Because he agreed to be a part of it, it got the credibility to continue and people agreed to be on future episodes. Fucking boss! Also I will also have a special place in my heart for that Watermelon slam. Season1 was the best and so chaotic!

I miss this lot, wish they got more episodes. Especially Tim still the best cheater they had.

The early seasons had the best banter between contestants.

Amazing series to kick it off. All the cheating and arguing over points and places never really reached this height ever again. It's less of a 'fun experience' here and more of an actual adversarial competition, it's hilarious.

Makes me want to watch the first series all over again.

I know Romesh was the highlight of the melon task but Roisin eating one drop is so underrated 😂😂😂

Thank you Frank Skinner for allowing this show to excel and given the chance yo grow

@@steveoconnivo9666 no he was a huge comedian back in the day and a huge name on the business in the UK. Aside from Greg and Alex's friends other contestants were very nervous about going on the show for fear of just being humiliated. Frank Skinner came out of no where and offered to join. Once he joined everyone felt Away more comfortable about doing the show. It's very likely it he didn't give it a shot this show wouldn't of existed

The first series was one of the best.

This series was the best, when the contestants have a go at each other it much funnier. Now everybody are so nice to each other. You want a bit of friendly banter.

They really nailed the cast in series 1, set the programme up for the next seasons.

All these years later im curious if they switched footballs, it was never actually signed, or they genuinely wiped off all the signatures

I'm from U.S. - the only reason I've heard of some of these guys is because of Countdown, which I started watching because it was suggested after watching other number "games". I absolutely loved Sean Lock vs Jon Richardson and would have loved to see Sean on Taskmaster! He would have destroyed the competition!

Shows always been funny but these guests are more Argumentative then usual and it's hilarious.

This is still the best season. My favorites are when the contestants have this sort of banter. ❤

Got to be honest with the title. I was expecting this to be mostly Josh Widdecombe

Greg said later (on a chat show) that all of the things they bring in for the special task are returned.

We reserve "wanker" for when we're feeling properly contemptuous. We use plank, cabbage, lamp, turnip, plum, for when we're feeling dismissive, which is most of the time.

Wanker does have quite aggressive undertones...and it's quite common...especially among the football hooligan community. Insults such as bellend, cockwomble and fucknugget are more elegant and quintessentially English.

I’m a fan of pretty much all the people on this show, and yet still have never watched it. Don’t even really know the premise of the show. I’m going to start tonight. I love cats do countdown, would I lie to you , etc, but for some reason never seen this??

I get that it was new but such a difference in production value of the studio in series one versus now. This looks like it was filmed in a basement

The problem I have with Tim on rewatch is that instead of going along with the challenges and banter from the other contestants, he tends to shut them down with 'shut up' or similar. Not as fun.

First season was the best. 4 people who want to win, and one silly person. That's a good formula. It's not good if the majority of the contestants is silly.

In the first episode of the latest series, Greg made a throw-away comment about trying to be more nice. My concern is that UK Taskmaster may now start pandering to international audiences who don't quite grasp the nuances of British sarcasm and irreverence, as seen here in these make-pretend spats. You only have to look at KZread comments to see how upset people were getting when Greg laid into the contestants, forgetting that this is a great British comedy where this kind of behaviour is expected. I hope I'm wrong. There's always viewer adjustment to a new series of new contestants, so I'm praying that the latest series will witness more classic anarchic behaviour, like we see in this clip, with Greg continuing to passify them with his withering put-downs. I'm pinning my hopes on Sophie to provide some more bonkers, off-the-wall moments 😁
