The post office no longer needs to register vehicles. The IRS can seize assets based on their 'word'. The ATF is just the next in line. I'll wager that middle-managers at all these outfits give the Nazi salute behind closed doors.

They're cutting off the ability to sell before the nationwide registry happens. Confiscation is not the first step. There are pre-steps to Confiscation.

Most of this should be proven unconstitutional (if only for vagueness) in court...but the Process is the Punishment.

I was at a gun show in Phoenix yesterday. There were a whole lot of people thinning their collections before it becomes illegal. However although they said they wanted to get rid of them, the prices didn't reflect that. Seems like they still figured everyone's a millionaire. As far as this crap is concerned. Needs to be challenged in the courts at every level in every way possible.

What if we gift a gun but charge for the mags what the cost of the gun would be? I didn't sell a firearm I sold mags!

I can tell you that for sure won't fly. The feds look at the substance of the transaction, not the formalities. On the other hand, if you bought a revolver for $700, and added nice handmade grips, you could probably charge a reasonable price for the extra grips - say $100 for instance. I like this channel, but I will say there are other channels with more legally precise descriptions of the new reg, and you should look at those if you plan to make a sale. I think the new reg is mostly a lot of fuss but not a ton of actual change. The law was confusing before, and it continues to be confusing afterward. It makes the gun control crowd feel good though, and it is an election year.

You can’t even sell it to an FFL or have him sell it for you for a commission. If you could make a profit, You have to have an FFL to sell or trade off your collection. So I guess this will also outlaw all those “gun buy back programs” the leftist love so much. No, I expect only those poor slobs that sell their gun to the buyers standing outside the buy back will be targeted. This can not stand. It’s time to pull out your wallet and donate to the 2nd Amendment Foundation.

So many people are selling these days because the economy is shit and they need the extra cash just to live.

If we're all gun dealers now, then that must mean I can go to Davidson's and get the wholesale pricing.

In Florida there's no requirement for a paper trail person to person. If you have no reason to believe the person is a felon, it's ok to sell it to them. But they must be a Florida resident. There are a lot of flea markets that have a lot of private buy/sell/trade tables throughout the state. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in Florida.

Also, I sold a cleaning kit and threw the firearm in for free. You can't regulate free.

I think ATF needs to be flooded with applications along with your state and local governments 130,000,000 FFL dealers.

The guy they murdered was 100% in need of an FFL, he was a dealer 100% Still not an excuse to murder the guy.

What they neglect to mention in the article is that the wording of the ATF's new legislation uses the word "intent" a lot in many key phrases, such that this new rule operates on the logic that anyone who owns a gun is automatically presumed to be intending to sell that gun, making everyone who owns a gun a gun dealer.

"Control" is the key word

Like I said a few years ago, soon the ATF will reclassify the ore still in the ground as machine gun parts.

You can't get good dollars from an FFL anyway. $1000 gun may bring $250 at an FFL. Private sales are the only way to get atleast $600 or more.

Before last Christmas I sold six of my guns to fund the purchase of a new one. I lost money on each of those six sales compared to what I originally bought them for. But as far as I can tell if I did the same thing today I would be a felon. I know a lot of C&R collectors have expressed that they are not worried because of a clause at the end in "the final rule" that says it exempts something-something private collections. It does not sound to me like the ATF is really going to take that exemption seriously.

How would they know if you privately sold a gun to someone 5 years ago or yesterday

If I read it correctly, then you are in violation of this rule even if you use a different FFL dealer to complete the sale to another person.
