That sounds like a great rifle and I love the Warrior Poet Society slung you've got on it too. Very cool! By the way, I think you'll appreciate this, my wife beats everyone we invite over to shoot skeet with us. Just crams us all. And, although I was a sniper in the military, I'm a rifle guy, not a shotgun guy. She's the man when it to those,, LOL! Be safe, well, and happy. 😅

@PlainJane Oh my, I had just written an answer and it disappeared. Bloody hell. Ah well. Anyway, she is fun. She's now a mental health counselor, but in her first career she was a zoologist. She went on an expedition to Belize, before it became a tourist destination. Her responsibility was to count jaguars. Crazy, right? Jaguars have the greatest bite strength of all of the great cats. We've known each other since we were 15 in high school. She was my HS GF's best friend, and she and I were friends. Just friends, though we had 2 friend dates and we had fun together. Then, I moved away and joined the military. She went to university and got married and had a daughter. That's when she was a zoologist. Time went by, she got divorced. She eventually bought this farm. Thirty five years after we had last seen each other, I saw her on Facebook, so I began chatting with her. Then we talked on the phone. This was November. Then she invited me here for New Year’s Eve. I said yes. Then, when she hugged me at the airport, I just knew there was a Cherokee name that was right for her, Avenasa, which means my home. I told this to her. She was touched. We fell in love. We got married. We still love each other so much. We know this is it. There's nothing else. We have talked about it, and both agree. Pretty amazing, right? It all began when we were 15.

As long as your husband drives you too the range, I'm down with it (Jokes jokes, chill people) I went BCM mod0 "gunfighter" lower matched with their 16" standard/government/?6020? Profile. Printed my own mags years ago because laws (same reason I got the rifle, I'd prefer a better sude arm and camera system but the law said I had to get an "assult rifle" early this year) with a cheap Ozark rear site and jimmy rigged sling but she shoots better than I do! I choose BCM over DD because it was the last lower in my town, and the upper was possibly priced wrong (it was in ironsites and they gave me a free handguard)

IT should be perfectly clear to all red blooded patriotic Americans that the Daisy Red Ryder with the tactical compass and Tasco scope is the undisputed perfect rifle for all one eyed people. Ammo is cheap, plentiful, its stealthy silent, light, maneuverable, easy to maintain, high capacity, deadly accurate sub hour of angle accuracy out to 10yds, and anti 2a friendly given lever action but still fairly quick to cycle.

I needed some good old fashioned gun talk. Thanks. I personally like AR platform, 5.56, 16" carbine, mid length gas, with all the goodies. Then the AK47 Zastava with a side folding stock. Then my perfect after that is Henry side gate 20" 44 mag lever action with ghost ring sights. Those are my top 3. There are too many different applications and considerations to pick a perfect rifle but if I could have only one then a good 16"AR in 5.56 is my go to for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A .rifle in between 243-..280 caliber would probably serve you better on heavier game, .22-250 bullets are too small and light to really cause instant kills on larger animals, you aren't getting a headshot in the perfect spot everytime, you don't want to make something suffer for a long period after you shoot it. The thought of that hurts my feelings a bit and all you needed was a 6ARC, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x39 or 9x39 with quality ammo loaded hot.

Howdy folks, I'm 69 years old and have been shooting since I was 8 having been taught by my grandfather who was a competition shooter. Military, police, contractor and civilian service shooting is my experience and I am very familiar with many different guns and calibers. So, with that being said, what is the perfect rifle? It's the one you have and KNOW how to use effectively (shot placement). You would be surprised what I have shot with a little 22lr. However, if I had to choose one rifle and only one for everything it would be the 25-06, bolt action, 26 inch barrel and a 1-8x40 scope.

As a fellow gun nut, and being raised by an old school cowboy like my dad was, I was influenced a bit on my firearms, I definitely want a semiautomatic, mag fed rifle.. I always like an AR and I’m not a snob about it, I like ‘em all, .556. I was in love with my Ruger Mini 14 though too.. those are my top probably .. but I like a good long range 308, 30-06, and I like to play with the old Marlin 336 30/30 also, just love ‘em . Carbines, long rifle, brush guns, it’s tough to pick.. I got love for them all.

This is always a fun topic! I think it’s very subjective to where you live. I actually built mine recently. Living in rural Ohio I have miles of flat ground and more deer than people. My idea was a rifle that just works every time and that I can easily fix or maintain. I built a 308 AR on Aero M5e1 receiver set with a faxon fluted 18” SS barrel with a black finish. I used a titanium muzzle break and adjustable gas block with a buffer that compresses to absorb a little extra recoil. I’m saving up for a vortex razor 1-10 to put on it. So far, it’s the smoothest shooting rifle I’ve owned and with the stock collapsed it’s not too long for the 3 gun courses I’ve taken it to. I only have about 1000 rounds through it now but haven’t been able to get it to hang up yet.

The best rifle for any situation is the one you've trained with. If you haven't trained with it and know it forward and backward then it's just another hammer in your toolbox that you've never used. Get good with 3 rifles ranging from .556 to 308 and then you've got it covered for most situations.

@Kevin Hart I have no idea where you came up with this rant?? You can't get any other gun except the one you mentioned? Guns are like tools, they each have their place depending on what the mission calls for. If you're going to use weight considerations you'd be way off from military standards which would be 80 pounds of gear and a rifle. Where did you come up with 40lbs? If you are my target and my shot is at distance I'll drop you where you stand with a 308 before you ever see me. The 308 is just one choice in a sea of long-range calibers that have even better performance at distance, but you go ahead and do what you want cause it's still slightly a free country and see how that works out for you. P.S. I've put consistent shots on target at 800 yards with a 308 and it's really not any heavier than lugging around an AK as far as the weight of the gun and ammo.

Must be lightweight, reliable, moderately accurate, suppressable, capable of day or night use, and have ease of spare parts in SHTF. My go-to is my 12.3” Hanson barreled 5.56 with a Vltor A5-H2 and Sprinco Green. It runs the Dead Air flash hider for my various Sandman variants. Using 75-77gr makes up for most of the ballistic issues that 5.56 deals with. I run the Aimpoint T2 on a Unity FAST mount. I optionally run the EOTech 5x magnifier with Unity QD mount. Easy to deploy quickly for mission. Just keep in pouch in pack. I run the BCM MCMR handguard for best weight to rigidity. Up front I run a top mounted Streamlight TLR-VIR II for white/IR light/IR laser. Without the can or magnifier in its sub-8 pounds. It can do everything day or night, just falls short for extreme long range. Also runs the Geissele SS-X.

I own my 2 favorite rifles of all time and I've had them for quite a few years. One was a present from my wife, which was quite a surprise because the next year she bought me the dream car I had wanted since the year 2000. A 2003 Mercedes-Benz CL 55 AMG. With a 5.4 liter, supercharged V8 engine producing 493 bhp and 516 ft-lbs of torque. The interior is sheer luxury, while under the hood is raw power. The car is a German Muscle Car. Talk about a great gift! Ok, back to the perfect rifle. She bought me a Rock River Arms LAR-15 Elite Operator. I think Rock River Arms makes the most durable, accurate, and easy-to-manage rifles. Since we have our own shooting ranges here at our farm, as long as I've gotten my intractable migraine somewhat under control, then I love to shoot this rifle. When she took me to check it out, not only did I shoot the RRA LAR-15, so did she. It wasn't until SHE shot the RRA LAR-15 did it get final approval. My next favorite rifle is an FN Herstal Mauser 98, in 30-06. I have mine sitting in an Archangel stock, which I happen to love. It's a love/hate relationship with the Archangel stock, and I just love mine. I just added a Sig Sauer BDX 2.0 system to this rifle which is a really interesting juxtaposition. The Mauser 98 rifle design goes back over 100 years and the Sig Sauer BDX 2.0 system is the latest technology. The main reason that I got the Sig Sauer BDX 2.0 system is so that I can relive my sniper days when I was a young military sniper and could shoot the eyes out of a mosquito at 500 meters. The reason that I didn't buy another rifle is that I've been shooting the 30-06 round since I was a 10-year-old. I know it very well and the round is available everywhere, which I see as a huge advantage. A lot of my former sniper buddies give me a hard time about sticking with my 30-06 round. They think I should be using 308 or 338, etc, etc, etc ... I'll stick with my 30-06, thank you very much. So, there are my 2, one battle rifle and one sniper rifle. All yours folks ...

Being a lefty and taking everything into account. A dt mdrx in a mid 6mm cartridge, 30 Rd mag, PA plxc with an offset red dot, full power ir laser ilum, shorter weapon light and a good can. Reloads can be trained, good adjustable gas block, the weight out front would keep the muzzle down being a bullpup design, also the mdrx has that upgraded forend with the integral bipod

Perfection is in the eye of the beholder. If my MDRX was a pound or two lighter, for instance, I'd consider my specific example to be pretty perfect (zero issues) and well suited for me. Or a Tavor. Throw on a Romeo8t and a 5 or 6x magnifier? Excellent. I appreciate the handiness and modularity of bullpups, as well as the 16" + barrel. Value those aspects a lot more as a suburbanite than most others.

Mag fed, semi auto, .308, great modern ergonomics, back up sights, low magnification optic, under 8 lbs, proven operating system, good weather/corrosion resistance, good parts availability, accessory compatible, value for dollar....oh yeah, my Springfield Saint Victor.308 already fits that bill! I like everything about this rifle and it checks all the boxes for me. Its capable of doing anything i could possibly need to do with a rifle. While not perfect for anything, its not left wanting for much either! Ive been through a lot of .308 rifles over the years including a few AR-10 pattern rifles(because the AR platform is the best!) And none of the before this one met all of my criteria. HK91/PTR91 had been as close as id found. But lack of bolt hold open, ergonomics and accessory mounting were deal breakers.

The Springfield M1A National Match is THE perfect rifle. 1 - More than adequate caliber, the 7.62x51 NATO. 2 - THE caliber that is ubiquitous in all NATO countries and isn't close to being made obsolete like the 5.56 is now. 3 - Semi-auto. 4 - Magazine fed. 5 - Combat proven action with no weaknesses and extremely rare problems of any kind. 6 - Construction in materials that will last for decades: no parts that need periodic replacement. 7 - A rifle you could coat in Cosmoline, wrap in wax paper, put in a wooden crate and bury, then come back in a hundred years, clean it and it would work.

This should've been done in segments. This topic deserves a stand-alone video on certain things such as bullpup or conventional, theoretical cartridges even if they don't exist, such as 300 ham'r necked down to run 6mm pills at the sig hybrid case pressures, discuss certain ergonomic features such as truly mirrored controls and swappable or downward/forward/upward diverted ejection that could be dependent upon shouldering for cornering and detail how a tool less, in field swap could be possible if at all needed. Y'all could do a better job at this having watched since Eric was in the gunstore... please give this another chance as a long form what would you do as the head of a new wealthy nation where you two could go every feature desired, nothing off the table. Example: Senex Arms prototype bullpup MBLR-15

I don’t know if you guys have heard of the “David Tubbs” AR-15 spring kits. I would definitely do a video on AR spring kits. His full spring kits have to have been known to fire for 25,000 to 30,000 round coung without a single failure. Mil Spec only are designed to fire for 5,000rds. And we all know springs are the heart of any semi automatic rifle ar platform. They only cost $30 if i remember. When i researched every part on the AR and the reason David Tubbs kits are made of ChromeOly Steel. Oh and by the way he has been the best long range shooter for the last many years. And at the very least i would buy one of his extractor string(s). maybe one extra on your extra bolt that you put in your extra bolt you put in the handle storage. Please look into it, I wouldn’t want to be in a firefight and have my extractor spring break, not that it would be a quick swap but you’d be able to fairly get your AR back in working order. Please comment!!

With a good muzzle brake the .308 can be tamed down for weaker people. Side arm , 10mm with 6 inch barrel.
