Hi Dr. Ekberg. Can you do a video(s)/series on high protein keto vs keto vs carb cycling and vs cyclical keto? I ask because I'm a young women with HS in my early 30s and hope to have my own family. I started keto to manage HS and hope to lose weight (mostly belly fat) and neither really happened drastically like others have raved about; I also fasted. I felt better, lots of hyperpigmentation lessened especially around my neck, my HS flares decreased but didn't stop and I lose a few inches off my belly. My biggest issue was stress (had it pre keto and trying to manage cortisol) sleep (already had insomnia but it worsened with keto), I think I lost hair but have thick curls so it's not as noticeable; I believe I lost some of my hips lol. But many women said that they weren't losing weight and had similar symptoms and switched to high protein keto and had success. Other women recommend carb cycling if you still have a period like me which I tried but I don't think my digestion likes; trying to figure out how to do it and not feel miserable. Then I also want to do more resistance training and heard about cyclical keto. I'm the midst of all of this I'm never quite sure if I should be limiting my calories or not. There are so many options. I'm new to training and just want a healthy body but want to keep diabetes at bay and HS. I loved keto for mental clarity and aside from the fake sweeteners for my coffee and gluten free keto bread, I ate real food and liked the concept. Any tips, thoughts based on fitness and health goals would be appreciated! P.S. I still have belly fat and less hips from my last attempt at keto. I recently got sick so I'm back on carbs BRAT food at the moment 😢.

a video about hot to make Tabasco Sauce / Tabasco Sriracha (with more vinegar) would be nice. The Store bought version has sugar unfortunately, but I bet we can make a healthy KETO Tabasco sauce with Chili, Garlic, Vinegar, some spices, and maybe a healthy thickening agent if there is something like that...

As somebody who has gone from 225 to 190 since April following only what i have learned watching this channel, I'm not impressed by 15 percent weight loss from Ozempic. My entire costs have been walking shoes, the time it takes to walk every day, and to buy better food. Zero loose skin, 2 blood pressure medications ditched, 5 lbs gain in muscle and bone mass, and A1c from 6.3 to 5.0 I cannot imagine spending $1000 per month to deal with Ozempic side effects instead of just buckling down and fixing the problem.

I was on ozempic for type 2 diabetes but was also overweight. I was on it for 4 months and lost 10lbs and it lowered my A1c by 1 point. The reason I stopped taking it was because it was reducing my muscles and not my fat. I'm on carnivore diet now and weight training to build back up my muscles and I lost 50lbs, and lowered A1c to 5.5 since changing my diet. I'm a 63yr old widow.

It amazes me how many doctors don't want to fix the root cause of anything. I found a new physician after losing 60lbs of keto, reversing prediabetes and bringing my blood pressure down. My PCP demanded I stop doing keto, forbid me from stopping unneeded Statins and HBP meds. I found a new doctor by the end of that day, and I've been off all meds for 2 years. Thank you for keeping me motivated. There's always something new to learn!

I didn't even know it affected weight until I had been on it 3 months and stepped on the scales in the doctor's office and I lost almost 30 lbs!! Being on the drug has regulated my numbers. I no longer have pounding headaches or fear of sugar highs. I've never been a big sweets person. But I've been concerned about what the drug is doing. I've gone off the usual prescribed drugs like statins and blood pressure meds. Still want to wean off of it and am modifying my diet so I can get surgery for my injuries and get out of this chair. I did both. I spent 3 months with 4 day IF and a Keto diet when I broke that fast and also took ozempic and did 10k daily walks. I basically halved my resting heart rate, blood pressure, visceral fat percentage and entered the range of pre-diabetic, basically solved a lot of health problems. I understand a sudden shift like that Is not sustainable but the point was to pull me back from an unhealthy edge. I think personally the benefit of ozempic is actually it _lets_ you tackle the other aspects of weight loss, habit forming etc without also having to think about curbing mal-adapted relationships to food and hunger. Like any tool it can be used well or lazily. I think the discussion of it as a dangerous shortcut are equally as overblown as the talk of it as a super drug. Like most things in life, channels like yours are the answer. Knowledge and preparedness. I did my research, I understood the problems and available solutions and tried things until something worked for me.

I have lost significant weight for the 1st time really in 15 years. I have lost 100lbs using a glp1 called mounjaro. Prior to taking it i had done LCHF with fasting for 7 months and lost 10lbs and gained back 18lbs. No matter what i did it didnt work. I am still doing LCHF and fasting but adding in the glp1 and everything changed for me. I have multiple chronic issues from t2d, pcos, failed back surgery, fibromyalagia, ect. I agree that to many people take this and dont put in the work. But do be aware there are some people like me who do everything right and completely change their lifestyle and do not get results from that alone. I went from a 12 a1c to a 6 in a year and a half thanks to lifestyle and this medication. I really do believe if people are educated and this medication is only given to people who actually need it then it will be a huge benefit, but there has to be that accountability from the drs as well that they make sure the people taking it are changing lifestyle not just taking this drug as a fad like Hollywood is doing now.

I stay at 1.0 to get eating right until it becomes a habit. Approved for 3 years. Hoping to just need it for two. Exercise and exercise should reduce the diabetis. I say this a lot, it seems; but this is one of the best videos you've ever made, which not only touches upon achieving real health, but what many people do to address problems without the goal being to pursuit real health. Many don't understand health apart from being symptom free. The only problem is that many things can be very, very wrong, health-wise, without displaying symptoms! You are a true health advocate!!! Thank you so much!

75 lbs in 3 months which is only 12 weeks??? That is a 25 lb weight loss a month. Totally unhealthy and sounds more like gastric bypass or lap band sleeve to me. Not many humans lose 25 lbs a month, you're helping to set people up for disappointment, most people lose up to 6 or 7 lbs a month or less.

Gastric paralysis is horrible. I knew a woman who died from it 5 years after having gastric bypass surgery. She has withered away to nothing because her body wasn’t digesting the food nor taking any of the nutrients. She was on constant IV the last couple of years and constantly in and out of the hospital. So sad. She left two small children.

I've been on phentermine for 1 and 1/2 months. I've lost 16 pounds honestly it's been great. I need to lose weight and I need a calorie deficit to do it. It has allowed me to completely reevaluate my diet and activity level. It has helped me to eat low carb and completely healthy/ non processed foods. I get good fats and protein: I just don't binge. It's been a great medication for me and I've had zero side effects. The side-effects from Ozempic sound horrible. I'd much rather be on phentermine for 3 months and continue my healthier lifestyle than deal with having to take an injection for extended period. But hey: the medication was created for people with type 2 Diabetes in the first place.

Im not planning to stay in it for the whole year, but i feel that it helped with my A1C and vlood pressure. I believe the main problem is when you are not diabetics and take it for weight lost and increase doses every to weeks. But I agree with the Doc. No meds is better

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March of 2023. My A1C was 12.3 and my blood glucose was 180. I had gestational diabetes so i kind of felt like my blood sugar was an issue. I started Ozempic in April 2023. My A1C went down to 6 in 5 months! My blood glucose has steadily been in the 100s to 120s. My cholesterol has been great! I lost 22 lbs in 6 months. I am physically active. I do cardio and lift weights. I had some nausea, diarrhea, bloating and gas the first 3 months. But since my A1C was so high, my endo and PCP recommended i take Metformin and Ozempic. Metformin gave me stomach cramps, bloating, gas, diarrhea. My endo took me off of Metformin and i rarely have stomach issues. Heres the issue, i have now been on Ozempic for one year. My A1C is 6, my blood glucose is good, cholesterol is good. However, the Ozempic is no longer curbing my appetite, curbing my cravings and making me feel full. As far as the side effects.. . Every pill you take has a side effect. Antobiotics give me stomach isues. Anti anxiety meds can cause suicidal thoughts. Statins can cause severe joint pain. Nexium can cause bone loss. So if we are going to talk side effects, remember all meds have side effects. Lastly, the ole "you dont need drugs, just a lifestyle change" argument is SO B.S. I am very fit. I exercise at least 5 to 6 days a week. I lift weights 3 times a week. I battle craving bad carbs. I am post menopausal so i have low energy, problems sleeping, very hungry some days then not hungry others. I eat half of my plate of veggies, lean proteins, and fiber rich foods. It's not that easy! Funny thing is, when i was a child and a teen, i was bony and thin. We walked everywhere. We roller skated 3 times a week, we swam almost every day if not storming. I ate whatever i wanted and barely weighed 100 lbs. Some kids spread rumors that i had an eating disorder. I was teased and picked on. I was told i look like a child in Africa. Now, i am about 15 lbs overweight and people tell me I'm fat. Society puts an emphasis on what womens bodies should look like. And i am NOT having lipo or fat removal or tummytuck, etc. SMDH!

I started mounjaro (tirzepetide) in January and also started carnivore at the same time. The medication is a godsend, I just worry about long term affects. Since January I have had the following results: Weight: was 380, now 315 A1C: was 9, now 5.8 It definitely changes your relationship with food, bringing on apathy as far as the desire to eat. It also kills cravings for many other things besides food…I no longer drink diet soda or coffee… I just no longer want it. I feel so much better, and so many other bad effects of my diabetes is fading away. I am moving more, and have hope again. Hard to say if it’s the med, carnivore or both. However if the changes you make while taking it are not something you plan to keep in place, you cannot expect to keep the results. For me it’s also about no longer eating processed foods of any kind as well. It’s about weight, but more so about health

Thank you for your clear, balanced, and detailed videos; in a sea of conflicting information, it is so helpful to find good teachers and credible advisors. I took Ozempic but supplemented it with intermittent fasting and a "ketovore" diet; incredibly, I dropped from 240 lbs to 190 in 8 weeks, and my a1c dropped from 12.0 to 6.9. I was fearful of dependency on Ozempic, so I went off it just before the holidays, and sadly, I also fell off the wagon with my diet, so I returned to 220 lbs over December and January. I watched your video because I was tempted to resume the Ozempic; however, I do believe that most of my weight loss was due to my dietary improvements, not the medication. Therefore, I have resumed my ketovore diet and already started losing weight again, and for the first time, I am adding exercise to my regimen by shooting for 10,000 - 15,000 steps/day with a weighted vest. Without Ozempic, my weight loss may be slower, but I hope to avoid side effects and adopt healthy habits that will produce lasting results.

NP here. There were other recent concerns that were identified by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Their data shows that GLP-1 agonists, like Ozempic, can lead to delayed gastric emptying, increased risks for regurgitation and higher episodes of pulmonary aspiration, which can be fatal. For these reasons, it is recommended that people getting elective surgeries (not emergency surgeries) talk with their providers about stopping their GLP-1 agonists prior to undergoing these elective surgeries. Great video as usual 😃!

Great video ! I am coaching people to loose weight (without med) and few of them asked me about it. I live in Israel and since 2 years this med has a huge success. I know few people who took it and got back the weight after 3 months when they stopped. So they started to take it again… then their body rejected it completely. It made them so sick that they could not take it anymore. Thank you very much for your explanations about the mechanisms. Now I will have a scientific base to tell my customers why I never used it in my program. It’s one thing to be logical and faithful to good ethic but it’s even better when you can have science to back you up! Very useful video. I am taking the opportunity to thank you for transferring me passion of how works our body and metabolism. And It also saved me ! You gave me knowledge to create my own program to loose weight and to get back my ability of short term memory which became very blair and I felt I was starting to really decline. I went from starting to forget to turn off the light of the bathroom from time to time, to never turn it off anymore, ever ! Now my short term memory is back to normal, specially after one fasting of 6 days which I did with slow long cooked fresh curcuma in water with black pepper, English pepper and ginger and a bit pink salt. I drank it warm during 6 days. It was the 3rd time I did fasting but this one made all the difference : the first day when we start to eat again, instead of eating vegetables like it’s recommended, I was craving for meat! So the first 2 days I eat good tasty assado and entrecote (grass eaters from Argentina) full of good tasty fat, and I really felt a huge boost if my short term memory, since then I am turning off all lights! And I felt rebuilt ! I am sure that according to what is our goal we are trying to achieve through fasting, we can adjust the first food we eat when we break the fast. I am also a health journalist for a French magazine, so It also improved my concentration back to normal. I was having hard time to write 3 lines… and now, I can write for 1 hour very easy, it all come to my mind the way it should be written. The meat made an enormous difference. The 2 other same fasting I did before, I broke it with vegetables the first day, a bit fruits the second day… like it is usually recommended but it was no improvement on my brain. If you would like to explore this way, please contact me. English is not my mother tongue, so I apologise by advance for any mistakes.

I eat less, have dropped almost all of my medications and those issues with pain, autoimmune, brain fog, etc are so much better. I also get sick less frequently. I just got off of a cruise and have been so happy that some of my metabolic flexibility has returned. I skipped breakfast on the cruise but then ate to satiety. Other than some headaches I didn’t have ill effects or gain weight. I am back on your plan now than I am home and will continue to make progress as next I will start to work on your body course. Thank you for breaking this down!

This was a very timely lecture for me. I have followed your healthy lifestyle advice for a little over two years. I decreased my weight from 205 lbs. to my current 189 lbs. My A1-C. is now 4.6 - I am off insulin and am managing my T-2 Diabetes with your reccomendation of intermittent fasting and restricted carb, healthy whole food eating. Still... I was wondering if I could reach my utlimate weight goals quicker if I used this drug for a short time. You answered my concerns and stilled my wondering regarding this quick fix perscription med alternative. I will carry on with your healthy lifestyle guidance 😊. I accomplished life altering benefits by ditching processed foods, excessive sugar consumption, doing regular exercise and taking time daily to manage debilitating anxiety. Thank you for dedicated work Dr. E. It is improving and saving lives.

Thanks Dr. Ekberg 🌹 Everytime I see a new video about Ozempic and I have share this. Ozempic gave a dear loved one of mine severe anxiety THEY DIDN'T HAVE BEFORE TAKING OZEMPIC! They stopped it and it almost completely went away but there are still lingering affects. Beware of the side effects! Nothing can replace the proper human diet.

I love the med! I lost 30 with low carb changed my lifestyle and I know that could lose the next 40 lbs on my own, but I still decided to do this med after so much success on my own. no side effects. Regarding rebound it’s statistically the same as rebound as diet.. which is exactly why if you do the med, you have to REALLY change your relationship with food, just like diet becomes your way of life.

I've been following Dr. Ekberg's teachings for over 2 years now. I do have some "side effects" though. I'm on zero meds, maintaining my optimal weight, and feel the best in my life. Just to name a few. Our society wants quick and easy fixes and looks at big pharma for results. I can't imagine being on this drug. Why live if you're going to be miserable. So sad.

I've quit telling people how I've fixed my weight issues, or even discussing fasting because most people immediately insist it's all dangerous. My own husband was shocked to find out I've been doing OMAD twice a week all summer
