Would they ever take away all movies from an author with the MUBI daily rotation system? Meaning, if I were to sign up today, would there be a chance for all Spike Lee movies to not be available?
I love how he portrays African Americans. He always portrays them as they really are not as Hollywood tends to

A top 5 film director in my book. Spike always directs beautiful films. I think what puts some of his films down are the screenplay and the actors within the films. He doesn’t get it right but his direction is so beautiful, it’s out of this world.

Another great video! Do The Right Thing and Malcom X are masterpieces, and I'm happy to add a few more Spike Lee joints to my watch list
Top 10 joints: 1. Do the Right Thing 2. Malcolm X 3. 25th Hour 4. Clockers 5. Jungle Fever 6. Blackkklansman 7. She's Gotta Have It 8. 4 Little Girls 9. Inside Man 10. Summer of Sam
Lees movies have the most unique dialogue in my opinion
Great video. All the things I love about his films but didn't know how to phrase it. Good job.
As a Spike Lee fan, I really appreciate this video!
I'd also add to the list the use of repetition, a shot of an action followed directly by the same action, shot from a slightly different angle. "Do the Right Thing", "Malcolm X", "25th Hour" and "Red Hook" come to mind in this regard.
I’m so glad people are finally recognizing what a lot of us knew when we first saw Do The Right Thing.
3:20 Lee's been reading up on Lysistrata by Aristophanes! Fun ancient comedy. I think he put that in there to show how educated he, a black man, is.

I Do Monologues moreover... most high school students learn about Lysistrata WELL before many of them even take the fucking SAT’s.... I’m sure Spike has known about the nuance of the comedy well before you were even born....
Well done.
14 is Spike Lee's biggest weakness as a filmmaker. Most would weave the themes into the story (which Spike Lee is very good at anyway) and it just kills the pacing and flow of the story when Spike Lee pauses the story to preach at the audience. The funeral scene in "Chi-Raq" is a particularly gratuitous example down to a literal preacher.
Hello ScreenPrism. I am a fan of your page. I appreciate how deep you go in analyzing brilliant films and tv shows alike. Thank you so much for creating this page. I have a request. May you do a film analysis on The Devil’s Advocate starring Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves? I would love to see a movie character analysis on Kevin Lomax, John Milton, and Mary Ann.
Excellent Video Breakdown. My Favorite Director. I Hope to Someday Act in one of his Projects.
Omg I haven’t seen Chi-Raq yet but so cool that it’s based off of Lysistrata. Man he’s so brilliant
I went to college with Zelda Harris, the actress who starred in "Crooklyn" and had a supporting role in "He Got Game." Just as cool in real life as she was on screen.🙂 As a journalist, I also got to cover Spike's visit to the Montreal Black Film Festival in 2018 and asked him a question about Black business ownership in the movie industry. His answer was *superb:* Let artists (like him) do their art, and let Black folks who actually specialize in business handle the business end of things. Couldn't have said it better my damn self 😏

The Malcolm X biopic is his most ambitious and 'important' project, with an alltime great performance by Denzel. Do The Right Thing is the best of his features that I've seen. Mo Better Blues is my personal favourite. Bamboozled is one that isn't mentioned too often, which is another good one. Inside Man is a classy genre film. In the last two decades his best work has been as a documentary film maker.

First salute to Spike one of the best American filmmakers in the last 50 years Malcolm X was awesomely filmed! The irony for me is, people were trying desperately to leave Spike Lees Brooklyn to come live in my borough of Queens and fast forward 30 years later I can’t stomach neither Spikes Brooklyn nor the $10 craft beer 3k a month rent paying organic millennial Brooklyn but one of these Brooklyn’s won’t shoot you dead in the street for no apparent reason, that’s one part of the romanticized version of 70’’s, 80’s & 90’s BK that Spike propagandistically leaves out. ( Excluding Clockers)Like I said I was there.
Liked and shared. Great video
"She's Gotta Have it" makes "Plan 9 From Outerspace" look like "Citizen Kane."

You girls rock.
Crooklyn and Malcolm X are my favorite Spike Lee film. Crooklyn is such a good movie that I rewatch it all the time. That’s one of my favorite childhood films. ❤️
The one thing about his movies dialogue is nobody talks about race in their normal lives in normal life. I like his charismatic characters but what they say about race is often over the top.
