There are times, especially when discussing social issues, where Spike Lee can become adversarial, to the point where he comes off as aggressive, but he always speaks constructively and intelligently. I just think some folks have a hard time with the passion he can inject in his dialog, and that has given him a reputation of being stern and maybe unapproachable. But Lee's the kind of guy that if you ever bumped into him on the streets of NY, he'd acknowledge you and maybe even have a chat if he had time. He's an amazing human being, and an unbelievable contributor to the film industry. I only wish he made more movies.

@@gibskeinspass3743 Which ending? The point where it should have ended or the extra one sided out of context BS they piled in afterwards? Blackkklansman was a great movie pretty much ruined by forcing a singular point of view down the throats of the audience through its opening and closing scenes. The actual film does a good job of showing how pointless blind hate and the inability to compromise can be, and how such attitudes aren't just on one side of the fence. The ending scene illustrates this, where the female lead tells the male lead that she can't be with him because he is a cop (and therefore bad), despite him doing far more for the cause she proclaims to stand for than she did. This film shows the reality that people of the same mindset exist on both sides, and the problem isn't simply white racism and intolerance, but also intolerance and hate on the part of black people as well. That message is completely undermined and ruined by those first and last scenes of the film where the focus is entirely on white racism and nothing else. The ending may be powerful, but the message is both forced and bad one.
