I'm barely a hobby breeder and my rule has always been - if I can't keep it as a pet, I'm not breeding it.

the fact that Petcos where I live have tons of fairly fancy, fairly well-bred cresteds in stock all of the time should tell aspiring breeders everything they need to know about the state of the market

I do appreciate your reality check reminders of the "dangers" of starting to breed your own geckos. The real question is " Am I wise enough to listen?" XD

I tried breeding gargoyle geckos but I didn’t like them as much as chahouas so that’s what I’m trying to breed now. For right now just one pair but hopefully I can get some babies from them next year

I'm definitely digging the new crib. It makes for a much nicer background compared to the old place

I agree also in the next couple of months we will have around 20 new set ups to build for all our Tokays and adult cresteds. Definitely going to look alot nicer as well!

I have one pair and like to breed them once a year or once every other year because its fun to have one or two little baby cresties over the summer and then sell them, and one or two really isn't that overwhelming, so I wouldn't breed them more than once because I don't want it to be a chore, just a fun little summer experience. I do the same with my leopard gecko pair.

I’m starting a little gargoyle breeding project but just as a hobby. I only have one pair and I intend to pair them once or twice a year. I’m just fascinated by the process. Fortunately, I have a reptile store near me who will buy the babies from me (at wholesale price but whatever)

I think an another important point is you shouldn't generalize and should focus on specific morphs and traits make the best version of that start small then grow organically.

Yep it amazes how many breed crested geckos and then have a hard time selling them. I love my onw cresty but thats all i ever want

I bred Cresties for the first time this year. The first clutch came 10 days early 1 pipped and poked it's head out but the other one died in the egg. Holding this fully formed baby in my hand was really hard. Then a couple eggs went bad and I managed to stem the damage and the egg seemed ok the egg hatched but the baby died the next day. I have 3 babys the 1st one survived and it's growing like a champ and doing really well, I have 2 that are looking good so I'm hoping they will be good and the last 2 eggs will hatch. There are a lot of ups and downs but this is a bucket list thing for me so I'm super passionate to make this work and bring my baby's up and help some people get great pets

Hey what's your opinion on cohab crested geckos? If the enclosure has multiple food and uvb stations so there's no resource conflict..like two geckos

I've been doing group pairings for a few cresteds and haven't had any issues. What I will say is there is no benefit for the animal by co habing them. Only benefit for the keeper.

I know of someone who suddenly took it over. hi think it was so much fun to produce eggs and hatch them. So there he sat - with many geckos and a few snakes in addition. Now it's hard work. And hard to be sold here. Use heart. What you say is very good. Sorry for my bad English. Hope you understand me.

Besides the buisness side of breeding could we get a breeding care guide, female care etc have yet to find a decent answers

All my breeding projects are biased off can I sustain it ten years down the line. Honestly crested geckos are just not my thing but tokays on the other hand I feel a spiritual bond with the attitude is everything I aspire to be when I am old. I want to be that cranky old lady who doesn’t take anyone’s shit.

See at-least with feeder insects it’s interesting lol and you get the room crickets from the ones that find a way to escape and give you night music lol

#6 You're not a crested gecko breeder. Sadly, this is where my crestie came from. Friend's sister bred her pet quality geckos and now I have a baby pet quality gecko.

Thank you! All things people should be aware of when trying to move to the next level. Sorry I’ve been a pos! I’m probably a little jealous. Animals were life’s entertainment/companionship before video killed the radio star. It’s about the animals! Sorry again brother!

There are a lot of toxic behaviors going on out there. To keep up with the "game" many breeders justify mistreatment of animals by cutting corners to save costs. People who advocate good pet keeping immediately get attacked by the "community". I'd rather enjoy my animals than play that sort of game.😅
