Additional note Forget you're playing a keyboard for a second, funky clavinet benefits from being approached like a percussion instrument. Also if you have a real one (or a really really good emulation) use the percussive sound you get from the absolute shortest staccato you can for that "going "puh puh tuh tuh" into a microphone percussion sound

Hey Mr.Zong, I don’t comment much but I jus srsly wanted to thank you. I’ve recently fell down the music theory rabbit hole and how I can apply chords in jazz, gotten thru major, minor, diminished, augmented, ect, but I only thought there was one kind of blues scale! When u mentioned specific e flat minor, I learned there are two types of blues scales (major and minor), so a whole new world jus opened up, along w the funky tune u jus provided!

there is really only one blues scale which is the minor pentatonic with the addition of a b5. while a major scale exists, people never really refer to it when talking about THEE blues scale. tbh if you just combine the notes of the major and minor scales, it's basically just every note that you can play over a standard blues form.

Is it weird that I want to see a funky little robot man sing with this instrument as his voice? A funky, clunky, kind of chunky, little fella? I imagine him short a little taller than my knee height barely, with a red visor for eyes and and one of those sound wave things for a mouth. Hed have a square body with no edges, and those tube arms robots often have. Three fingers and two toes. Little dude would sing a funky tune.

You know, that amazing riff in House Party from Funky Friends is one of my favorite things I’ve ever heard in my life and it’s basically this. And I nearly know the riff by heart, and I know there’s more notes in play (feels like everything except E and B can have a place, especially G) and I tried this and I still don’t get anywhere near this tasty of a groove. I def feel like there’s much more to learn fundamentally and I’m willing to learn because it’s all so cool!
