You Can Be Yourself and Express Jesus at the Same Time? | Andrew Farley
Ойын-сауық
In this illuminating journey through the first half of Colossians 3, we’ll uncover the inspiration Paul offers for renewing our minds and thinking differently.
We’ll also delve into the beautiful concept that our lives are hidden with Christ in God and celebrate the truth about our closeness to Him. And we’ll unpack what it means to “put on” the outside what’s already on the inside, reflecting what we’ve received from God to others.
I look forward to exploring these transformative truths with you as we deepen our knowledge of our new identity in Christ!
Discussion Questions for Colossians 3:
1. Read verses 1-2. What inspiration does Paul offer for thinking differently?
2. Read verses 3-4 and react to this statement: Your life is hidden with Christ in God. Christ is your life!
3. Read verses 5-8 and react to this statement: Don’t walk like them because you are not them.
4. How do verses 9-10 demonstrate (via past tense) that we believers can now “be ourselves”? What is being “renewed”?
5. Does “chosen of God” in verse 12 support Calvinism? Why or why not?
6. Why does verse 13 appear to be the opposite of what we see in the Lord’s Prayer (if you forgive others, then God will forgive you)? How do we explain the discrepancy?
7. Read verse 14 and react to this statement: Put on love (on the outside), because love has been poured in your heart (on the inside).

amen, watched it with my fiance. thank you.
Great message. However, we all need to get over Easter. It's a pagan holiday. Explore the Passover which will help you understand the details and deep meaning of the resurrection.

The Passover is fulfilled and complete in Christ. It was the shadow and now we have the reality. The shadow tells us nothing more. Now we celebrate resurrection Sunday. Forget Passover. What bride celebrates her engagement after her marriage. No she celebrates her wedding and forgets her engagement.

@@kickpublishing first off I hope you understood my reply regarding Easter/Ishtar which is pagan in origin and offers a way to deflect and distract from Jesus and the resurrection. That is the important point. The Passover has been overlooked but it offers a great reflection of past and future. Jesus has not returned yet, and is still the coming Messiah for those in waiting. Celebrating, learning and participating in God's feast days is not mandated. However, you can grow in your relationship with God by making the connections. Also, you should study engagement versus marriage as it relates to Jesus, the new covenant, and his return. Remember he said in Matthew 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom......learning about the culture and customs will explain why he's waiting.

Interesting. Wasn't aware that one celebrating the resurrection of Jesus was a "pagan" practice. Umm...Yer kidding, right? Here: Soup-On-A-Stick? (That doesn't make any sense either.) It's sad how many twist Scripture to say that certain celebratory days have "pagan roots". Here's a hippocrite for ya: They'll say stuff like that yet it's pretty much a no-brainer that same person goes throughout a given year HUNDREDS of times referencing calendars and/or wondering about anything past the earth's atmpsohere. The reality is all months except two and all days of the week and quite a few celestial bodies are all named after mythological characters. Mythology is pagan. Meanwhile, however...Forever's a long time. Ready? Hope so! That 1-on-1 with God the Father happens with 100% of everyone whether it's "believed that way or not". This is the A.D. Era now. The bottom line lies the hope people ABSOLUTELY DO NOT "get over Easter". No way.
“Churchianity”. Yup.

LOL! That's fancy talk for "legalism". Emphatic "NO THANK YOU". Will CHEERFULLY stick with the instruction in Scripture instead. In this particular instance, the encouragement would be to study passages such as John 5:24, Ephesians 4:32, Hebrews 10:14, 1 John 1 8-10, etc., etc. There are no contradictions in Scripture...EVER. Forever's a long time. Hope everyone's ready!
