His Commandments (“Believe” and “Love”) Are Not Burdensome! | Andrew Farley

Forever in His Presence - Part 7
A believer’s unbroken fellowship with God is at the core of our “Forever in His Presence” series. In this message, we explore the simplicity of salvation to see that it is heartfelt belief, not “magic words” or perfect behavior, that brings us into a saving relationship with God.
We also reflect on God’s incredible love for us, which sets us free from fear and gives us confidence for Judgment Day. Contrary to what the religious world might say, knowing the depths of His love also means we can stop trying to love Him more!
Furthermore, understanding that “we love because He first loved us” helps us see that loving God and loving others are naturally intertwined.
I encourage you to listen to this message and be inspired by the permanent presence of God’s love and grace in your life!
Discussion Questions:
1. Read verse 15. How hard is it to be saved? What’s required exactly? Did you think this involves just saying some “magic words” or something more? If so, what?
2. Read verse 16 and react to this statement: I believe the love which God has for me!
3. Read verse 17. What are the two reasons we can be confident on Judgment Day?
4. Read verse 18 and react to this statement: I will never be punished for any of my sins!
5. Read verse 19. Explain why getting this divine order of things right is so important.
6. Read 1 John 4:20-5:1. Why do loving God and loving others go hand in hand?
7. Read verses 2-3 of chapter 5. What are His commandments? (Note: Consider 1 John 3:23 in your answer.) Also, why are His commandments “not burdensome”? And how are these any different from being under the Old Testament law?
8. What does it mean that we now “overcome the world”?

Thank you, Andrew! You are a blessing to the body of Christ. SADLY, most of Christ’s followers don’t believe the grace message, but I understand because I just started learning from you this year. 2024…The Lord led me to you and instructed me to immerse myself in your teaching until I get it in my thick graceless skull. It is so hard to absorb after being conditioned by the graceless pervasive view spout by most churches. I have to remind myself on a daily basis that I am loved and accepted, warts and all. I love you my brother and looking forward to thanking you directly when I see you either here or there😂. Keep on doing what you’re doing ‘SAMMY.’ (Andrew)…and by the way, I like the interspersing of humor.

Worshipping God is not a one day event nor numbering hours, but every second, as a living sacrifice, in spirit and in the truth living by faith giving thanks for faith is pleasing to God, and anything not of faith is sin.

Christ being in us indeed is not a feeling nor is Christ in statues but having the testimony of the Holy Spirit regarding the water, i.e. Christ's word, and the blood, i.e. Christ's sacrifice. Please see 1 John 5. It is the treasure in our earthen vessels. Indeed, without Christ, we are nothing but broken vessel at that.

The closest view to correct Christianity is grace and so Amen Andrew. BUT there is a reason we see believers being cast into darkness. Five of the ten virgins, all of them virgins, all believers, all on their way to the marriage feast. Half didn’t make it. Yashua said not all that say Lord, Lord enter. They do believe, so much so that they argue with Him? They did great works in His name and were cast out. How can a person know they are saved? We know by knowing Him.(to be clear not of Him ...not about Him) We know HIM. We don’t believe unto salvation, because we’ve heard an argument that’s convincing. We start there, but faith, the gift we must receive from God, is what many don’t have. What the five virgins lacked and those doing great works. Doing great things in His name is fine if He’s walking with you. The question should be how can that happen? If the church is the light of the world, it should be telling people how not to be left in darkness. What I am writing is not for an atheist it’s for believers. Paul lays it out in Romans 10 from 13 to 17. He talks about salvation, believing and faith. Starting at salvation and then stepping back, he asks how, in order that he might give the reader the answer. You must call, and he instructs the church on the how of that call. That first the one that calls must believe. For that to happen they have to hear of God from one that was sent. That one has to have heard God speak. If not, how could they have been sent? They are not one that knows of, or about God, they know Him personally; as all Christians must. At this point the one to call has heard of God, believes and so will call. Now Paul gets to Romans 10:17 and faith. So then faith comes…..this is the encounter. This is when a Christian becomes a Christian, where they are changed, where they receive the gift of faith they must have for salvation. This is how they know they have called, because God answers them. In this passage Paul uses the Greek term ῥήματος (rhēmatos). Note it in the text; ἄρα ἡ πίστις ἐξ ἀκοῆς, ἡ δὲ ἀκοὴ διὰ (ῥήματος) Χριστοῦ. The passage is translated so then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. which many understand to be scripture? But ῥήματος (rhēmatos) the term Paul used is always referencing a conversation, spoken words. Paul is telling the church we have faith because we encounter God. Its not believing in fairy tails, not wishful thinking; we trust God because we know Him. Yes, its by grace, and its all Him, but we have to want Him in our lives enough to call out to Him in such a real way that He responds to us. It's pointless to talk of someone, whom you know much about by virtue of an auto biography, as being a loved one? This is the formula if you will to new birth. We hear to believe, we believe to call, we call to encounter, and in that know God. We know God to have faith, by which Grace is effective unto salvation. This is all possible because Yashua through the cross opened the way for us to come to the throne of God, and we come to CALL. THIS IS THE GOOD NEWS. That a way is open for all to call. So, believer if you have, and God has answered, then you're a Christian; if not, what are you waiting for?

Love is not exclusive to fellowship but includes non believers and even to our enemies. And love shows compassion, with even Jonah being taught compassion by God to those who are perishing not only in words, but gave his Beloved Son Christ Jesus, as a sacrifice, died on the cross and ressurected for the forgiveness of sins through faith. Love is not prideful but being humble, just as Elijah was prideful claiming three times before God he was the only one left. Love is forebearance when God was patient with Elijah to confess his pride. Love means to humble and discipline just as Elijah was replaced by Elisha, was retired, and transported on a chariot of fire to an isolated place on earth to die for everyone will die, both the godly and unrighteous.
