I Don't Feel Anything! | Andrew Farley

Ойын-сауық

Often in the Christian life we go through periods of time in which we don’t feel much. We might feel numb. We might even feel negative about spiritual matters.
Some have stories of how they once felt so close to God and then slowly those feelings began to fade. Others never felt much to begin with compared to the experiences of those around them.
In this message titled “I Don’t Feel Anything!” I talk about the healthy way forward when we don’t feel the way that we think we should.
I hope this message is an encouragement to you!

I cannot express how freeing that Dr. Farley's messages are. Came across him on You tube and started listening a couple of months ago and I know that it was no accident or coincidence...it was The Holy Spirit that led me to listen and every time that I do, I get more free in my understanding and relationship with my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

I’m actually so fried in my brain of being scared of not being saved I’m just gonna start believing it. I feel like God let me ware myself out with it so I would get to this point. It’s like literally throwing in the towel and being like “alright you win, i believe you that I’m saved”. Lower your expectations. Not that God can’t do something but that your just 1 in 7 billion currently alive. He’s been doing this for a long time. Relax and God bless.

Swift Action yes actually. So it took a long time. This fear is actually bringing you very close to Him. It was like that for about 9 months for me. One day you wake up and realize He will never leave or forsake you. It’s a trust issue. Your worried because you care a lot, unsaved do not care.

Swift Action lol something I learned, so this is a personal relationship, your relationship with God will be different than someone else’s, just like a relationship with a person. Do not compare. I eventually came to the conclusions from reading, praying, and time what our relationship was. It’s ok to not be like the singing happy jumping around people at church. This is a very real relationship, one day your gonna look back and see He was there the entire time. Pray daily and read daily. It eventually sticks.

i believe that our emotions, will, thougts, actions, and words are built on who and what we believe. It may not always line up but thier should be a change starting with faith in Jesus. I believe that Jesus wants us to know that where forgiven, rightous, saved and loved. As we know that God has given us eternal life we should come to a rest and stop working for our salvation.

Jesus was troubled in his spirit, wept, marveled, had compassion, was angry at the Pharisees. The Spirit moves us. Righteousness peace & joy are the kingdom of God & when we see the kingdom of God working we experience positive emotions & when we see the kingdom of God being neglected or attacked we experience indignation & sorrow. Jesus was a man of many sorrows. The righteous experience deeper & more real emotions than the unrighteousness who are dead, hearts of stone. Godly sorrow leads to repentance. The wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. We defend the weak as does God. He gives grace to the humble. The poor in spirit have the gospel preached to them. We clothe ourselves in humility & compassion loving one another & forgiving as God in Christ forgave us. Rejoice with those who rejoice. Mourn with those who mourn. “For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.” - Philippians 3:18

@@amygoff4127 I recently went through something very similar. I felt close to God, and then one day, a horrible thought ran through my mind. I thought, "How in the world could I think a thought THAT offensive to God?" I literally spent much of my time on my knees, begging God for forgiveness. I wanted, more than anything else, to "feel" His forgiveness. I would literally go on 3-5 hours of sleep per night until I would just collapse one day and sleep for about 12 hours. Then I would feel bad because I felt that I had to beg God for forgiveness. The more I did this, the worse the thoughts got. I clung to passages such as the one in 1 John that says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." This went on for about a month, and during that time, I sought answers about the nature of intrusive thoughts. To make a long story short, I eventually started talking to some people about it, and they prayed with me. Over time, I began to realize what Andrew pointed out in this video. Our faith is bases on certain facts. If these things are true, you can be certain that our faith is true: 1.) God exists. 2.) Mankind has sinned. 3.) Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died and rose bodily 3 days later. The case for these three truths is incredibly powerful, and I cannot help but believe that all of these are true. Our faith is in fact, not feeling, and this means that if the above 3 things are true, Christianity is true, and if Christianity is true, then we can trust in God to keep His promises.

Amy, we cannot *FEEL* God all the time in this corrupted, fallen flesh. We're Born of His Holy Spirit in our Heart, yes, but this flesh is separated from Him, and feelings are a big part of the fallen flesh. The flesh dulls our senses a lot. We must therefore have *FAITH* in Him, and confidence in His mercy, grace and understanding. You must proclaim the Love of Jesus on you, not lose faith in thinking He has left you. The enemy (satan) and his minions are the accusers of the Children and want you to doubt your Salvation. Jesus is *NOT* mad at you. You're Born of His Seed, thus you *CANNOT* be lost ever again. Proclaim that Jesus is with you still, and shall never leave you nor forsake you. *PROCLAIM* that Jesus is with you! Don't _think_ it. *PROCLAIM* it with confidence. It's true, that's why, not just a theory. It's fact. You must push through and continue to do so. :) The enemy wants you to lose faith and hurt because the enemy knows your hurt is what hurts Jesus the most. So be confident in *KNOWING* Jesus is with you always, if not for anything else, to prevent Jesus from hurting that much more when His precious child is hurt and worried.

I fell into a deep spiritual depression. I would cry every day. So much that my eyes would swell. I would sleep so much more so I don’t feel the burden in my heart. I could not say one prayer without crying to the father. It was a boomerang. Depression came back again and again ..and again. It was hard for me to read my bible and give thanks without crying which made my heart all the more heavy. I just started reading my bible and giving thanks and worshipping for a couple of days and trying to get myself together. I’m reading and worshipping, but along the line it was a MESS. I felt like I was going through the motions. I didn’t feel the heavenly godly happiness like I wanted and I used to. And it hurts and I want to feel the fathers love, I want him to remind me who I am to him and who he is to me. Please pray that I may brothers and sisters in Christ 😢 I’m 14, God bless you and may you receive deliverance from your problems❤️

I get it now Mr.Farley.It's not personal testimony we put our faith in,we put our faith in what Jesus Christ did.I wasn't led to Christ personally by someone else's testimony and witness,I kind of stumbled upon Christianity one night in my living room when I found an orange colored book of Bible stories just sitting on the floor. It was around December of 1992 when I was still living with my Mom in Leominster,Massachusetts,I had graduated from High School that year, about to turn 19 on Christmas Eve.Well,it was a Friday night I was home watching tv but then picked up the book and the title was called from Paradise Lost to Paradise regained. Now,I want to make a disclaimer because the publisher was unfortunately Watchtower, which at the time I didn't know much about their beliefs about Jesus Christ, particularly their denial about Him being God.But I was fascinated by the comic book like drawings and the paragraph summaries at the bottom of the page, which introduced me to truths about sin,how death came about, and that Jesus Christ would come back someday and establish a New Kingdom.Well,I'll just say before that night I never knew that we could live again,I never knew Jesus Christ personally even though I've heard well about him,I had no Christian background whatsoever at that point in my life. But Andrew,I'll just say that I read in that book about Jesus Christ dying on the Cross(I KNOW THE JWs SADLY CALL IT A TORTURE STAKE) next to an evildoer or the thief on the Cross and the thief asked Jesus Christ "Remember me when You get into Your Kingdom ."Then Jesus answered Him while on the Cross,"Verily, verily I say to you, today you shall be with me in Paradise."Well, after reading that,I felt hope and awe over Jesus. He's offering Paradise to this thief right there dying next to Him on that cross, just like that. And the thief just said,"Remember me.Well,I just ran with that and closed the book and for the first time in my life Andrew,at 19 years of age,I called on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and asked Him to come into my life and offer me a place in His Coming Kingdom,in the privacy of my bedroom in Leominster,Massachusetts December 1992.I'll conclude,Andrew, that I to went off Navy bootcamp and did my time.In June of 1993 I got stationed in Jacksonville,Fl with a VS Squadron,NAS Cecil Field.During that span of time I got early exposure to false teachings like baptismal regeneration, speaking in tongues to be saved, and stuff like that.I learned that Jesus Christ was God when a chaplain's assistant showed me the Scripture JOHN 1:1 and it was as plain as day.Eventually,God led me to a church via a barracks roomate named Travis, who had a car and invited me to a service with Him.It was called Trinity Baptist Church,a fundamental, indepebdent Baptist Church that was close to our base. After the services was over,I accepted the alter call invitation and made my first profession of faith, knowing full well I didn't need to get baptized to be saved nor speak in tongues, just believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did, nothing more. Then I followed the Lord in believer's baptism. This was around the spring of 1994 during The Shrimp Festival in nearby Ferdnadina Beach, where my roomate Travis and I bonded that Saturday before, with a church teacher named Dan.He threw a mean BBQ.I know I shared a lot,Andrew, but that is my testimony. But to this day I rest in what Jesus Christ did for me,not what I do for Him.And I do believe in the Trinity, eternal security based upon the fact that we are sealed by the Holy Spirit, and salvation alone in Jesus Christ alone by grace alone through faith alone.Anyway, thanks for your ministry,I always feel more encouraged.

@@leecrotty6344 I began my search for the Kingdom of God and His righteousness in May of 1972. What I have found in this walk with God is that new believers usually do experience the "closeness" of God and then He will reduce or eliminate the feeling of His presence to grow that young believer into one who will walk by faith rather than feelings. That is His intent, we must walk by faith; we must not only believe but KNOW He is with us in spite of how we feel. We are human and while we are growing in Him we will be challenged to doubt and disbelieve all His promises. Now, I said Lee, that I get a great feeling of His presence when I worship and praise Him and sometimes even when I encounter another believer. There is NO risk there....because of my years (now 50) with Him and my close relationship with Him the enemy stays away from us.

What a great principle to apply in the sphere of healing also! The same principle can be applied in relation to your sickness. I am not healed because I feel like it! I am healed because of the fact of the spiritual reality already established about my new identity in Christ Jesus! I have a body, but I’m not the body. I’m one spirit with the Lord. The body must be subject to the reality of indestructible life and immortality which are mine in Christ trough the Gospel! I’m calling you healed not because you feel like that, but because such you are in Christ Jesus! Not based on your story, but based on Christ stripes and sufferings! Healing is to exercise and mirror the life and the identity of this new spiritual man in every sphere of your soul and body.

What about the fruits of the Spirit? As you all know love, joy, peace are just some these fruits so wouldn't you think that there is some feeling associated with these fruits?

Feel nothing is good sigh, dead people don't feel anything. It is no longer I who do it,because I am crucified with Christ, I'm dead and my life is hid with Christ in God.

So. If it's once for all, why even try to do anything right? Why try to dress right, act, talk, walk etc.. What are we commanded to do as Christians? What if we don't do it?. I mean let's say we are going down a road that's gonna hurt us. Won't God still punish us ( not because it's sin) but as chastisrment to better our lives and keep us from acting stupid just because he loves us

Brian Cope my understanding is, when we christians stumble and fall short occasionally, we must confess and repent, get right back on track. Walk in the light again. Without holiness nobody see God. the branch cannot remain abiding in the vine if the branch is rebellious and remain disobedient and unrepentant. such branch bear no fruit and will be cut off. there is kindness and strictness of God

My question is. If we are free from sin. Once we are washed, sins never to be remembered , eternally saved. When my righteousness is as filthy rags, every day breaking one of the hundreds of demands in the bible , with no way to be 100% pure daily.. then we MUST believe that when Christ said " it is finished" then that's the final authority. Because what sin didn't put Christ to death? So we're all murderers..... Daily... I believe all our sins had to be dealt with at the cross and resurrection.. But..does God still chastise us because he loves us and not for punishment or compensation, but to keep us from hurting ourselves. Just as we correct our own children..??

BC if you are driving on a logging road and a boulder slides down a hill in front of you blocking that side of the road , at this point you may ram it or turn a bit and get around it. That is what I think God does on occasion , not some punishment but more of a redirection. Redirection may or may not be an easy task.and sometimes we tend to ram it before realizing there might be a another way .

B C, "trying" will get you no where concerning salvation. Jesus performed the perfect work Himself, and no one needs to "try" to add to it. Just *being* with the Lord and seeing Him as He is (fruits of the Holy Spirit) and inspired by His Person will change you and things will happen "naturally" with a flow, not a "try". I was sitting at the computer about 20 years ago and felt this pride inside for some reason, out of no where. I did not like the feeling, so I prayed "Lord, kill my pride?" - no answer. I was just asking, not expecting any answer. About 15 mins. later, the feeling came back again, so I prayed again: "Lord, kill my pride?!" - no answer again. About 15 mins. after that, the feeling of pride came back and so I was fed up, "Lord, PLEASE kill my pride?!" and He actually answered me, saying: "I can't. It's already dead. I Am Living My Life through you." :) So we can have feelings this or that, but our sin is dead in Reality, even if it seems we "feel" it or feel that. His knowledge is beyond what we can comprehend, so having faith and *comfort* in Him is key. :) God will never punish His Children, and that's a fact. All punishment was put on Himself on the cross, and we (Children of God) are crucified with Christ so "It is finished" ans has been the day you were Born Again of His Spirit. Discipline and teaching + molding? Sure, yes, but punishment is wrath for evil and we, who are Born again, are beyond wrath of God. Once saved, eternally saved. There is now NO condemnation for those in Jesus -> Born again. We don't *want* to "act stupid" just because He loves us. We *want* to do the right thing in our heart, but sin still in 'us' (the flesh) as Paul says, it's still dead to God, as He killed it (on the cross) and is no where in His sight now to hold against us. Though our sin was as scarlet (before accepting Jesus into our heart), it is now white as snow for those Born of Gods Spirit.

We shouldn't *try* anything. We *let* Jesus inspire us to do what He wants us to do.
