Great looking Wakizashi, man. I got myself a T10 tool steel katana for only $157. You are exactly right and I also mention this in my video - most modern steels are WAY superior to the traditional medieval tamahagane steel. Too bad katana cultists can't get this through their head.

Well made tamahagane katana could put 10 cm hole in steel helmet without rolling chipping or scratching. You have documentary about that. Btw traditional katana have good balans and geometry since they are forged and not grinded. I don't see how tamahagane(high carbon) blade with superior geometry is worse than some trash modern blade with bad balance and fittings that are made from crap and not right size.

Yep its clay tempered , but i doubt very much its t10 for $100 i can see you hurting yourself with that , you cant tell its tool steel unless you you get it rockwell tested , t10 is reserved for expensive blades , if it scratches during messing with it its carbon steel , tool steel doesnt scratch up

Looking at the handle wrap materials on these swords and wondering if it's possible to get a company to test out a handle wrap like on the CRKT Obake line of knives. Those knives use a kind of imitation rayskin wrap, but they're epoxied in place and more solid than a real leather wrap. If that concept works on a sword wrap it'd not only be vegan friendly but possibly stronger than traditional materials, almost never needing to be re-tightened. This would also challenge the fear that sword companies have to make "high end" stuff with non-traditional materials and not make it look like something out of a zombie movie If swords were still serious battle weapons, they'd def be made with the kind of synthetic materials used on high end sports equipment like tennis rackets, given that natural leather is vulnerable to moisture and temperature changes.

@@nolife097 you don't have to buy new stones, although it requires a bit more finesse. The bottom of ceramic mugs are about 1000 grit. I usually use a ceramic mug to touch up blades. But with a longer blade length it's not ideal. You could try and find ceramic plant pottery with a wider more flat base and use this as your abrasive stone. There's is alot of other ways including using wet sanding paper secured to a flat base and working through more finer grits.

    Is 9260 better than T10?

  • @VeganJutsu

    Жыл бұрын

Hey sorry I don't have any 9260 to compare. I will consider this steel on my next sword purchase. My favorite steel is 80crv2 and 3v, I'd say T10 is harder than 1095 and similar in strength to 5160. Of course a good heat treat is essential so I shop by forge/maker not just steel

Well maybe better than 1000 years ago but t10 isn't superior to traditional Japanese steel. T10 is only superior in being stainless. T10 is between 1095 and 440c but less chromium than 440c.

I just bought the updated 2022 version. The one from this video has great edge retention and very little damage even after all these years of chaos. Agreed tho that in modern days it's nothing special but for $100 it's very hard to compete in this value.
