Hi, good info! Do you think doing kegel exercises (regular kegels and reverse kegels) is beneficial as a complement to a routine such as this?

  • @DrMelissaOleson

Great questions! Once an individual can feel the connection with the breath and pelvic floor progressing to other movements and exercises keeping that same connection is beneficial Everyone is different, but in general it is more about learning how to use your core and pelvic floor system and manage intra-abdominal pressure. This is done with breathing and posture. The pelvic floor needs to adapt, respond, react, activate, and length to all of our daily movements. Kegels do not allow for this type of movement and if an individual already has a tension pelvic floor this contributes to more tension. The key is retraining these muscles and having them work in a system.

@@DrMelissaOleson thanks for the reply! There is very much information about just kegels and the possible benefits but I think most sources miss what you said about the importance of considering the whole system... great info =)

These exercises are great to help relax the pelvic floor muscles and bring circulation to the area. If it is because of a tight pelvic floor area these exercises could be helpful.

How to come to know that Pelvic Muscles aren't contracting/strengthening properly? I mean indication of it please kindly 🙏 answer my question 🙏

When working on pelvic floor muscles you are looking to feel a lengthening of the muscles on the inhale and on the exhale a gentle lifting. If the connection is not felt with your breath and pelvic floor then sometimes other areas need to be addressed first to help the core and pelvic floor system work optimally like hips, mid back, abs, and more.
