Mariah’s voice is full and dark, compared to someone like Ariana that doesn’t have the same voice type it sounds like one is out of the place with the other. This generation also isn’t familiar what actual house remixes from the 90s sound like. Ariana’s vocal is NOT how house remixes sound. It sounds brilliant if you actually know house remixes. The only thing that’s maybe out of place is Mariah’s harmony in the first pre chorus.

I feel that Mariah is the GOAT when it comes to house music vocals but Ari’s approach is soft and breathy, not the usual when it comes to house music…I feel like the younger generation for the most part are just not getting Mariah’s take on it 🤦‍♂️

Well I don't listen the original one. But honestly, Mariah carey literally make this song become her own song. That's my Mariah Carey

I dont understand why ppl are saying Mariah sounds robotic thats literally just her voice 😭 ppl wanna act like she cant sing anymore baby she can and did. One thing I will say though is that they should have mixed the vocals better. We all know Mariah's voice has natural power and depth, but it definitely overpowers ariana. ai was discovered like 2 seconds ago and all of a sudden, so many (younger) people seem to believe they used it for Mariah. Here’s my take on this. So many of us in our generation are used to hearing artists now mostly whisper and use surface level vocals. Think, Billie Eilish, Lana Del Ray, or even Ariana with this particular song. Mariah is a singer, she brings depth and contrast to this song, which is noted, and it plays nicely against Ariana’s voice. IMO, very few singers nowadays actually “sing” with their chest voice. Mariah actually had an entire album at one point, where all she did was basically “whisper” sing, which was her album Charmbracelet. Legit pick any song and you’ll see. There’s a reason why people always say, Mariah can sing you under the table, because of her versatility in her voice and music style. They’re both legendary, and Ari chose her for a reason other than the fact that she adores Mariah.

Beginning high note is Ari starting...then Mariah joins in and they harmonize...then it's just Mariah's iconic whistle trailing off. Iconic from both of them...and very respectful of Ari :)

For you, it doesn’t sound right because you expected it to be a soft girly voice but since day 1 Mariah’s vocals have been wide and fuller voice.

Mariah added energy to the remix, which was missing before. But let’s be honest, Mariah is not a magician. The original was mid.

why so angry ??? i did not one time in this video say or imply that mariah carey cannot sing (she’s one of the best vocalists of *all* time). i didn’t love the artistic choices she made with some of her vocals. that’s it. i also said in the video that i’m sure i’m just not getting it and that these two incredible artists clearly have better musical judgement than i would. couldn’t have been kinder

Im just intrigued that ariana fans don't do research on Ariana influences. Like i was there with ariana day 1 from her emotions cover too. That's why I looked into Mariah and how she worked with her music, and sought to find how she inspired Ariana. So I'm not even surprised with the vocals here, and love this remix. Full circle moment

Even in the Oh Santa, Ari sounded like a backup vocal when all 3 of them started singing together. Guess Ariana should have re-record her voice than just using the same track so she can catch up with Mariah. But to me, it worked out We have soft side with Ari and the belt with Mariah.
