Yes! He does show the danger but also the hope, even though he says that we, the people, always lose through our own fault, because we couldn't care less and always follow the path of least resistance... to the oligarchy. Extraordinary conference and talk. Yanis is a genius on so many levels. A wonderful man, a deep thinker and inspiring speaker and writer. Lovely book, technofeudalism, to be treasured.

Decentralised internet as it was in 1994. Each of the online companies Yanis outlines took the promise and power of the internet and exploited it.

The point is, (Absolute Singularity-point Eternity-now), existence is a probabilistic Arms Race, won by recognition of a single collective Mind-Body psyche objective.., (Thermodynamically speaking), usuing technology/technique as it is, as it exists. Good policy is never an accident.

I don't disagree with a lot of what he says. But Syriza was a bust and I don't like the way he goes about talking about this stuff as if he is some vanguard outsider who has never seen an ounce of power, not someone who got some and flubbed it.

How did he "flub" it? He didn't capitulate or betray the will of the people, tsipras did. Varoufakis literally resigned when tsipras betrayed the people and the referendum mandate they gave his government to reject IMF and ECB imposed austerity and pillaging of Greece's assets. Your characterisation that he "flubbed it" requires one to squint so hard that what's left is a complete distortion of the events of 2015. Wondering what your motivation for such an ahistorical take might be?

Suppose you are chosen as Finance Minister by a party that professes to be genuine (and turns out to be a bust as you rightly mentioned) and in need of your expertise as an economist, and then you realise that you have to go through a very difficult negotiation with an EU that is corrupt to the bone. Your two options are: You either go along with their (mathematically) guaranteed proposal for the financial destruction of your country, or you choose to resign from your position, after already having gotten a mandate from the people of your country that the last thing you need is yet another unpayable and ridiculous loan. How would you handle such a situation? I'm not an economist but from a logical point of view, his assessments seem pretty solid to me.

He does explain in another KZread how he ended up as Finance Minister in the worst economy in Europe. You can't blame the one who picks up the pieces and tries to put them back in a biased and corrupt system, which is Europe.
