Good, concise review, thanks. I should be testing the Tmax 530 DX this week, all being well, and now I'll search to see if you've reviewed that one.

That seat hump needs adjusting backwards for bigger riders. Getting very tired of cramped and uncomfortable scooters with screens seemingly made for someone less than 5ft 8. I'm 6ft 1 and haven't found one sporty scoot that is comfortable yet. I understand the issue for those shorter of leg is seat too high/ wide but why do testers always ignore comfort for the bigger rider? Might be nice to see some larger heavier testers doing reviews.

Full-length saddles prevent you from easily getting into the underseat storage if you have luggage strapped to the passenger section. Does any scooter besides the (discontinued) Majesty 400 have two helmet storage and a split seat?

It means pushing the scooter with your feet (when you're sitting normally on the scooter). But if you have short legs and the scooter is heavy, then "paddling" is impossible because you're trying to paddle a heavy bike with your toes only. It will constantly tip over :)

I am actually considering too buying myself one of these scooter's instead of the XMax 300 because of it's power and torque and also handling and I probably could definitely get one of these scooter's instead of the XMax 300 because I can definitely buy it used in Edmonton Alberta Canada and instead of buying myself one of the XMax 300 brand new and the XMax 400 has far more power and torque than the XMax 300 and it's a tad bit older so why not buy myself that bike instead of the brand new ones and I just actually love Yamaha to the core because Yamaha is exactly my all time favorite Motorcycle Company's on planet Earth

  • @glennrobinson2014

Horsepower's only a concern if you're racing. It's near-redline power, not what you get at normal speeds. At practical riding speeds torque is whatyou should be paying attention to. Torque is the low and mid RPM pull you feel when you roll on the throttle.

Does seem odd. The 400 is a big jump in weight too. The 300 is almost as quick, ways far less, costs a grand less and is far more modern, refined and economical. As you say, what’s the point of the 400? New engine please!

@Glenn Evens 249cc are small & light which means they feel like bicycles on an express highway: make you feel vulnerable; side wind keeps pushing you, big SUVs constantly overtake you, you feel the side wind from any large vehicle passing by; 249cc is not suitable for express highways because it's like bringing a knife to a gunfight

Yes, 400cc is acceptable for a scooter for highway riding. Anything lower than 400cc (such as 350, 300, 250) would be underpowered on a highway for medium to long distance trips. I live in California and the average highway (we call them freeways) speeds are 70-75 miles/hour.

It's a yeat later and you probably found out but I was told it was to do with the engine size results in a smaller tyre being used. I never got it too. More power but smaller engine. Again, just what I was told when getting my bike from dealer.

  • @EFA22000

@@richiep3520 It is because the engine takes more room. So, to keep the 2 helmets trunk capacity they had to reduce the rear wheel diameter.

Front wheel gets a bit wobbly at 70 MPH? No thanks. NC750S DCT (with fully automatic, sport and manual modes) is only a grand more - a lot faster, with very good handling (it's a motorbike) and rock solid stability at any speed (max 120 MPH).
