Yamaha TW200 | Custom Fitted LED Light Bar | Install and Test
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
3Dub200 Makes a few custom parts for the Yamaha TW200 by utilizing 3D printing. He sent me this custom light bar that mounts to the triple clamp of the TW200. I show how I wired it up using a switch in the switch cluster I installed a few videos back. I wire it into the high beam circuit so the light bar can only be on with the high beam but still has a dedicated switch that can turn it on and off. I test the wattages of everything to make sure I'm not using any more than the factory headlight bulb. I also do some brightness tests and head to the forest to test the new light bar out. I also talk about the van build and what's in store for the future. thanks for watching and I hope you found this video useful.

I've been watching your TW200 videos for about the last six months, and I have to say, that the two things I enjoy the most about them are the positive attitude and curiosity, even in the face of adversity, and the way you break down jobs on a motorcycle that make them seem doable for the uninformed (me), whether it's for a TW or for any basic bike.

@@TDubsKid Absolutely. I set a goal this year of getting my motorcycle license and figuring out what kind of bike(s) I would want to have for my own adventures. I've accomplished the first goal and you helped a lot with the second, because you show what it's really like, from the mundane, to the awful, to the amazing.

Something that will help with your light bar is use a plain hollow spacer instead of a threaded spacer. You can pinch the spacer for a tighter fit. Just add a lock-washer to keep vibrations from backing it out. I look forward to seeing more of your van build.

I have a similar headlight on mine TW and I've always been really disappointed with the high beam too. Seems like it only puts out 75% as much light as the low beam for some reason. Night time forest air is the best!

yeah it's hard to beat a cyclops bulb in the stock housing but at least this headlight was much better than the last one. indeed it is!

@TDubsKid
Жыл бұрын
Thanks!
Those spacers were kind of weird. I would probably just drilled them out and get rid of the threads and I would make sure are used Loctite. Lol. One thing that would be cool with that light would be to build a front rack and integrate that light with it, that way if you’re driving you can put a bunch of stuff on the front rack and not have to worry about covering your headlight because you still have this so other drivers could see you and you could see at night still, and with the way that bracket is it would be really easy to mount that to any kind of rag. I’d also consider putting one on back if you did a bunch of trail riding. I know in my 85 forerunner that getting out on a trail at night and having a back through trees is almost impossible, I’ve done it but I have dants from it. Lol. After the first one I put a nice big light on the back and I don’t use it often but it makes a huge difference. I can imagine being nice on a bike needing to back up and it would just be nice to have some good light behind you. Another useless piece of advice. When you use a zip tie to just get your bunch of wires together like you mentioned as you were putting it back together, if you were to use a white or red or just a different color in general in there you know which one it cut quickly next time you had to get in there and work on stuff. 🤔
@TDubsKid
Жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought about drilling out the treads, but wasn’t sure if the bolts would loosen up. Great idea, someone does make front racks for the tw would be easy to add a light bar to it. Thats a good idea for sure, I have some colored ones at work
you should flip your light bar i have the same exact one what tends to happen is in the cooling fins water gets stuck around there so i flipped mine just so the water just rolls off the cooling fins behind

How are the insects in Colorado at night? I live by the NJ Pine Barrens and any time I rode at night in the woods, the insects were too intense, but mostly when I was close to water or swampy ground. I DO commute on my Burgman scooter at night, but not through the woods and it has a windshield and lower fairings.
