Yamaha CDC-697 CD changer player - tray loading issue- Acetone will be used!

Ғылым және технология

A Yamaha CDC-697 5 disc cd player came in with the complaint that "it has a tray problem", turns out that the loading belts all had migrating grease on them from manufacture. A little acetone later and it is good as new.

Thank you for doing the Lord's work Brother! I picked up a Yamaha CDC-675 from a thrift store and was about to toss it because sometimes it would close and sometimes it wouldn't. I'm going to try the acetone fix on it this weekend.

Too much lubricate can be as detrimental as too little. Great repair!

Mr. Acetone can be a workshop technician's best friend. A simple cleanup operation; no new parts needed (not even caps) - bet that will make your customer happy.

It's AMAZING how a teeny, tiny, little bit of commonsense and a little bit of time magically makes things work like new again, isn't it! What's that old saying about "knowing where to hit it"... ;)

thanks for the video. I have a Yamaha CDC 565 that the tray will not stay closed. I power the unit on, hit Play, and the tray opens. Any ideas ?

How do you find acetone vs isoprophyl alcohol for cleaning belts/pulleys?

Thank you so much for the easy explanation. My Yamaha is a CD C765, but I suppose the mechanism is quite similar, isn't it? My problem is that sometimes it needs a little push for it to close (It makes the same noise as in your video). And recently it started doing something funny, when I try to change CDs I press the close button, it does close but it's ejected a few moments later and the CD won't start. Some other times, it closes and starts without a problem. Do you think this could help me?

I have got an old CD player that has got an issue: when I open the CD tray it does not stay open but immediately come back to the close position, what could be the cause of that malfunction?

The door open detect switch is probably oxidized. It tells the system control that the drawer is completely open.

I took it to the assistance many years ago, they fixed the issue but their fixing lasted only a few months and then the issue was back since now. I will try to fix it and I will make a video of that, but not now because we are moving and all my tools are stored.
