@@PixelPeepers Please focus in Full HD mode. And in the dark, for. The xz2 premum phone comes with Huawei Mat 20 Pro. Because Sony is in 4K mode due to digital camera shake. And impotence In central frame control, the shutter speed is 1/60 and low ISO. But in full HD. The most ISO on all mobile phones in the world in filming. The ISO 12800 combines two sensor images. But Huawei Mat 20 Pro Maximum 3200 ISO. In Hd. And, it's in 4k mode. And Sony multiplies that light. Please compare in Full HD mode and in absolute darkness.

Take it with a grain of salt because there's no pitch pack conditions in these videos which is where the xz2p camera truly shines.

Very cool video! I'd like noise reduction to be something in between the two, but between them I'd probably choose the XZ3's approach, since I prefer to have more noise and more detail than the contrary.

Usually I would make the same choice, but if you look closely on a large screen, you will see that the xz3 doesn’t really have any advantage in details. It’s just the illusion of more noise, making it seem that the photo has better details and texture, when in reality, no extra details are visible in the xz3 photo

I really expected the xz2 ultra high sensitivity mode to be better than this. But then again, it's Sony's first dual camera. Looking forward to what will happen down the track. Keep up the great work!!

Thanks for the feedback. But i am sorry to disappoint you mate, I don’t do full reviews of phones. There are much better reviewers out there than i will ever be. It’s just not my niche. I specialized on cameras, i am a photographer to the core. I know cameras don’t make the whole phone, but this is what i do. But off the record, if you ask me, the xz3 is the much better option here (camera aside)

Finally it's out! the comparison I've been waiting for so long :D Alrite, so I've watched the entire video many times to spot the "huge" differences XZ2P can offer over the XZ3. It seems like there's none. Both have similar dynamic range. In several pictures, XZ2P offers better details. But in the other XZ3 does. The noise reduction on XZ2P seems to be a little too aggressive I guess? But I don't know. I think the only part XZ2P can be superior to XZ3 is the bokeh mode. Both run on pie right? I mean both of your test devices.

@@PixelPeepers I see. I expect it to have better results with Pie update. I mean, it has monochrome sensor and stuff, but result wise... doesn't seem to be much better than XZ3. Especially in dynamic range. But I do appreciate your effort. I really do. It kinda shows that XZ3 is still a good device considering the camera and the screen.

Xz2 premium is a bit brighter exposed, but that's about it. No major differences

The Sony Xperia x Z2 Premum uses 4k shutter speeds of up to 1/60 and ISO 6400 when shooting digital cameras. And it can not control the central frame. It uses only a color sensor. Because the power of the processor is not enough to combine two sensor images in 4K mode. But in full HD mode, it uses an ISO 12800 combined with two cameras, and a black and white sensor that absorbs three times the color of the light, with a f1 / 6 diaphragm battery and a large sensor size of 1/2/3 and a large size Pixel 1/55 is combined with color sensor images. It has a shutter speed of 1/30 and absorbs multiple xz3 light in absolute darkness

First I would like to know if you've made up of the 2 smartphones, with the XMZ Premium now has Android Pie (9.0) and many cameras improvements as well as updates to XZ3! In these pictures! We can notice a little more clarity and details in the XPERIA XZ2 Premium images! But even with a lesser lens opening, the Xperia XZ3 has a realistic realization and quality impression too!

Wow what a mixed bag... Really can't pick a clear winner in my opinion. I thought XZ2 premium would easily kill XZ3 but it seems that Sony went somewhat lazy with XZ2 premium software tuning. XZ3 being able to get so close shows they've done some software tweaking with it. Which brings me to the point, will there be Xz2 vs Xz3? I think it is in order to clear out certain things. Where the Xz2 Premium truly shown was the high sensitivity low light 1080p video. Really can't pick a clear winner. What's your take PP?

Well, for low light, in my opinion xz2 premium is the clear winner. It has all the xz3 qualities (minus the slightly better dynamic range), but the photos are very clear, almost noise free. The thing is you mist watch the video on a big screen to se the noise difference

I've used both of these phones (I review for Amazon's Vine program) and ended up sticking with the XZ2P. Interestingly, your night time still photo results look a lot smoother than mine do. Mine look more like the XZ3 in terms of grain. Are you on Android Pie with the XZ2P? Anyway, love your coverage of Sony phones.

Nope, the unit i have doesn’t have pie for now (even if it was released in some regions). But i got a bunch of updates, some of them stating camera improvements. Maybe you should check for some updates. Glad to see other reviewers enjoy my work, it really means a lot!

Hmm I was thinking of the same thing, I did notice that in some of other reviews I have seen the images from Xz2 Premium don't look so smooth, as in lost resolved details in the process. So yeah could it be due to a different version of OS or camera software?

This is why it’s always important in keeping the phone up to date with software, and never review pre release software. Early stages of software are always pretty buggy and half baked

Nice Comparison, both Motion eye same great result, but dont forget the Aube Fusion of XZ2p that makes more details, less noise and when it comes to black yes its black.. Good Job, i enjoy using my Chrome Silver XZ2 Premium for about 3months. worth it if depending on persons preferences.

im satisfied with my XZ2p, because of 5.8 display compare for my previous XZp 5.5 display, design is more better before with omnibalance but for me i buy what i need, thats how it should be and i love xz2p, since they created Motion Eye Camera they got even better in low light, in day light so natural no gimmick,.. been 11 years using SE to SX

As far as I know noise is because of ISO levels on the xz3 , but I must ask will you notice this noise without zooming in that far ? If not I guess they are both very similar.

On the phone screen, noise difference is still noticeable, but not to the point it becomes a big issue. Only when enlarging the photos on a bigger display, you can see how much better the xz2 premium actually is

Hey Mate firstly I'm glad I didin't waited for xz2p n bought xz3 actually it does pretty good job, XZ2P could be better, but with updates it will improve... The most important part xz2p keeps very close to natural colors with increased night shooting wow!

Yup, they are close in all but noise reduction. Maybe with some careful editing in photoshop or lightroom, xz3 photos can be denoised and get to the level of clarity the xz2 premium delivers. And xz3 has the upper hand in dynamic range and mic quality

Fantastic comparison. XZ2P is a clear winner. I am hoping Sony implements the same dual sensor array in the XZ3P or XZ4 (who knows what's next). But I also would like to really see you test the limits of the low light. In your review, you don't have any photos using more than 10000 ISO on 2P, what can it do at 51K ISO? And can you provide a "average/normal" camera sample from another flagship phone? I have heard this thing can basically see in the dark, I'd like your take! I know, more comparisons to come, first, I understand that.

@@PixelPeepers The only reason I say use another mainstream phone is just to try and show just how dark it really is. It is difficult when watching a video to really understand what the lighting level is when the camera Jack's up to 50K ISO.

I'd like to share another camera comparison review of the XZ3 linked below kzread.info/dash/bejne/n6uku7qzh7m1l9o.html This gives a greater insight and better understanding of the xz3 camera when compared with the likes of mate 20 Pro, Google pixel 3, note 9 etc. It seems it's not as weak as many tend to show it. Specially when he talks about AI on Sony and what usually goes wrong in scene recognition which results inconsistencies in the performance. Otherwise at many occasions it actually does out perform the competition.

Fantastic! Imagine these two phones performing the multi-frame image stacking software tricks from Google 😍 And right, XZ2 Premium indeed has much better noise control, but it seems like the monochrome sensor is too soft to provide good details. I'd still say I prefer the noisier but more detailed look of the XZ3, but I'm looking forward to the updates to improve the camera software even further on the XZ2 Premium. Cheers mate!

Blowing up these photos on my 27” display, I didn’t really notice any detail advantage for the xz3. Maybe the noise gives the impression of more detail, more texture, but it is very close that I cannot name one phone better than the other when it comes to detail

I tought xz2p would be much much better but seems im wrong, yeah it is better but i got the xz3 and im very happy with it, top quality phone i love every detail and perfomance. Sony makes top true phones and nobody talks of 'em.

As a phone, the xz3 is the better buy. But as a camera, at least for low light, the xz2 premium is the better choice

No 4k or slow motion on the Xz2? is this correct? this is not 2014

Here the XZ2PREMIUM can't flex it's 12,800 1080p video ISO. It has to get *real* dark to see your money with the XZ2PREMIUM. Can't wait for the Mate 20 and Pixel 3 comparison!

1. Nope. Xz3 display is superior in every way but resolution (but you won’t notice the resolution advantage of the premium) 2. If i have the time, I gladly will do it. I have the xz2 premium on loan from sony for 3 weeks, but first i really want to do every comparison i can with this phone, against all the major players in the camera game.

you fools comenting like sheeps they have the same primary camera and capture the same light but xz2 premium advantage is that it reduces the noise in the dark and for that uses the other camera.

You forget about the aperture difference (xz2 p has f1.8, xz3 has f2), different ISP (aube vs bionz), and different processing generation. It’s not all about the main sensor

Nah mate, I disagree. The difference is night and day when it comes to noise. Maybe watch the video again on a bigger screen? Noise is hard to see on mobile screens

You should have added video in pitch black conditions which will really show what the ultra high sensitivity is for. may be you an edit this video or add a separate video showing comaprisons of XZ2P with XZ3 and other brands in pitch black conditions. otherwise we will really never know what XZ2P ultra high sensitivity is for.

I will test the xz2 premium maximum low light capabilities in ultra low light with the real low light opponents: the mate 20 pro and the pixel 3. There you will see pitch black condition is both photos and videos

Yeah, i think i will do it in a controlled studio setup, lighting situations varying from ok to no light, so i can shoot photos with every step of the Iso values, from 100 to 102400 (51200 for sony)

In most scenario photos coming out from XZ2 Premium look like XZ3's photos with heavier noise reduction applied. So XZ3 captures more details, but it also has more noise in its image, whereas XZ2 Premium is certainly better in terms of noise control as you say, details look oversoftened at the same time. What's the point of having a dedicated monochrome sensor if it makes the image quality worse? Now I'm not quite sure how it is going to compare to current kings of low light camera phones, namely Mate 20 Pro, Note 9/S9 and Pixel 3, or even iPhone XS in this regard... I've already seen one video battling iPhone's camera against XZ2 Premium's and iPhone scored clear victory in most situations, both day and night. Those guys who are making cameras on Sony phones need some serious help from their camera department, they have to improve their imaging algorithms urgently because right now great hardware is being wasted by such mediocre processing. On the other hand, I think they did a great job for fusing information from both sensors in real time to create excellent 1080p video. I hope other companies follow Sony's (and Huawei's) suit in future.

In theory, if you can reduce all the noise in the xz3 photos, you will end up with the xz2 premium photo. But you can’t do that without a massive loss in detail, i tried myself on one of the photos. So the end result, xz2 premium still is a better performer

@@PixelPeepers I wouldn't call it better, a monochrome sensor should improve the image quality in terms of noise, details and dynamic range. On my Mate 10, if I cover the monochrome lens in low light, the image quality gets noticeably worse in all 3 aspects - shadows get crushed, details become really muddy and the whole image will look a lot noisier. On XZ2 Premium, however, as far as I can see from your video, noise is handled better in ultra high sensitivity mode, but dynamic range remains unchanged and there will be noticeable hit in detail level. Probably this is happening due to the lower MP count on a monochrome sensor, 12MP vs 19MP on the main sensor, but I'm not quite sure... anyway Sony just should've utilised the monochrome sensor only when extremely high ISO (>6400) needs to be used. In lower ISO, there doesn't seem to be not much point of shooting in ultra high sensitivity mode unless you want a photo with watercolour effect, like what you get on Mate 20 Pro's Night Mode.

Speaking of the mate 20 pro, i am sort of disappointed in that camera performance. I need to test it further, but it seems to me that the p20 pro delivered better shots at night

@@PixelPeepers That's pretty interesting, because when I looked at some low light samples from P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro on GSMArena and they looked nearly identical, other than the fact that P20 Pro was applying stronger, larger-radius sharpening and had less details towards the left edge. I'm looking forward to your comparison review between Pixel 3 + Mate 20 Pro + XZ2 Premium!

Hi. Have you had any new updates on the Xperia XZ2 that improves it's cameras (selfie & rear) overall quality & performance as of this 2019? Battery life, WiFi, audio, performance & 4G signal still good? Is it worth getting the XZ3?

@@PixelPeepers I bought an Galaxy S8+ after I got pick pocketed in Milan. I'm not totally convinced with the selfie camera of the S8+. Would you still say the XZ3 (or the XZ2 as far as you can remember) selfie camera has an edge against the S8+?

Not the xz2 (its selfie camera is pretty terrible). But the xz3 selfie camera is miles ahead of the garbage s8+ selfie camera

Xz3 has power delivery fast charging, but sadly a power delivery charger doesn't come in the box.

Did you update the premium model to Android pie?

Nope, i know it was released, but my unit didn’t receive it yet. It’s still on android 8.0 with September security patch...

It's really strange that the XZ2 Premium has a cleaner and more detailed image and yet has less texture ! It looks more like Samsung now. I don't like it too much. We have to wait for your daylight comparison to draw conclusions but I'm not liking what I see here. Portrait of people would show better if the XZ2 Premium has taken the "asian phone beauty mode effect" or not. That's what I like about the XZ3, the true to life texture and details, especially for portrait, as that's what most people shoot in their everyday real life. I agree night portrait is not very representative, but may I suggest you show us a few for the daylight comparison ? That will be the decisive argument of one over another for me, and maybe others ?! Skin texture is why I buy Xperias over any other phones. If that is lost, I'm out of the Sony game. By the way, great channel !

Thanks for the feedback. I plan doing more bokeh shots in the daylight comparison, as it is usually most used in good light. As for better texture on the xz3, i can’t really agree here. It is just an illusion given by the more luminance noise. But if you look closely, the xz3 isn’t able to resolve more detail. It’s just fine grain

@@PixelPeepers Yes I see there is noise, but there is also more texture, I see it too, more on some pictures than others I confess. The Pixels also let more noise than other phone makers and they are know for superb detail and texture representation. I believe noise is necessary for texture to appear. Getting rid of it is a mistake. Although I agree that until the Premium the Xperias might have left a bit too much noise ;) Like I saw in a comment below, in between the XZ3 and the Premium would probably be perfect. Is there a way of shooting pics without the secondary camera, like a manual mode where we could disable it, and then how would the pics compare between the two modes at night and day ? Ha, good question ! Cause if we can choose that would be awesome !

I must say, XZ3 did a good job. The 2 lenses had an upper hand here, but colors are still accurate

Yes. Usually other phones deliver good night photography by using some sort if software trickery, frame combining, etc. But only raw high iso quality can deliver accurate colors in low light

@@PixelPeepers I had S9+, and compared with xz2 premium. S9+ does slightly better in low light in auto, but xz2 premium does extremely better than S9+ in manual, and blows it out of water. And in daylight (including bokeh), xz2 premium is far superior

i dont see any difference,a little bit more noise on xz3 but without make something ugly or uneceptable.only in 1080p xz2p makes better job.i think that xz3 with oled is better to buy from the fat and heavy xz2p.we whait for the daylight now and i belive there might xz3 does better job! thanks sony who see your job and decide to send you this phone.

Bun, ăsta video place la mine! :D Sony e pe calea cea bună, face senzori beton. Acu aștept un senzor mai mare, gen 1/1,7 sau 1/1,2 inci chiar, cum avea gloriosul Nokia 808 PV. Un senzor din ăla de 20MP va da cu competiția de pământ, menținând post procesarea pentru eliminarea zgomotului la minimum, oferind detalii excelente. Să aibă interval dinamic și reproducerea culorilor bine puse la punct și aia e. La o adică Sony sunt tătici la fabricarea senzorilor. Also, it's only "superior". No need for "much superior" or "more superior". Ca-n română: e simplu "superior", fără grade de comparație. :P Toate cele bune și să fiți sănătoși și voioși! *grammar nazi signing off*

Please focus in Full HD mode. And in the dark, for. The xz2 premum phone comes with Huawei Mat 20 Pro. Because Sony is in 4K mode due to digital camera shake. And impotence In central frame control, the shutter speed is 1/60 and low ISO. But in full HD. The most ISO on all mobile phones in the world in filming. The ISO 12800 combines two sensor images. But Huawei Mat 20 Pro Maximum 3200 ISO. In Hd. And, it's in 4k mode. And Sony multiplies that light. Please compare in Full HD mode and in absolute darkness.

I have a theory about Sony not even try to be best on the camera on smartphones...they sell the very sensors they mount on their smartphones, although they do not develop the stock android camera app to work perfectly with that specific sensor...my personal opinion is that they don't want to because if they put some effort in it, the photographic division of Sony corporation will lose money...no point in making a smartphone that makes semi professional photos, if you have to sell a 400€semi professional camera

@@PixelPeepers not really into oled, too much burn in issues for such high price....but where I live Sony's fine LCD XF9005 is 30-40% more expensive than fine LG SK85000 and Samsung's adequate competitor. I don't need better TV:) While XZ3 is 180€ less than LG G7:)(?) Sony is crazy if you ask me:)
