I'm a sony fanboy, so xz3... just kidding Objectively, the xz3 performs better in photo while the xs takes better video especially in 4k. I would still choose the xz3 though.I do wish sony implement OIS on the rear camera. Just like OLED, I think it going to be awhile till sony do that.

Even without OIS, the xz2 premuim is one of the best out there in term of low light photography, so Really I can't imagine how amazing it would be for sony to implement OIS. They might not do that though because they don't want to cannibalize their mirroless' sales. Anyway,They will nail their smartphone if they implement OIS, a bigger battery and better audio,and I'm pretty sure they already nail it in every other department.

The one I've been waiting for! Again, a great comparison, mate! Wow, ±$2000 for this video... A risky decision but I really appreciate you for doing so, I really hope you'll get your money back and have so many viewers and subs. I think I prefer XZ3 for rear cam photos and front cam videos, and iPhone XS for front cam photos and rear cam videos.

As alway great comparison video Xperia is winner 🥇 for me but i phone did better job in some cases, Love to see XZ2 PREMIUM coz in my opinion it has better camera 📸 than XZ3 can't wait to see low light comparison and excited to see XZ2 PRIMIUM in low light than xz3 🙂

Done and done! Granted, photos from Xs are much superior than XZ3 but still hate the company tbh. Lens flare on the XZ3 hurts my eyes and for the price tag SONY can do much better. Not long until I hate SONY like I hate Apple if SONY continue their trend like this. p/s: Thanks again for this video even you almost went bankrupt. Really moved my heart 😋

Removing the headphone jack then charge $9 for the dongle. Introduced fu*king notches. The list goes on. Still no denying about their phone performance though but the price can still be significantly cheaper.

I agree with you mate, but you must detach yourself from the consumer point of view and think about the other side. Apple is a company, and like all companies, their are into the business of making profits. And they are big enough to do it. You think that samsung, Sony, lg or huawei wouldn’t do the exact same thing so they could get stupid rich like apple did? It’s business, and apple are the best at this business of making money, they may not be the best at making phones, but if i were in this business, i would have done the same if i could...

The Sony Xperia XZ3 wins in terms of details. However, the iPhone Xs seems to win in dynamic range in most cases. Sony either have too dark parts or too bright parts. Great comparison video with good music too. :) You definitely earned yourself a new subscriber here.

Nice comparison yet again! Gotta love that Sony this year... Camera rocks bigtime.. If they just put back the headphone jack and FM radio I would have upgraded from my XZ.. But I think I'm trying a Pocophone or Zenfone this year.

What impressed me most was the colors that are very real in Xperia especially when I see the boy running past the leaves, stones showing the ground, sky and the houses. The image of Xperia makes us immerse in the image having the same real impression of being all together with you in comparison.

I am sorry XZ3 have Motions-eye sensor that iPhone Xs don't have, so XZ3 can do Perdictive Capture and it work with the camera smart launch is very impressive and very useful in real life.

i was waiting for it..but once it saw it on release, i really dont like the design and size...its too big for me...i love the camera but the overall design is just not my liking...also in the xz3 i was hoping they put the new sony sensor with 48mp but they still put the same old imx400, but on your reviews and other youtubers, i saw its still comparable to other 2018 flagships so decided to go for the xz3

iPhone for dynamic range and less skin softening (not sure why the XZ3 exhibits such behaviour) Sony for everything else And in 1080p, I feel like the XZ3's stabilization is just in Standard mode instead of Intelligent Active. Should've tried checking on that. But still looking forward for low light comparisons, and the iPhone cameras are more compelling than Samsung cameras this year!

And the man is back with the bang 👍🏼. Now while there might not be a dramatic difference in out right quality from both the phones, there is no denying that iPhone has a seriously good dynamic range. In my opinion it's the best in the market right now. However, as I said before it really is very difficult to say which one is truly superior cause both sometimes show better retention in details over the other at different times and same goes for the lens flare (though Sony has more) etc. On the other hand I am not sure about colour reproduction which seems more to be yellowish with iPhone, only the person who took the snap can better tell which one came closer to reality. I am pretty sure that the iPhone will have an easy win in the low light photography.

Regarding color reproduction, iphone is slightly too warm. Sony is better most of the times, the only scenario where it messed up a bit are the portraits, where it gives some pinkish hues to the skin tones. But overall, it has better colors than iphone has, and that's saying something, as apple is no slouch... As for low light, i have the same feeling... @@PixelPeepers thanks for the vote reminder, I forgot it. Yes that skin colour was exactly the thing that got me thinking if Sony was otherwise doing a better job or not. No slouch at all I mean it's ultra pixel Vs mega pixel and we know as a matter of fact which one has an upper hand. So yes Sony didn't do bad at all except for that lens flare.

Thanks for the great comparison again, I really missed your video!To my eyes there's no comparison in video recording performance, iPhone wins hands down... wider dynamic range, higher amount of details and better stabilisation in 4K, and also deals with lens flare better than XZ3. XZ3 only wins in 1080p stabilisation but that's only it. Photo comparison is a bit more interesting though. I hate both yellow cast on iPhone and consistent pinkish hue on XZ3, but iPhone again seems to be dealing better with dynamic range. There's less sharpening and smudging going on as well and that seems to be resulting in better details when shooting at human face and general subjects. But in many photos (mainly flowers and greens) I preferred XZ3's photos because of seemingly more accurate white balance but also slightly punchier colours. For selfie iPhone XS looks better IMO.

i couldn't agree more! If Sony would fix their issue with that pink cast for skin tones, it would be great. All in all, i didn't expect sony to be this good against the iphone xs, but i was pleasently surprised!. Don't forget to vote your favourtie in the poll ;)

Xz2p has a much better cam and 4k screen. But xz3 has oled, much better design and form factor, android 9, more powerful speakers, side sense (gimmick). I personally would pick the xz2p, just for that camera. But xz3 is acompelling device as it is

can see that the advantage of 19mp lens offer more details and the video on iPhone did very good hdr

Nice comparison prefer the Sony on picture probably the iphone mainly on 4k and1080 videos for Sony, emage stebilazation goes for the iphone. buh overall for me sony

Well, in all honesty, xz3 is not that big of an upgrade to xz1 in camera department. Lg g7 is crap (the v40 is very promising), s9 and note 9 are slightly better in low light than xz3, but nothing serious. The p20 pro, mate 20 pro are big upgrades in camera, but the android software is not for everyone. My prediction is that pixel 3 will be the best camera in 2018, that is the phone to get!

Ah, the op6 is a very good phone, but the camera is slightly behind the best of the best like the phones i mentioned above

I think all your pictures are perfect examples of the better colour on xz3, I dunno why but all the iPhone pics look messed with, like an Instagram filter was part of the post process.

Iphone photos tend more towards a warm color balance, most of them resembling to what a samsung shoots in daylight. I don't like this approach to colors either

Watching on my xz3. For point and shoot and overall video quality, Sony wins. For 4k stabilization and video quality when facing the sun, iPhone gets this. IPhone also has better beautification or enhancement when taking pictures of a person, also better selfie cam. As a point and shooter under daylight, Sony cam is perfect.

If only sony had better dynamic range...

The Sony seems to be mostly let down by its software. Some of the shots show that the sensor in the Sony allows for more detail to be captured. But on many shots the Sony seems to smooth the details out due to aggressive noise reduction, resulting in a image with less detail than the 12 mp from the iPhone. This is particularly seen in the faces, where skin detail is almost completely smoothed out. Another downside to the high pixel count of the XZ3's sensor is that the dynamic range is noticeable less than the iPhone. Sony could improve on this if they make their HDR rendering more advanced. It could then potentially be the best. As it is now, I feel it's a bit of a mixed bag with sometimes the Sony looking better, but on other shots the iPhone does better. Overall the iPhone is more consistent in its image quality both in Photo and video.

Yeah, this is the major drawback of sony phones, inconsistencies. And it only gets worse in lowlight. Please vote your favorite in the poll

If only there could be better dynamic range on some of those Sony video /pics. It definitely has nicer colour and detail in a lot of cases.

Xz2 premium has the dynamic range on point as far as i’ve heard, but didn’t got the chance to test it

Honestly, both cameras are good. But technically speaking Sony's cameras are good. How can you choose if both sensors are made by Sony? Win win situation for Sony. To think that xz3 is much cheaper than iphone, it is really a good phone to consider. Keep flourishing PIXEL KING! I am not talking in uppercases now but I hope you can hear me talking with full of conviction and enthusiasm. Hahaha

wait - i don't get it. iphone clearly had skies that were bluer, but my question is, is that the actual color of the skies? XZ3 seemingly had a filter to it. resolution-wise i think XZ3 is definitely ahead, but for warmed up colors and exposure, i think iphone takes the round.

Iphone has warmer than natural tone to its photos, so as for color accuracy, sony wins (except skin tones where both phones mess it up). If we speak of color vibrancy, yes, iphone has punchier more vibrant colors

Well, sadly, there is no option to turn it off. There is no such option as beauty filter. On portrait mode for selfie there is a slider with skin softness, but that was to the lowest setting

i'd say i really prefer the natural tones from XZ3. after a while, iphone XS's pics seem closer to samsung's settings in their earlier days.

Exactly what i was saying in a previous comment, i don’t like either the direction apple is going with color accuracy, going towards samsung or huawei tones. Few years back, apple was the benchmark in natural looking photos, now i guess sony took that title from them

Although both sensors and lenses are Sony's! The Xperia XZ3 does much better in every aspect of camera delivering a more real and rich image in detail. The amount of clarity, contrast, brightness, shadows and sharpness of the XPERIA images is far superior to the sound that proved to be far superior to anything you see on the market. One of the only problems I see in companies like apple and others is wanting to force the bar too much with the post processing of images that make them artificial images making the images look like washed images and this was never good.

I am not the biggest fan of more lenses, unless they are really useful, like xz2 premium or lg g7. One lens is more than enough to give great results, just look at the pixel phone taking the world by storm with it’s great camera, and now the xz3 doing great with only one lens

sony is richer..sometimes it can be cool colors but sometimes it also can be warm colors..iphone just warm

Overall sony has more natural colors in my opinion. Iphone, like you’ve said, is just too warm. They are slowly following samsung’s footsteps in color balance towards yellowish warm colors and i don’t like that. A few years ago, iphone was the industry leader in color accuracy, but not anymore...

1st, they are both great cameras. I can't believe iPhones front camera's dynamic range, it's insane! They are both hit and miss. Sometimes xz has the better dynamic range, other times the iPhone. Other times the iPhone murders the xz in preserved detail, other times the xz shits on the iPhone in detail. In colours Sony is the winner though. IPhone has a warmer unnatural tone, but in both ways, the colour temperature can be easily fixed. I don't mind even if the photos hud dull lifelike colours. The colour can easily be fixed. What can't be fixed though is detail and dynamic range. Sure you can edit the photo and restore detail and add dynamic range, but you really can't restore crushed whites and shadows. Both are hit and miss in this. I can't explain it. As I said though both are great cameras. One win for the iphone's front facing camera though, that dynamic range is a killer!

picking a favourite phone in a comparison is not biased. If one performed better than the other, than it deserves it. Think of a comparison between a galaxy s7 and a sony xz3. Sony would win hands down, right? Then you can vote for it. Only this time it is much harder to decide on a Winner :))

Well, i am passionate for phones photography for long time, i’ve been buying and exchanging phones long time before i ever started this channel. So i thought i might as well do something productive with my passion. As for the money, me and my wife have jobs, i work in IT and she works in an accountant office, we have decent salaries. We also sell some of our used phones to get new ones. KZread doesn’t provide too much for now, i think that since monetization started we raised about 100 $ 😂😂. We also started a paypal account for donations, link is in the channel description, but we didn’t get any until now 😂😂

i'm not saying it's not a great panel, but oled Technology is superior. Not all OLED's, huawei, lg and oneplus for example use more budget oled panels, but iphone and Samsung have magnificent displays, better than any LCD on the market in my opinion. And now Sony joined them with that superb panel on the XZ3...

Truth be told iphone has a better video stabilization and better low light images, Sony Xz3 is better in good lighting conditions especially on a sunny day outdoors and colors are more true to life.

all my videos are shot and edited at 30fps. For 60fps, i need to encode them in 60 fps, and, sadly, my computer will commit suicide if i decided to make video editing at double the frame rate. I desperately need an upgrade, but for now, all my money are going into new smartphones to review... These are the drawbacks of a small time youtuber....

Iphone is much warmer than the Sony. Video stabilization for Apple since OIS and another plus for not as much lense flare. Pictures For Sony, more clarity and details, Colors seemed more accurate. Sony's contrast is higher which means you'll lose some details at the top or bottom, but it makes a pleasing picture.

Im a big xperia fanboy....and i really love xz3....the colour reproduction is always the best..but that is all i can give to xz3 this time...im especially dissappointed with from front camera...how can sony lose to iphone??! I can see xz3 has better noise control...but iphone dynamic range is really good... Which one i like? For sure xz3...the picture and video which looks cinematic is really good for instagram and social media (basically all i did with phone camera)

Well, don’t get too surprised apple bested the sony in dynamic range. This year, the xs has better dynamic range than even the pixel 3 thanks to its smart hdr feature...

7:58 - Beautification! Did you tried turning it OFF? 😅 😅 I know it's silly, but is that photo even after beautification turned OFF? As, here as Sony didn't detected face, so without any beautification, Sony did much better job at 10:34

hey mate. There is no beauty mode turned on, don't worry.. The thing is that the first photo at 7:58 is a selfie (front camera), and the photo at 10:34 is a back camera portrait. Different sensors, different processing algorithms. In both photos sony detected the face and changed settings accordingly in superior auto mode ;)
