I’m finishing up on my xj650 build. The electrics that where inside the headlight are giving a headache 🤕. Good luck with that when it comes time to reroute them.

Just a suggestion for removing the engine, take a look at my engine R&R vid for the GS, it was a heavy lump too, I created an engine jig then removed the frame from engine, not sure it will work with the XJ but worth a look.

@@jishh The problem with my cg125 is that it was "to original" to turn into a cafe racer. So will look for one thats not been looked after and make a cafe racer

  • @FluxinShitUp

Well Jish ill be blunt , i never took it out. It was a good running bike and i wanted it to hold its story (as in its natural wear and tear). The bike is older than me and made people happy along the way. I wanted to give it a new identity while retaining its former. As a builder i know youll understand it. I did this project on a modest budget. Rebuilt the carbs.. Fork .. And assortment of small odds and ends with wiring and tubing ... Gaskets fluids pads exc.... I did the same tail bar you did with LED lighting. Used a seat i found to lay the format. Put cafe style flipped bars on it. A headlight with hi+lo and turn signals all in one. Cut the baffles out of the exhaust. Removed the rims and black powdercoated them. Updated gauges new old look. Most money i spent was in the tires because tires make the bike. Your project is a full teardown and that's why im hooked on watching it. I think eventually ill do the same. What i can tell you though is this bike is truly special and i think once you get to experience it youll fall in love with it. It likes to lean with a good amount of weight to make you completely feel trust in it , has the power and sound that makes you crave rolling your wrist back. It has personality and character that is impossible to find with modern bikes. Im 35 and the bike is older than me but it makes me feel 16 again with every ride. Can't wait to see your progress and know there is another seca out there with a new life. Enjoy it man. It's one of those bikes you'll never want to sell.
