03Kulry I followed this video instructions on how to fix it. My xbox kept shutting itself off every single time It went to the home screen. It would stay on the home screen for like 5-10 seconds then it would freeze and the screen would turn black then the console would shut off. So I watched this video and did all the steps to fix it and I got lucky by mashing A on the troubleshooting menu.

Thank you for the vid - saw a lot of contrasting info across a lot of sites about how to perform this reset. I did just as you showed and it worked like a charm!

Thanks for the help. I searched everywhere for a fix, this was the first video I found that actually gave me something more than a power cycle and removing all cables as a solution.

Your detailed explanations were more helpful than any other troubleshooting tips on the Microsoft site or from other youtubers. This was literally the only thing that actually worked and made my xbox finally start working properly after a whole day of trying to find a solution. Thank you so much! You're a f*cking legend

I know this green screen is a known issue and it’s been published several times but this is by far the best Xbox One S 1tb video in which you tell everyone that you turn it on then hit the eject and sync button. This actually got it to go to the menu so I could reset. Thank you!

I see what you mean by having to repeat pressing the two buttons in case it doesn’t work. I love Xbox but sometimes Microsoft does a half-assed job with their product. Ever since the first 360.

Just a heads up, Its quite rare for this to in such a way you have to do all the steps if it is just this simple problem; this issue has become increasingly more common as the new account selecting area has been updated so sometimes it doesn’t load up the account selecting area and transforms into black nothing to worry about just unplug and plug in the xbox. If this does not work for you, my Xbox would not give me the troubleshoot screen to pop up when I held down the two buttons upon start up, but I held the power button down until it did a factory reset when it was on to turn it off, and then when I turned it back on I held down the power button alone until it did something weird after about eight seconds, then the next time I started it and press those two buttons it did allow the troubleshoot menu to come up

ok when I turned mine on it doesn't do anything it sits in a black screen so I open up the troubleshoot and when I go to click on an option I hear the Xbox turn off indicator but the fan still running and the game freezes

This is great at first I wanted to smash my Xbox but when I found ur vid I was like yes so thanks bro

I have the digital console and instead of the disc eject you just gotta hold down the sync with the power button after turning it on until you here the noise shown EzPz

Mine does this every time I disconnect the power cord. I found a partial solution and a few different ways to fix it. Disconnect the power cord for 10 seconds then plug it back in push the power button and wait for the light to go bright and then dim to its normal brightness then hold just the sync button down by itself until you hear the 2 beeps and let go on the second beep and it aslo pulls up the black menu. And like the video shows it will ask resume/ restart xbox and so on. Click on restart xbox keep games and apps As you normally would It will eventually ask you about "power save mode or instant on" I don't know why but when I click on power save this problem happens consistently but I have recently found out if I put it on "instant on" and don't disconnect the power supply ever again it doesn't happen at all anymore. If you're having a black screen of death turn on the xbox wait the 1 second for the the light to go bright and dims back to normal hold down the power button and the eject button down until you hear 2 beeps and it will pull you out of the black screen of death and it will put you in 420p and you'll have to got to the menu to change it back. Now If the black screen of death keeps happening it's a sign the "hdmi retimer chip" is starting to go bad. Hope this helps someone

I found that when the Xbox is updating either itself or games and apps and you forcefully unplug the power cord it will cause the screen of death or at least one of the reasons it can happen

I bought a white Xbox one S used the person I bought it from said it worked fine and I saw it running with my own eyes. When I brought it home and plugged it in it turned on started in a timely fashion ran well but my screen was covered in artifacts and the display was too small to fill the screen. So I went to my settings and changed the resolution from 480p to 1080p and it immediately displayed no signal on my TV. I waited about 30 minutes and then tried hard resetting my xbox. Still no display, I changed HDMI cords to one that worked on my old xbox 1 and used all three different ports in my TV, it is in the port that goes to the TV and I flipped the cord around ETC. I tried starting it up in low resolution mode this did not work. The screen is not black my TV says no signal. My xbox seems to be working fine turns on and off normally. Please help I just bought this yesterday

Here my problem when i turn on my xbox it turns on fine but my controller just blinks and then when i try to sync it to my Xbox my xbox doesn’t sync with then its say preparing xbox and it takes like 10 minutes the it takes me to that screen but it only says remove everything and not keep games and apps like it used to say

This is an ongoing thing every month this is quite frustrating

All u need to do is login to the account with the pass / gold it not stored on the xbox it's online

So I have a Xbox One X, and I’ve been dealing with similar issues for over a year now.. I’ll turn on my console, it will either load up the main menu or it won’t do anything at all. If it turns on, I can only play for 5 minutes until it starts freezing and nothing works. I have done everything there is to do, I’ve even cleaned the inside of it. I’ve done everything in this video time after time, it doesn’t solve my issue.

Quick tip when you are in the troubleshoot menu just press B and wait for it to come on and it will be the same and doing all of that. You don’t really need to remove your profile!

@@limitlesschocolate2796 I was in the same boat man. Now I will tell you that if you in fact need to do a complete factory reset. You wont lose any saves because they are in the cloud. And your games and apps should still be tied to your account so all you need to do is re download them. That's what I had to do for some of my games.

My issue is I tried downloading the os update and putting that onto a usb but now the USB isn’t recognized by the console?

I did go to the trouble shoot but then when I reset it goes to the preparing console and it just crashes and puts me back to the troubleshoot does anyone know how to fix that ?

I have to do this every time I turn my Xbox on 💀

i have a one s that i bought second hand, and using it was laggy at times but after a month of having it, i restarted the console since i had frame drops and then it took me to a screen that said "Preparing console" but there was no progress bar, then it took me to a trouble shooting menu. i tried to reset it from there but everytime i tried resetting and deleting all data, resetting but keeping all data, restarting the xbox, going to the trouble shooting menu by using the buttons instead and EVERYTIME I DID THESE, it took me back to the stupid menu. it's been like this for a year now and i honestly don't know what to do since nothing in the video works and i don't have a computer to download an update file to a usb drive so i'm just lost at this point, if it's a hard drive issue then i'm out of luck since i have nowhere to get a new drive so can anyone tell me if there's a different way? i'm using a 500gb xbox one s if that even helps

Same thing just when u turn on the Xbox press the disc button and once the disc comes out put it back in and it should work

hey so corrupted game and app files can cause this and if you don’t delete those on reset it won’t help. so sometimes you do have to delete everything
