mine makes the turn on sound but won't actually turn on

Yep, that was it! I was within a gnats whisker of buying a new XBox, when I saw your video clip. I decided to take the plunge and send off for a new power brick, and I figured that if it wasn't the problem, then I'd only wasted $40 or so (off ebay). Plugged it in, and it worked straight away! Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the advice about the power brick. I didn't actually have to replace mine, but nonetheless I would have never thought to turn my attention to that instead of just the system. I managed to get it going again after just disconnecting it for a while. Problem solved. Thanks! Time for Far Cry 3.

this was a great to me because I sent my xbox over to my little brothers and it wasn't working and I took good care of my xbox it never scratch but wouldn't turn. I told them to get a new power brick and ill wait for them call me back if It works. thank you very much for your help :)

good tip your right they do overheat sometimes and simply unplugging for awhile goes a long way thank you..

what if the system's brick is orange but still has this problem?
