She met him first as his muse. She came back as human to be with Sonny. She's not "suspended" in time anymore so she doesn't have the memory of the muse; so they had to meet and fall in love all over again. This is of course, my interpretation.

Anthony Anzalone, I like it, save for the fact, that if her father allowed for this to happen, humankind would be deprived of Terpsichore's gifts going forward, which he seems unlikely to have countenanced since she (and her sisters) had been rendering that assistance for thousands of years, presumably. It could work, though, if after living as a human and experiencing love with Sonny, it would be contrived that she would be reincarnated as Terpsichore after dying, and return to doing her good works. Ah, I'm just riffing.

The brief instrumental outro that ELO wrote to this is superb... the drums and the strings.... gives me goosebumps... Jeff should add to it and use it as a final outro at ELO's up and coming "Over and out" tour.... that would be pretty poignant... standing in the rain for the intro.... and this for the outro.... what an ending to one hell of an amazing band.

Many thanks to Jeff Lynne, Richard Tandy and the gang from the Electric Light Orchestra. Being a fan of the Electric Light Orchestra means the whole damn world to me. The grand finale of Mr Blue Sky is just the greatest piece of all time. I am proud to be a fan of a wonderful british orchestral band of all time. Jeff Lynne and Richard Tandy are my heroes. There's an awful lot you can say about this movie... but "good special effects" isn't one of them... Xanadu was released in 1980... when another movie, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back came out. The special effects found in Xanadu are very much in-line with most movies and effects used in the early 1970s, nearly a decade earlier... the effects used in Xanadu were cheap and out-of-date by 1980 standards.

I think this part and Sonny's quest for Kira are more stepped in greek myth symbolism. Its implied that Sonny actually created the mural of the muses hence he knew where to find it. He's pygmalion. In the myths, he was a sculptor that created and ultimately fell in love with his own creation. The problem is like the statue Galatea, Kira is not a person. She even says so "Im not as I appear to you" She cant love Sonny back because as a reflection of his own needs and desires to be great...she's empty. She can inspire in him love but Sonny is Narcissus...doomed because he loves his own reflection. But... Kira has become self aware and wants to be trully alive. "Just a minute...isnt anybody interested in my feelings?" Like Orpheus in the underworld, she sings and charms the gods to allow her to escape with her love to be trully alive. I think in the end, she was incarnated in to the waitress...independent, beholden to only herself to feel and live as she requested. For Sonny's part, he has to now actually let go of his vanity and need to be Great and just live with real love. "His" muse is gone but there's this human girl that reminds him that love like a dream never dies. He lets go of "perfect image" and unlike Danny that learned this the hard way...walks away open to regular "human" love. As for the muse...it was a moment everybody...forever to humans but a moment to the ethereal realm of inspiration. She will always be back if you look for her. ;)

As a good Analyst, the story was about a Greek Muse who came to earth to inspire a struggling artist to open a club. He teams up with a former musician to help make that happen. The reason why the musician gave up his career was a woman on the album who is similar to the muse who is inspiring the artist. The thing is that, he never went after her. Meanwhile, the Goddess falls for the Mortal and the Mortal falls for the Goddess. The dream was almost threatened when the Goddess broke the rules and had to leave earth to face the consequences. Muses come down to earth to inspire, not fall in love. But in this story, the musician who had the same muse as the artist encouraged him not to make the same mistake he made and find a way to go after her. He then skated through the mural into the realm of the Goddess. He pleads with Zeus to let her go so they can be together. But Zeus, remaining strict as usual won't have it and banished the artist back to earth! She then sings about her love for the artist. Her Mother, who believes that some rules were made to be broken. The Goddess encouraged her parents to go back to earth for one more night with the artist. Zeus finally agrees and says maybe for a moment or forever. As soon as she left earth for good, the artist realizes that Zeus had his way. The musician tries to comfort him with a drink. As soon as he took it, he looked up and saw the Goddess. Zeus finally let her go! She gave up her immortality to be with the artist forever. It was fate that brought them together not only to inspire but to love! Love always wins! At least they had a happy ending.
