    I purchased the 2022 model last year with only 1224 miles on the clock, and I love this machine! After not riding for 44 years and finally getting my kids through college and on their own, I’m back in the saddle again!! No friction zones and shift timing to worry about, just situational awareness and enjoy the ride! Awesome review, thanks! 👏👍

    Best review so far. You spoke about the manual option when most don't know or understand how it works. I have a Honda CTX650 DCT and looking to "upgrade" to the Rebel CMX 1100. The transmission is smooth as silk, using the paddle shifter when I want - it just doesn't get much better. And starting off at a stop - I just smoke my husband's HD Street Glide since the computer shifting is faster than a human hand. What you missed is the handling on this bike. The lean on it is sweet and since I ride mostly twisty and sweeps (yep, I ride in Santa Cruz Mountains, CA) it will handle beautifully. Of course, riding in sports mode is the best at handling those roads too!

    Sweet real world reply, thank you! I (kyle) grew up in Fremont so my favorite ride is down the 17 up over into Santa Cruise. Get a chowder at the pier then head up Hwy 1 and then cross over Higwhay 9 or 35... and across a bridge back home. Miss those costal rides!

    I'm actually in the process of getting a Honda Rebel 500, but after seeing videos about the DCT I'm actually considering weather or not I should opt for the 1100 just for that. I mean i like how the DCT will shift in lower RPMs when in city conditions and the like to avoid any kind of jerkiness and it helps new riders avoid accidental "newbie" stuff when it comes to shifting such as having to shift up or down while in a curve. BUT when on the highways and at higher speeds it will shift in higher RPMs to allow the bike to speed up faster and be more what you would expect and need in highway conditions. Plus it helps new riders to concentrate on simply driving safely and not having to worry about the clutch or shifting, which is always a good thing. I think that a new rider might be better off learning on something like this and then once they feel comfortable on a bike they could then go to riding one and shifting it on their own. This thing with its DCT AND ABS, id say takes about 60% of the worry that new riders have about riding a bike out of the equation.

    Had the 300 and 500 nice bikes, but the 1100 dct does it all. I ❤ it. Just 100lb more though, but no big deal unless you are in even dirt road is bit harder to push around.

    The weirdest thing is having no clutch to feather at < 5mph speeds, and no idle creep. On my CB500 coming out of my garage I'd give it a tiny bit of gas & ride the clutch till I was onto the road proper - on my Africa Twin DCT that amount of throttle does nothing. A little more & it's taking off like WHOAH. You have to ride the back brake, put it under tension & use brake control like you'd use the clutch, while remembering to keep the throttle open enough that the DCT wants to deliver *some* power. Misjudge it & you'll drop it. I'll get used to it though - I've ridden it once so far, just waiting for a day when it's not battering down with rain to get on it again.

    I bought the first one that came into central Florida (I got the red one) and I love it. I swapped out the muffler for a Two brothers Racing and a few other mods, like handlebar raisers and headlight cowling, and saddlebag. And I ride that thing almost every day. I have the User Mode dialed in for the way I ride and it's really nice.

    I got the first one delivered to Southern Nevada and pretty much have done the same thing. I put on the Vance & Hines muffler, factory cowl, sleeker mirrors, a Sargent saddle (custom order), tail rack and left saddlebag. Slow and easy or fast through some twisties, it’s simply a great bike to ride!

    Thinking about purchasing the Rebel 1100 DCT for the wife. She has always wanted to ride a motorcycle but is afraid of the manual transmission and going downhill. The DCT answers my question, but as far as going downhill from the mountains, does the DCT downshift to lower gears to slow the rider down?

  • @MotoCityTV

    @MotoCityTV

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes Sir. It really is amazing technology. As you back off the throttle the computer senses the inputs and automatically makes the gear selection... if you she wants it to be in a lower gear... she can just touch the "-" button and it will downshift again for increased engine braking. Just fantastic.

  • @ccmiller4

    @ccmiller4

    The computer can/will adjust to the rider over time. Suggest she ride in sport mode as it keeps the bike in lower gears especially for mtn and hill rides. Don't forget she can always use the paddle shifter to drop a gear or two as well.

    The ECU is electronically speed-governed. The engine is not putting out less power. That, btw, is exactly the way my Rebel 1100 acts: it pulls 4th, 5th or 6th gear hard to 99 or so and then you can feel the electronics keep the motor below any higher speeds. When a tuner or re-flash is available that removes the speed limiter, I’m not sure I’ll spend much time doing triple digits, it is a cruiser, after all; but, it’s a shame to limit the bike from an occasional speed blast. I suspect the front end starts getting pretty light at higher speeds and the insurance considerations outweighed offering a 120 mph cruiser.
