The 5th episode was freaking phenomenal! The ending when it went to black and then Rouge said "I can't feel you." That got me, I'm not going to lie. Unbelievable. This is what Marvel needs to do and transfer it to an MCU movie. It will blow the budget but damn, it would look incredible. Kudos to the folks who put together X-Men 97 together.

Same. Personally I’m tired of time travel always bringing back characters. It takes away the impact of the death. But this series has been phenomenal thus far.

@@Thecoolguy463 This will not be the first time Cable did something like this. Everytime he did this "prevent past events that cause the death of people" stuff (and usually causing the death of the X-men) in the old seasons was because it was vital towards his war against Apocalypse in the future by denying and taking away a specific gain Apocalypse obtained from past events. These events happening now most likely contributed greatly towards Apocalypse's rise to power in the future which makes it vital for Cable to prevent from happening in the time when the X-men are alive.

It better not be. Rogue and gambits romance is one of the most popular in X-Men and it has been since the 90's. Fans have been waiting for them to finally get them together properly which they have in the comics so if they just delete that whole thing like it's nothing in a couple of episodes that is a travesty!

Morph also has bright yellow boots, but makes more sense that it's cyclops

Gambit does has a healing factor and his powers can disable touch-based abilities...like Rogue....they will end up together like in the comic books....they were a powerhouse couple in the comic books back in the 1990s.

X-Men the end book had them married with twins. I think there has been other instances of their twins showing up but I can't remember specifically. There's been art of them over the years.

Haven't cried for an animated story since the movie Up but God the Magneto, don't be afraid, and Gambit, remember it, got me bawling 😭

My friend and I were shell shocked after ep 5 and had to process on what happened. RIP to all the mutants and Gambit. But here is what I think will happen at the end of this season. Gambit might come back as either Apocalypse's new horseman or Mr Sinister revive him like how he did with Morph. Cable time travels again to prevent this tragedy. But since the Watcher appeared, it is possible this is a canon event which it can not be amended. I have a feeling at the end of season 1 that the OG team might split up with Cyclops becoming more aggressive like Magneto and started hunting down anti mutant grps. Probably Rogue might join him for revenge for Gambit. Storm will stay with whoever is left like Wolverine and maybe Jean Grey since Storm still believes in Professor X's dreams. Maybe Emma Frost will join Cyclops since she seems to know what is going on with the complicated love triangle. (I want an updated Marvel Legends Emma Frost figure in her White Queen Attire) Overall, X-Men 97 is going very strong in its comeback. Let's hope for a Spider-man 98 series revival!

Nice theory!

I was re-watching episode 1 and noticed that they foreshadowed the decimation of Genosha in a pretty neat way. You can hear the same ace of base song playing in Madelyn's vision, along with Cable saying, "I'm so sorry" before mastermold attacks. And it hits much harder. The writers did a great job of weaving this story together.

I remember when Storm lost her powers in the comics because of Forge's nullifying gun. It was quite the plot point that she remain the X-Men's leader even tho' she was powerless. There was also the complicating fact that Storm was in a romance with Forge at the time too.

It would be cool to see them bring back Gambit for his ‘horseman of death’ arc. One of the many roadblocks he and Rogue face.

Man, I’m still lost for words. Gambit is one of my favourites, up there with Cyke and Wolverine. It reminds me of when Brian from Family Guy was killed off to be brought back some time later. This is surely setting up for ‘E for Extinction’, but I’d love to see ‘House of M’. We will see what happens with the team now and the future seasons.

I hope spider man gets to have a continuation I loved the series when I was a kid it would be so amazing to see them bring it back with the same art style as X-men 97

I hope Gambit is alive! That was the most epic scene too.

Bastion exists due to Franklin Richards' Ghost failing to fully destroy Nimrod in the Days of Future Past comic series. Franklin Richards contained his younger self's powers so that his family wouldn't be an early target for the Sentinels. Then again Gambit did become the HorseMan Death and that Apocalypse could had possibly resurrected him knowing his potential mutant power.

Gambit was on another level! God like almost! Watched the episode twice!

The first main bad guy in the mutant saga after secret wars I’d love them to lead up to. With the stones gone Red Skull has no purpose on that planet anymore so he can return to earth and become somehow Red Onslaught in a big team up movie with the X-men and a couple Avengers coming in to help maybe Star Lord also

The Jubilee scene is a freeze frame from her fight with Mojo from Episode 4. I just went back and checked and it’s from when her and the other Jubilee are using their powers together to defeat him. Right after she puts her glasses down there’s a split second where the reflection in her glasses show all the energy building up before Mojo’s reflection shows up.

Looks like Cap's shield lands next to Rogue's foot. We may be getting a version of Avengers Annual #10, where Rogue takes the Avengers down. She already has Carol's power. Would be interesting seeing Rogue get all of the other Avengers' powers and then face off against Carol again as Binary.

Totally 💯 I can see Omega gambit. It’s very similar death of Superman < I think they go in that kind of route now superman gets revived more powerful in his black suit

Cap can very well hold it down against Rogue, he’s gone up against the Hulk. Is Cap beating them up?..No, but he would totally scrap with those stronger than him. I often need to educate those who don’t know the source material as well as I do ;)

The boots could be Morph's too. Like the yellow boots are standard issue X-Men attire. Especially from the original team.

BASTION will be a natural progression of ‘97 while not being the character’s biggest fan I personally think this will be a great addition and natural expansion of the ‘97 show I mean heck MAGS suit is from XMEN #200 and the show is primarily way past that story arc

I would prefer Gambit return without any timey-whimey reversal, that way Omega Gambit could be unleashed and then Mr. Sinister better watch out... I would like the Rogue and Gambit romance, but first have something big happen, Omega Gambit's mind is a little off and he needs to be mentally repaired, but until that happens he's more aggressive than before.

Episode 5 was a masterpiece of storytelling and pacing!! Amazing!!

I hope marvel revive Spiderman 98 and silver surfer 98 and having their own universe again

I completely forgot about how Gambit became Omega level in the comics. But, after rewatching the recent episode (which still breaks my heart every time), Gambit very much became Omega level when he blew up the mega-sentinel. It also makes me wonder if perhaps I was misunderstanding who the mega-sentinel was referring to when it said, "Omega level mutant detected". It was looking at Gambit and Rogue first before looking over at Magneto. It had already been fighting Magneto before that point and hadn't seen Gambit yet. People are also suggesting that they may be working toward introducing the X-Men Resurrection Protocol as well, but we also see Cable try to warn them in this episode. We might be seeing him doing more time travel to reverse what happened. So, all in all, maybe we will see Gambit come back better than ever. Honestly, the character deserves more screen time. Especially after how much other adaptations have either completely ignored him or gave him very little screen time at all.

I hope gambit is not dead. Dude is my favorite

It was never mentioned in the old series that Gambit got his powers limited on purpose like how in some comics he did. There is a chance of him unlocking more of his potential after this supposed "death", with that death being a trigger. Either way, he wont stay dead for long.

Does anyone else get like a Death of Supergirl from Crisis on Infinite earths vibe from Rogue holding Gambit like that?

Cyclops vs Cap would be a good fight. People seriously sleep on Scotts hand to hand capabilities. He would absolutely lose but he could hold his own.

Episode 5 of X-Men '97 especially at the end was cinema. Gambit the way he went out with a bang....he is going to be missed.

“He’s coming”might be Cassandra. Cable may be confusing Cassandra with Charles, because his timeline may be destroyed by a “Xavier”. Also side note Bishop did the same thing in the 90s series when he confused Mystique with Gambit.

Fun fact: Captain America in X-Men TAS was voiced by Lawrence Bayne, the same voice actor who also voiced Cable in X-Men TAS. He's also credited for voicing the X-Cutioner character in X-Men 97.

I hope they use the 5 resurrection mutants to bring him back.

Even Omega level mutants are unable to touch Rogue. Gambit will still be unable to touch Rogue, even if he becomes Omega level again. The only reason Magneto can “touch” Rogue is because his powers make the atoms in his body repel hers. So he’s not even technically touching her.

Cap and wolverine did an episode in the last season in the 90s I remember when I was a kid and I rewatched everything before 97 came it brought me back to the weekends for all the cartoon but waking and taping only xmen

When I got the x men sega genesis game for good grades in 3rd grade…my mom always called out “the man in the trench coat, u know the Cajun with the Donatello staff”!! - my mom - riding for comic book nerds in the most socially awkward way possible✊🏽❤️💯

This show is one of the best I have seen in a while. Glad Marvel is hitting a grand slam finally.

The name of the last three episodes is a blend of operation tolerance, and e is for extinction. So it's pretty much a given that bastion is involved.

If you remember from the original series, assassins versus thiefs, "the tithe is true." Gambit never really saw a noticeable change, so I expect that tithe just might kick in. But that's just a theory.

I love the art style in this still has the old school vibe.
