​@AnthonyJ504 Exactly, no one really wanted House of the Dragon and it's done great, mainly because they have the source material again and they made it back in to the 'political drama disguised as a fantasy sereis' that it originally was. I think continuing with House of the Dragon and then the Aegon the Conquer prequel is the best way to expand the GOT universe in live action form. The finale of Game of Thrones should just be left before they mess about with a sequel and make it worse with no source material and an on screen universe they already have made way too complicated and unsatisfisfying for fans.

"It sounds like George RR Martin was not helping develop the show..." He's still trying to figure out what happens to Jon in The Winds of Winter after 12+ years. Get in line, HBO. xD

Kit literally was talking to the audience about what went wrong with Jon’s character development in the main show, not why there should be a spin off about him. Yes we never saw him coming to terms with his Targaryen identity - one of the things everyone was upset about the ending. Sorry, too late.

It's good to be picky when it comes to story quality. Flash and fancy effects are fine but if there isn't a decent storyline to go with it, for those effects to build off of, it isn't worth watching.

True, hence why I have such low interest in the flying lizard spin off. Every episode of GOT had me making fan art, but HOTD doesn’t.

I would have preferred a jon snow series over a dunk and egg series. I know it will never happened but wouldn't it be awesome if hbo through out season 8 and made another 2 or 3 seasons of GOT and properly end the show. We deserved more than a cliff notes version of a final season, they rushed it and ruined what made the show great.

Tbf it went downhill when they ran out of books. If they were to redo it then they should start then.

I honestly feel that after the sour ending of the original show HBO kinda panicked and went the route of get the known popular character to carry a new show, then after HOTD and the success that show brought back to the franchise they didn't need Kit/Jon to carry the universe forward kicking and screaming like they thought they did.

And Netflix didn’t do crap to Cavill. Ultimately, henry made a rookie mistake and made a wrong bet on the DCU and coming back as Superman. Only to have gotten played by James Gunn. But he already quit the Witcher, and they already hired his replacement. Yes, Henry was upset with the material, but he ultimately made his move based on false intel that he was coming back as Superman. Which he later learned he was being fired from. That’s not on Netflix. You don’t make moves based off words and hand shake, you get your shit in writing. He didn’t.

You’d need an arc that would convince Jon he had to take the throne, which with Brann and Sansa in place would be a high bar. Also, remember Jon has enemies in Essos too. A show that didn’t give us an epic grudge match between Jon and Grey Worm would be missing an opportunity.

Way I see it is Bran died when he became the raven, and the way the show did it who/ what ever he became has ambitions enough to manipulate situations to become King. Jon could of found something in the north about how the raven became corrupted and now he gotta stop him

For me Dani was the heart of GoT and now that she is gone it would be hard to make anything that didn't revolve around her and the dragons.

I would have love for them to have gone with the corrupt weirwood net theory! Im so devastating about this 😭 jon deserve better!

Developing the story would’ve been an arduous task. Even an experienced writer would’ve had a difficult time constructing a story and scripts, especially given that there’s no source material.

Valeria would be a great story. How did the steel get invented? How did it fall? What caused the dragon scale? So many things to make a worthy story line but with major details of causes and developments.

instead of a sequel they should make the actuall ''A Song of Ice and Fire'' imagine bran actually turning out evil causing chaos and terror fand Jon snow has to rise up and claim the throne, first onto quest to find drago and build his army.

Damn some ‘fans’ still can’t accept that Jon isn’t King! If you thought Jon was going to or should have become King, you don’t understand the character or GRRM’s intentions.

My assumption is lack of material to adapt since the story pretty much was wrapped up though I can see the possibilities for more things to be added for the sequel

GOT needs to learn from walking dead and not wait too long or people will lose interest in Jon Snow. If you dont even have his story fresh in your head it fades.

If they think they couldn't find a "compelling" storyline for this, then fair enough I suppose, but it's kind of odd to me that they decide to cancel a spin-off series about the most popular Game of Thrones character that would more or less have built in demand from fans, but green light these series' taking place centuries before the events of GOT with no characters any fan of the original show would even be familiar with.

If you watched the original series, the you should at least be familiar with A LOT of the names…Rhaenyra & her (half)brother Aegon, Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters Rhaenys & Visenya, Ser Duncan the Tall, Baelor, etc were all mentioned in the show AND the books.

@@BnaBreaker Coincidentally, the series that were given the green light all come from original material written by George (unlike Bloodmoon and Snow, of which practically everything had to be invented from scratch). Clearly I can't know for sure, but you can sense that they're having trouble writing something completely new that works that wasn't already designed by George. And I don't blame them, considering how it ended with the Night King, it will be really difficult to write something that makes sense and doesn't seem very forced.

You can’t have a show of Jon Snow without having arch nemesis the Night King come back. We need the sword duel season 8 took from us!

Would be cool to see if a new writer eventually revives the long night series if it's a good enough idea and is worth it.

I think you could tie together an Arya and Jon Snow story -- Arya shows up in the Gorge with a fleet of strange ships, seeking Snow's help because blah blah some terrible thing in the unknown Western land, and Jon now has Drogon, etc. Something-something. I really want to see the Doom, but that couls be difficult to write a story for, and it would be FOOKIN expensive.

I wanted this one the most. But it's always about money

Just a thought I always had since you mentioned who would go far north just for Jon, my idea was always that Daario found out Daenerys did not get her throne and was killed so he sets out for revenge

All they had to do is have Jon hear rumors about young griff building an army to fight bran and trying to claim drogon And force his hand to go track down Drogon thru Valeria, all the way to shadow lands where all those fire priestess come from and find out that the fire witches brought back Danni but she’s changed and don’t remember what happened after she went to save Jon from the night king beyond the wall Have her be in denile about what happened They find another set of dragons eggs and have a big fight where Jon supposedly army and young griff fighting And him start ruling all the kingdom side from Westeros And the show would end with a time skip with drogon landing in the Wier-wood tree forest area Sansa running in to see who’s riding him then sees an older jon with strands of white hair With a baby dragon on his shoulder and him pulling down a little boy with white hair off drogon Then it pans to him reaching to grab Danie’s hand to help her down then it cuts to black

Thanks. Lots of good stuff. I could do without Dunc and Egg. A show about the Long Night was a bad idead. Who wants to see a series about Flea Bottom? Nobody. Glad they went with HotD and Aegon the Conqueror. I would have liked to have followed the characters from GoT. But, it's always risky when they don't have material from GRRM to base it on. I can't get enough of the world of Westeros. So, it would be fine with me to have more than one series in production at the same time, as long as the quality is there.

I’m disappointed however, D&D teallly messed up with the last two seasons. In a new sequel would have to correct all the damage (ie the long night, R+L, Danerys going mad, etc.). Way too many loose ends. Would be great if there was a Stark Family centered sequel, which includes where John Snow left off. I really do hope that eventually would get a Jon Snow sequel.

There's one thing I'd like even more than a spin-off about Aegon the Conqueror, it's a series on Old Valyria.

Tbh we just need a remake of season 8. With actual proper writing. Like what they did with Justice League where Zack Snyder made a new movie. We definitely need a duel between Jon and the Night king. A better and more logical end to the white walkers story which was supposed to be the main ending story. Make Bran actually do something. I could go on. They ruined so many story arch’s with season 8, including Dany, Jamie, Cersei, Jon of course, and so on.

Tbh I had a feeling they cancelled it cos it's been so long since they announced it. Makes sense to have a solid storyline, so I hope to see it sometime in the future! Lastly the Black Knight TV show makes sense to make with marvel which would delve into the lore of the ebony blade etc. I hope they do that!

Dunk & Egg could quite easily be bulked out with contemporaneous stuff occurring around the same time, that's mentioned in 'Fire & Blood'; that way, we have the more intimate, small-scale adventures of Dunk & Egg- but it can then be contrasted with the 'big history', & the Targaryen Court, with the focal character there being Bloodraven...

I was looking forward to this show! I was really hoping for them to redeem Jon! Hopefully we eventually get it, but this is annoying!

I could write a compelling story for jon in my sleep. 1. Using first men stark blood to unite the free folk 2. Reuniting old Valeria 3. Retaking his rightful thrown 4. He turns bad because of is targarian blood 5. Sam comes and finds him because bravos has become over run and all the maestrrs are dying 6. He finds a sword that starts to turn him into the night king 7. Since he was raised from the dead the fire god sends more priests to make him be the prince that wa me promised 8. Saunsa stark turns evil and he has to take the north from her 9. He remakes the nights watched and calls them Targerian Dawn and they fight what’s north of wall. This was 2 seconds of thinking

The story they should tell for Jon Snow is this: Jon seeking answers - About Bran - About the magic - About why his little brother was murdered essentially - he seeks out clues about this magic with Sam Tarly’s help and they run around the North and other important locations essentially being detectives trying to save Bran from the crazy entity or magic and when they finally find a way to do it they go to Sansa for help because as the Stark Queen they need her blood 🩸 to help perform the rituals but there’s a catch - this ritual COULD create a schism and unexpected consequences like the Children and the 13th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch found the hard way. All things come with a price but as someone who has been brought back to life by dark magic - and a Targaryn - he is a true believer and as someone who has lost essentially everything he has nothing left to lose. As side bars they could awaken the ice dragon whispered to be slumbering or have eggs hidden underneath Winterfell through Jon’s abilities like Danearys birthed her dragons. They would of course have to battle those who thought they were doing the right thing trying to catch Jon and send him back to the wall since he is banished and illegally in the south investigating AND as a mirror between their two linked fates - while he wakes his ice dragon Drogon could have taken Dany to the Red Priestesses who also return a very pissed off Mother of Dragons to life. Oh and in the end EVERYONE would know that he was a Targaryn and the true King of the seven kingdoms but by then would he be considered a hero or a villain - will he have saved Westeros or Created the very scourge generations of his family fought to protect the people from?

It sucks that we don't get this, hopefully in the future

I was so hopeful this specific spinoff would happen. Ridiculous that they aren't moving forward. With so many possibilities, how could they not come up with a good story. SMH.

I think they should definitely do a limited series at some point. Jon is still a very popular and beloved character. They can crack it over time but I do hope it happens at some Point

it would have been nice to get a sequel after GoT since we have HOTD and now Dunk and Egg is in the works

I wonder if it's because HBO discovery just wants to save money instead of having to many projects under their belt and just decided that the Jon Snow show isn't a big enough cash grab to garner enough eyes to make it worth producing I feel like old school HBO would've taken the risk

I hope they do Aegon's Conquest at some point. I also really like Jaehaerys and wonder if they could do something with his story

it is after the 4th season and ending of hofd. they have pretty much confimred.

In the show when Jon went asking the houses to join him nobody answered but Jon still attacked Ramsey with only what he had… Kit please make it keep going 😢

It could have made a decent short series, maybe 4-6 episodes.

Well that's just ruined my day, was really looking forward to seeing Jon's story grow

And while he spoke, all that I could hear was the woman saying "awww"😂😂😂

I'm actually glad they canceled it. I don't know how compelling a story that would have been. Now give me the story of Author Dayne with a final episode of him fighting young Ned...that would be compelling.

Would’ve been cool if he went North and his unique blood mix of Targ/Stark aka Magic blood and blood of the first men actually awoke or somehow uncovered that the first men or the bigger factions of the children etc were still around and that they were hiding waiting for the end of the white walkers and the prince who was promised etc etc

Apart from HOTD, I bet the majority of fans dont give a crap about what HBO are releasing in the GOT universe, but Im sure they wanted a Jon Snow spinoff. I feel sorry for Kit, Jon Snow & Black Knight seem like they're dead in the water... unless all this is a misdirect & something is planned, but they don't want anything let slip.

I need to know more about the Night King and White Walkers. How did they raise those babies they converted? What were they doing all along? I wouldn’t mind an anthology like or standalone series of them focusing on certain plots or stories.

I wish we could get a proper exploration and conclusion for the white walkers. Ideally by starting over entirely, but if that could get picked up in a jon snow show, so be it. Anything to retroactively make the Arya stab a sike moment

That kid Dexter was so sweet... finding out he got the part. Im a fan of his now and his character whenever the show starts.

If I have said it once, I've said it a million times. I want the Doom of Valyria. Not as a Tv show. A feature film. Jons show being shelved, well yeah... but I also feel it's the only way we get to know how Drogon is too.... poor thing lost everything in GOT

Considering what disappointments Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow became as the series drew to an end and how the majority of the truly interesting and intriguing characters had been killed off, I am not sure how much of a loss this truly is.

I think a good possible antagonist for a Jon Snow series would be if it came from an Aria series. She sails west of westeros, finds a big bad, fights and loses, and here comes big brother to the rescue or something. Kind of like a Thanos. Where she goes west, finds a big bad and maybe instead of fighting directly she gets into a small skirmish which results in a retreat back to westeros to find Jon/Bran and let them know a new warlord is coming or some shit. Then Jon Snow reluctantly comes to everyones aid, saves the seven kingdoms, and is welcomed back to the South to reign as king. Just a thought. lol

Snow would been an excellent follow up but they possibly didn’t have enough material to make a compelling story for the series They could come back to this they have the out structure of something great it has to be worthy of the lofty heights that H.o.T.D. Is at I think this is a case of quality control

I dunno. There's a story there. Like, a political one...maybe something like the north and Wildlings trading with the six kingdoms? Him being forced into diplomacy? Probably wouldn't last more than a season or two, but one of the best things about GOT was the political intrigue. Of course, you'd need a talented writing team.

I’d love to see a sequel focused on him coming to terms with everything that has happened and learning to live with it happily. Maybe becoming selfish for a bit before realizing the wildfolk need him. As for a villain in the series. I’d love to see greyworm come back for a little revenge. It’s lower scale but he had some real anger and I’d enjoy seeing him again.

My problem with HOTD is that it’s all very same-ish. What was so engrossing in GoT was all the variety of different cultures and power structures that had evolved due to each kingdom’s unique environment and history. HOTD does not have the same complex dynamics at play in them. Arya’s explorations could provide that. Does she then open Westeros up to threats from the west? Or does she become the threat from the East to them? Exploring themes of colonisation would bring in a whole other audience beyond the jocks who love a story about war and conquest. There is HUGE potential in combining Arya’s travels with Snow and a continuing story of how a god-king functions in Westeros.

Like so many others, this is a bummer for me...the more GoT content the better, I love the whole story/universe that GRRM created and it takes my mind off of the troubled world we live in here. But if they didn't have anything compelling to use (no good story line written), then holding off is smart. Putting out bad and/or watered-down content would only hurt the GoT brand. As I was taught as a kid and it has served me well in life, if you aren't going to do it right, then don't do it at all. That doesn't mean quit everything, it means put your all into something and do it to the best of your ability (or maybe prioritize something else until you are able to give 110% on this particular thing). I could see them resurrecting this idea down the road when they have a better idea of what they could do with it. You also have to understand this in the context of HBO and traditional media companies right now. Their entire business model has been turned on its head with streaming / cord cutting from traditional cable / and direct-to-customer models. A lot of these companies are struggling with how they make this work going forward, and one or two big mistakes (money-wise) could sink them. Just a lot of uncertainty with these companies at the moment. And any GoT series is going to cost them BIG money to make, and lots of time to make (which makes it even more expensive considering the cost of capital now via high interest rates). So until they are ready to do this in a way that they think is going to be A+ and well-received by fans, it's probably a smart business decision to put it on the back burner. Let's just hope they nail House of the Dragon season 2. If they keep getting the current stuff right, the new content will eventually come down the road.

Just throw the whole damn year away

Yup--only one I'd be interested in seeing. Or a prequel with the characters we care about (Ned and all.)

I feel soo bad for kit Harrington. You can see he genuinely cares soo much about playing Jon snow.... But unfortunately I dont see him ever reprising the role. The last two seasons were criminal. If they wanted to continue the story of got from where it left off they'd have to bring back all the entire cast (sooner rather than later, theyre not getting any younger + they'd have to continue paying them the big bucks, kit, Emilia, lena and others were reportedly doing 1.2 million per episode season 8 lol) and stitch a narrative that not only compensated for season 8 but also told a story worthy of a continuation and tbh, a zombie army with ice demons is hard to beat. - I think it'd be best if they just remade GOT in the future, with a whole new cast (start them off on entry level pay lol)... and start off from season 3 or 4. Theyd also have the chance to fully integrate plotlines and characters from the books that the show lacked. - They can just keep pumping out these prequels out. They have plenty of material. so that by the time the final book comes out (probably after George dies, lets be honest here, homie is most likely insecure to put it out there at this point) They'll have enough material to really send off the show in proper way this time, and make bucket loads of cash for sure.

I am surprised that they’ve cancelled but there is only so much of GRRM to go round. I think it would be a huge hit if Martin worked on it and they combined Arya’s travels west of Westeros with Snow and with guest appearances with Sansa and others. GRRM loves to weave in inspiration from history and every story of travelling east of east from the real world could be used. Marco Polo, The Silk Road, the Vikings landing in America could provide jumping off points. And there is Drogon roaming around too. Don’t tell me no adventurers aren’t trying to find more dragon eggs for their own reasons.
