As a fan of Henry, I’m so glad he is finding his footing now. Even saying to an interviewer for the first time he feels like he has his hands on the wheel of his career and is steering it where he actually wants to go. That is truly awesome and that on a personal level he’s going to be a dad. Something he’s said for over a decade that he longed for. I will miss him as Geralt, but if it means he does stuff he loves instead then that’s great.

Weird. The show couldn’t make it happen without the guy who fought to get the show off the ground, fought to be Geralt and then proceeded to fight to keep his character true to the original source material… I am very un-shocked by this.

Opposite with the fallout tv show, it leaned into the game heavily, the fans promoted it and everyone else watched it

As a Polish fan of the books and games, I'm glad that it finally happened. Writers completely massacred the whole story. This whole show is 10x more epic fail, than the last season of Game of Thrones. I do respect Henry, though - he is a true fan and quitting was the best he could do.

The reason for the drop in viewership in season 3 was because they decided to take the show away from Geralt, which played a part in why Henry left, so the writers messed this up big time.

I really like Liam Hemsworth and if he had played Geralt from the beginning I would probably be OK with it. However, replacing Henry Cavill puts a different spin on it. He is a really hard act to follow.

This is so sad. An actor like Henry Cavill who have this rare trait of Being respectful towards the original story. A person who thinks about the fans, and who loves the work more than anyone. If a Human like Henry is treated like shit for just being honest towards the storyline, then the future of Cinema is in dark hands. Dark hands of Productions teams like Netflix and DC who doesn't care about storyline and doesn't give enough respect to their actors. Henry Cavill has always stood up against the wrong doing of these production teams and has always tried to stick up to the originality of the character as much as he can. Its heartbreaking to see how actors are treated because of their Honesty and Purity. Henry Deserves more.

Good, I’m happy that it’s ending, the show died when Cavill left. The fact that Henry Cavill had a better understanding of the source material than the writers, director and producers just proves how bad the next two seasons are going to be.

I'm sure Blood Origin also didn't help improve this tailspin. In fact, Blood Origin likely contributed to making more fans hate the series.

Nobody was gonna watch it without Cavill. The man keeps getting d*cked around but he just keeps rolling with the punches. My favorite actor, hands down. Much respect for him and this show doesn’t deserve a 4th season.

So many people mistakenly say that in the books Ciri is the main character. Ugh. Like Charlie says here, the first few books are pretty much all about Geralt. Later on Ciri DOES become a main character, but not THE main character. The story is then split between Ciri and Geralt. Geralt is very much so the main character.

Yes and no. The "first few books" aren't really the series they're a collection of short stories that act as a prequels to set the world in the readers mind. The actual series is very much about BOTH Geralt and Ciri. They are intertwined by destiny, they also see themselves as father and daughter. Neither is the "main character" over the other, they are written as co-equally important.

A bit dramatic are you? It's not ending any time soon and it's actually getting an ending.

This surprises exactly no one. Cavill carried this series into being and fought tooth and nail for it every step of the way. When he parted ways with the show, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say Liam Hemsworth had impossible shoes to fill. Execs had a compelling grim dark franchise on their hands and fumbled it so badly, it's mind-boggling. I don't even watch this series and that was obvious from a mile away.

No one with a functioning brain is surprised by this. Netflix said, "Hey DC hold my beer". They taught us how you truly ruin something. Henry deserves much better.

I feel so sorry for Henry Cavill. I hope the Warhammer series comes to reality, the guy deserves it.

I wanted a Witcher show, and it was obvious by season 2 we weren't going to get a story true to the source. I'm surprised it actually made this far. So long to "The Witcher"

I mean, who didn't see this coming? The biggest draw about the show was watching the world's most handsome nerd play the titular role in one of the properties he geeks out over. The writers and showrunners wouldn't let the show actually be The Witcher, though, and literally tried to damage his career when he asked to actually play the role he was cast in. So he noped out, and his audience left with him (at least those who hadn't already). Too bad for Liam Hemsworth that he has to carry that albatross for a season, but at least it's not for any longer than that...

I think they proved that an animated Witcher show would be amazing tho

soon as I heard he quit I didn’t watch the following season, even though he was in it. I just didn’t want to continue the story. I didn’t wanna get excited and then disappointed for cliffhangers. Best to be forgotten.

Switching off the main actor is the least of the problems for this show. Okx maybe not exactly the least but even without switching this show is on a downward spiral.

He's still perfect for 007. I continue to have hope. I can't imagine Aaron Taylor-Johnson saying "My name's Bond, James Bond." His voice is too high.

Frankly, it's what the writers and director deserve. It's a shame it doesn't end now instead. The Witcher showed great potential, and it could have been incredible. But they disrespected the source material one too many times (and pushed Henry away). It's a loved franchise for a reason. If it ain't broken, don't "fix" it.

It’s more like “what makes me think the show is going to be worth watching given the last two seasons?” I am not upset about Henry Cavil leaving. I am upset over the reasons that led to his departure, which suggest that the writers have learnt nothing. Doesn’t seem like the last two seasons will have anything that makes it worth watching and that it’s effectively dead in the water.

This just reminded me, I've gotta finish reading all the books which are actually good.

I read the books, and I thought the last ones did not have that much story. Everyone was running from everyone - I think they easily fit this into 2 seasons. But I'm glad they make an ending and don't just cancel it in the middle of the story.

Just imagine if they hadn't rushed the shit outta the books, and gave us time to breathe with these characters. Even season one which was fairly decent.. felt like a frantic race to get as much plot into eyeballs as possible- if it isn't action people are losing interest. Did nobody learn from game of thrones? rushing to action scenes that are unearned and uninspired is an issue.

You can't screw up beloved characters and expect your show to survive.

The problem is the industry itself. There is huge chunk of writers working today that have no interest in simply adapting someone elses work and think they can do it better and hijack the name and fame of the IP to then "tell their own better story".

Look at the intro here and all the writers who we know from Cavill himself dont care about the source material and made that clear to him. Is anyone really surprised that the show is wrapping up in short order.

I LOVE Lawrence Fishburn……WHY THE FUCK is he being cast as Regis? I really believe these people haven’t read the books whatsoever.

because one good actor (Henry Cavil) left so they wanted to cast another famous actor to see if it brings viewership to the next seasons. I like Lawrence Fishburn as well but he isn't going to make me watch the next seasons, cuz the problem with this show isn't the actors

Now Henry Cavill can dedicate his time for the small Marvel- Wolverine part, and War Hammer project.

The problem with the Witcher was the writing and the direction of making stuff up. That’s the reason why it’s been cancelled. Also it’s Netflix policy to do five seasons that’s it. A lot of things are ending the planning to do the Narnia Chronicles movies for Netflix if that comes around.

I canceled my Netflix subscription when Henry left. Yes, there are other decent shows on Netflix, but this was a deal breaker for me. I hope Netflix management is reading this, but they probably don't care.

I just really hope Liam takes this role seriously. I'll watch, because I'm a fan of The Witcher story. Cavill will always be MY Witcher, but I won't hate on Liam just because he's got huge shows to fill.

Imagine the story going on without mentioning anything about Geralt being changed at all, and every shot of Geralt in Season 4 NOT SHOWING HIS FACE AT ALL. I have a feeling this is how silly it's going to be.

I think reason so many people dropped between season 1 and 3 was a 2 part thing. One they had announced that Henry Cavil was leaving, people started to abandon ship preventing heart break. Two Netflix had started cracking down on password sharing, lol. That really reduced views, on its own.

I’m only surprised it didn’t happen sooner, we all knew how it would play out after the announcement that Caviil would be leaving. They messed up something that SHOULD have been GREAT. I hope those writers NEVER get another job again.

Maybe the Ciri jumps universes and pulls him into their world? And the current one dies or something?

And now there's rumor that Cavill is threatening to leave the Amazon Warhammer series...

wouldn't surprise me if the rumor is true after what Warhammer 40K did recently to their loyal fans. With that said, Henry and his gf are Executive Producers on Warhammer show that means that they are the ones in charge of the main decisions

Beau DeMayo was fired by Disney before the premiere of X-Men 97. So it seems that people who want to stick to the lore of established characters aren't wanted by the executives, at all.

People already hate this show when they announce the cast. But because cavill was there, they give this show a chance. And they think after ditching cabill, ruined the cast, they will have a chance? They didnt really learn anything from bebop live action

I haven’t played the games, but I’m a great fan of the books. So I’m gonna watch the series in order to see how they would push the plot forward. But I honestly hate what they did to the characters of Emhyr and Cahir - they are so cool in the books.

I love the books. Listening to the audio ones for me third listen through. Season 1 I felt they represented the books ok with having g to squeeze in the first two books worth of material. Season 2 was so out there. It did not follow the books at all and there was stuff made up. I think people who had not read the books probably found it ok. Third Season I felt they were more back on track and following the book events better.

​@@skittles4375 the problem with season 3 is that you cannot fix all those stupid things they did in season 2. Yennefer was ruined. All this subplot with writing letters to Geralt was butchered because they didn't understand what it was about in the books. Yennefer trying to take Ciri's powers was stupid, the same with Vesemir trying to make trial of the grass on Ciri. Hookers in Kaer Morhen, Eskel made into a tree, some witch as a source of Ciri's powers. Those are changes beyond redemption.

Also in the original plan, they were supposed to make several other spin-off series and animation movies, they were basically trying to make a witcher-verse, so they also cancelled all the other projects related to the witcher.

so... season 3 was so terrible that people (myself included) just stopped watching around the middle, then the SAGAFTRA strike... and they "really" planned to come back? Where is the surprise in this cancellation? I don't understand the video and the title. The big surprise would have been that they got Herny to come back and fired the hacks that were writting the first 3 seasons.

Why not just hire new show runners, writers and producers, bring Caville back as Exec Producer, and save the show? We'd all watch it if we knew HC was back, it was the writers they killed it.

Im so stoked that the fans got behind Cavill and his choice to leave the role as Geralt, because he did a great job and deserves so much better treatment.
