The point of the "you people" line is to show that the Mutants are becoming fed up with humanity, they are equally as angry as the humans. They are tired of them as when Magneto says "ENOUGH" at the end of the episode and declared war.

​@@AbitofEverything4UI kinda loved the " you people" and "I was born this way" lines. It's kinda like if we are looking at the symbolism it really shows that the hate goes both ways. If we are looking at it from a both sides sort of way, it kind of shows that the humans have a point. Hate begets hate. Sure we are on the X-Men's side... But we are humans. It's like the newer planet of the apes movies. Sure we love Caesar but do we want humans to all be conquered. Or the " born this way" line, he was. He kinda of is a mutant. An ai mutant but he is very much the same as them just the opposite side of the coin. Reminds me of what they did on first class. It showed magneto hate humans because of the Ho lo caust... But the person that really caused his pain was Sebastian Shaw... Another mutant. Kind of showing that our hate for each other comes from a hate from within our selves. Or in days of future past, where Trask hates mutants. I don't know if the director would ever admit to it, but I feel the insinuation by hiring a little person is the hatred of yourself that makes you hate others. He was born different and hates everyone else that was born different too. A jealousy if you will. Much better imo when they give a broader idea of what being mutant (or symbolically human) really is.

I wonder if they can't stop Bastion,so instead the bring Apocalypse into the fold to at least give mutants a fighting chance in the future. And yes of course he brings Gambit back as death. I really hope the do Apocalypse correctly.

Just a small nitpick that's mostly unrelated to the breakdown: unlike with mutants, a mutate's powers don't have genetic origins, they are generally developed due to contact with outside sources like radiation, chemicals or serums

Very true. Mutate's abilites are experiment or accidentally. In Comics there connection between mutant and mutate that the Giant Robots put genetic potential of mutate in early humans.

Good point...Hulk ultimately got his powers from the gamma radiation and Spider-Man from the bite, making them mutates. Yeah, it sure seems like Bastion is a mutant rather than a mutate, imo.

Ah Nightcrawler, one of my favorite X-Men. He's so wise in this show, really a great addition to the team! Really hope we see more members joining (Emma, Kitty, Colossus!) Also, great commentary on that "you people" line, spot on. Such an important message and one I'm really glad they're tacking here... this series just keeps getting better and better

Does make sense since Nimrod The self-repairing Sentinel is part of Bastion's biology, that his Prime Sentinel sleepers could also fix their dismemberment.

i've been binging X-Men 97 episodes and your videos on them one by one, love your content! and I wanted to say four things here before i forget them: 1. something you seem to have missed is that around the time when cable was explaining all of the future stuff to the team, i think they snuck in a light reference to the movie Logan because morph says something along the lines of "oh, another dystopia where logan is the last to die?", though idk how much sense it makes in-universe since we haven't really seen many logans dying in dystopian settings, or how morph would even know of any such stuff if it did happen lol 2. a detail that adds to the guess that the second blackbird to be destroyed was the one in genosha, is that the bike that gambit used in the final battle of the genosha episode looked to be the same colour scheme as both the blackbird and the porsche from this episode, and he would've just flown the blackbird if it was still functional. maybe at some point between the first blackbird being destroyed in 97 and the genosha episode, beast must've watched the nolan batman trilogy and was inspired by the idea to put in a backup ground vehicle in their jets lol. 3. okay this one is a very minor one, but from the previous episodes it seems you might've forgotten that back in the original run rogue and kurt already found out that they were siblings and howso, and we also knew that mystique was indeed kurt's mother and not his father like some of the comics, since we saw kurt's birth and backstory the original run as well lol. 4. that timeline visual was cool, especially with it having a starting point (like the 616 Loom in Loki) and an end (also like the end of the time stream, the void iirc, in Loki), and i also love that it was tweaked to be different in its own way since it's not the same universe and not the same loom.... but how does it make sense for this universe to have timeline branches when it's always had linear back-to-the-future-esque time travel? i mean that's the reason why all of the original run's time travel episodes worked the way they did, and the time travel logic is still the same based on the stuff in this episode. it was a cool easter egg and i did love it's design, but oh my days does it mess with our understanding of this universe i had some more things in mind when watching earlier videos but i thought commenting on older videos would be weird, so i didn't and now i've forgot them haha, anyways keep up the good work! your videos are always charm to watch!

I thought about mentioning Morph's line, but I agree with you that it didn't make alot of sense that Morph knew about the Logan movie's timeline and I also figured it was something that most people picked up on from a joke standpoint. But I agree, I should have still touched on it. 2. Great points about the Blackbird being destroyed at Genosha. That makes me all the more convinced that the second on was the one was indeed lost at Genosha. 3. Believe it or not, I had few comments stating that Mystique was his father in the animated series, based on the storyline from the comics. So I added my comment in this vid to make sure it was clear that they weren't following the comics. I was surprised anyone commented like, that, but it was at least 2 or 3 people. 4. I agree, it seemed strange that we saw branches, since it seems the X-Verse uses BTTF logic. But perhaps it creates a branch, even though the current timeline is re-written? I'm saying that since Deadpool traveled to the Wolverine: Origins timeline to kill the lame Deadpool in Deadpool 2, even thought that timeline was seemingly erased. So perhaps it creates a "back-up" branch at the same time it re-writes the current timeline? Thanks again for all the great feedback. I love reading it!

This show is really the first time I've ever heard of Bastion, who boy is he powerful. Also I've heard about the Spider-Man and Doctor Doom cameos before I saw the episode, but I was really caught off guard by Zemo

I agree...Bastion is definitely powerful...he's the perfect villain for this season. And I loved the Zemo cameo!

Your videos always help me place things in my own cinematic multiverse watch order and your previous X-Men video helped me make sense of so much that previously had me dumbfounded. Genuinely can not wait for that spider-man video as it will allow me to place X-Men and spider-man together in one timeline and then have the other 90s shows branch of those shows during time travel events. Awesome channel and the work is greatly appreciated.

The cameos in this episode were crazy! When 97 wraps up for the Season and we get the Assembled episode on making 97, I intend to go watch all the 90s Marvel shows because it definitely seems like they're setting things up. Even if there are no other true sequel series, these characters could join in the fun in future X-Men 97 episodes and make callbacks to any appearances from the original shows. When it happened for a few quick shots in X-Men, I think part of it was just to show that there is this larger world out there, but these days, that's not enough, you better have them play a bigger part in the future. And speaking of the future, I don't know how we're going to get out of this without time travel, but it means having to go back further than Genosha, except Genosha is an absolute point, meaning that it's always attacked by something. I don't really get how you can travel back much further than that absolute point, but time travel is always weird. How do you get lost in a time stream to be sent further into the 40th Century? How did people know what to do with Cable as a baby? And then with Cable, was he supposed to be the first mutant turned into a Sentinel? Is that what Sinister was doing with the techno organic virus? Is that part of the whole Bastion plot? Those tubes everyone was being lowered into were the same green as the one Cable was in as a baby. I'm not going to pretend I know how this all works, but the human/sentinel hybrids have all been just that, not yet mutants that could potentially be even worse. Just to touch on would or wouldn't be allowed on TV in the 90s, Wolverine's actions probably wouldn't have been quite as graphic, but I bet you could have gotten away with some of it. So long as it's not red and so long as nothing living is being brutally murdered, I bet it could have made it past the censors at the time. We see that these folks can't be killed and they're all purple and green inside. If anything would have caused a problem, it's possible that because they are still human in a way and you see they're faces, it would be an issue. Samurai Jack was only a few years later beginning in 2001, but he fights a lot of horde robots and monsters that ooze other colors. It wasn't until the Adult Swim resurrection for a true final Season that we finally saw some blood, and it actually freaks Jack out at first because he never wants to kill, and when he does, it's never human. Some purple and green ooze on people that can put themselves back together though, I don't know, seems okay to me. How many kids can even get their hands on swords or even knives anyway? Probably more than I would care to know, but there's a reason why toy versions of those things exist.

@@AbitofEverything4U Yeah, anything they're setting up with Spider-Man, Cpatain America, and the other Cameos, I'm talking long term, like Season 3. Sprinkle in a few characters here and there to get folks talking, have an extended scene or even a dedicated episode every now and then, and then you have something so big that everyone has to get involved. If this is in fact counting toward the Multiverse Saga, that sounds like it could be an incursion. Imagine that.

Really hope Beau can get rehired for sure, he's been doing great work despite not working for Marvel anymore. As for the idea of time travel, it's not impossible but it's pretty much unlikely which is a bold move. Same as the case was with Tech in Bad Batch. But could he get resurrected? Of course, this is Marvel. As for Jean's line, if you listen closely you hear a D as she cuts off so I took that as cutting off the word died. The Jean and Madelyne stuff is so great though, it's such an interesting subject. Also wow never caught Nightcrawler in the run segment of the opening, nice catch. The Bishop and Cable separation was ... interesting. Really hope they go into it more eventually. I will say I love how much it's tied into things from the original series you'd have never guessed in a million years. I'd also say Jean is acting like a protective Aunt but yeah the parenting in this episode was great. Also I think you meant to say Bastion's plan, but it'd be funny if it was Bishop's plan haha. And yes, please please please give us X-Factor. Had no idea that was another Summers kid, great catch. Also wow I completely missed the timeline depiction ... I swear this is why you're the best Marvel KZreadr man. Also, I don't miss dial-up I can tell you that. And yeah, I thought it was funny Jean mentioning about the Blackbird count to Scott. Either way looking forward to the next episodes!

@@AbitofEverything4U Also, I think Beaus tweet can help Sony. They claim to have no MCU connections. That technically wouldn't be wrong if you argued that Tobey and Andrew are on the Sony Tree and only crossed over with the MCU via Incursions. Though the Earth-19999 thing kinda shoots this in the foot. The only problem is that Spider-Verse sorta implies that every Spider-Man, including Earth-19999, somehow exists all as one tree. Which I guess is fine but kinda strange. Maybe he meant that every Spider-Man has their own tree but has similar canon events. However, he said the tree was "everything"

I think you nailed it in that last comment you made. I think each Spider-Man has their own tree, but the web of life and destiny connects those trees via the canon events. That's my theory at this point, but hopefully BTSV clarifies it further.

The Astroid M connection may simply be Magneto's motivations as we move forward into this conclusion.

The FATAL ATTRACTION storyline in the comics takes place on Asteroid M, it's when Magneto breaks and attacks humanity with an EMP, killing millions. This is the starting point leading to the Onslaught crossover saga. It's super important in the comics!

Great video, I loved this episode Bastion is a great villain and I can't wait to see what he does next same with Mister Sinister. The fights were amazing especially the Wolverine and Nightcrawler one, the cameos had my jaw on the floor and the MCU references got me very interested, I can't wait for the final 2 episodes. I've seen theories that by the end of this season we could get Onslaught coming and I definitely would love for that to happen.

I think asteroid M hint was because Mags went to the poles to super charge himself to destroy Asteroid M. Much like he did with the worldwide EMP. Man the thousands of people he just took out. Nuclear reactors blowing up, planes falling, pace makers shutting down. We could be seeing Avengers Vs X-Men. But I'm betting Apocalypse is around the corner. That's how Gambit comes back as his horseman death .

Good point! Yes, I bet you're correct on that being the tie to the Asteroid M episodes. And yeah, a worldwide EMP definitely created havok for humanity...well, and for mutants, for that matter. I can see this leading to Avengers vs. X-men for sure. And a resurrected Gambit as a horseman would be insanity...imagine him fighting Rogue!

The 3rd blackbird destroyed in many months comes from the final episode of xtas “graduation day”, when magento blows it up on Genosha.

So, I wondered if the one from Graduation Day was the third one that was destroyed in the last three months...but that one was almost a year ago. Graduation Day takes place in November of 1996 and the X-Men 97 episodes run from September 1997 to November 1997. Correct, she says "This is the third Blackbird in as many months". By saying "in as many months" she is essentially saying "This is the third Blackbird in three months", since the "as many" part is referring to the earlier "three". It threw me off at first as well, but I'm pretty sure she's saying it's been three in three months.

I really like that you mentioned the line “you people” from jubilee, it’s a reminder as well as imo the whole point of magneto to show us that fighting hatred, separation and discrimination with more hatred, separation and discrimination isn’t a good thing and doesn’t work. I mean magneto is a mutant supremacist, and while he’s not always wrong overall he is. Murdering people and believing that your better then them just because your hated isn’t ok. Really loved all the cameos this episode, as well as the fights. Bastions backstory was really cool, and unfortunately I’m still a little bummed that gambit is dead. Done well though and I can’t wait to see what we have coming in the future

If you go back to episodes 2 and 3 you see that morph doesn’t copy the energy powers of magik or psylock so the idea that he can only copy physical powers has been consistent, I wonder if experimentation by sinister caused morph to become such a powerful shapeshifter

Oh! Wow, you are the first person to mention that. But I checked the transcript for the first episode of the 2-parter and you are absolutely right (no surprise). Wild stuff! Thanks so much for pointing that out. Now, ofc, the question is why on earth they used that audio in a way that it seemed to be referring to Bastion. That was sneaky!

My theory is that Bastion is going to be pissed off with Magneto and manages to steal either Cable or Bishops time thing to go back and kill Magneto but kills Xavier and season 2 will be Age of Apocalypse X-Men

ikr? Can't believe I said the wrong description for mutates. That said, what's your take on whether Bastion is a mutant or a mutate?

I hope Gambit returns. It's getting more and more unlikely with how the plot is going. The fact that cable said he's tried over and over and it doesn't work like it's inevitable. Professor x coming back to earth now so if they do time travel the will be back in space. The character development for rogue and magneto and cyclops. And plenty of other little things that have changed that time travel will retcon besides gambit's life. Maybe he can come back as Apocalypse horsemen. I think he was in the comics so was wolverine and obviously archangel. It would be cool to have a team of all X-Men being controlled by apocalypse. But other than that I'm not sure of a way to satisfy the fans and the story at the same time. Hopefully they can. They've done amazing so far. Each episode is better than the last.

I’m not sure it was confirmed that master mold did upload into Bastion? That was speculation, before Jean was able to look into his past. I think he’s just a kid whose father was infected with nimrod. Master mold being able to speak with bastion would make sense, but he seems not to fully be a back up of master mold

Correct, Cable was speculating...but I do think that Jean confirmed it later on. Plus, that helps explain the image in the opening credits with Master Mold and Nimrod in it. So it seems that Master Mold did indeed upload into Bastion, which makes him very scary indeed! Thanks so much for your feedback on the vid. Really appreciate it!

Yeah, I really suspect Madelyne is alive...would be such a bummer to kill her off so soon. And like wow...that Beau tweet was amazing. Hopefully a sign of good things to come with DP&W...would be awesome for the movie to make it clear that the X-Verse is in a separate tree from the main MCU.

Interesting question...perhaps by turning into quicksilver he gains the physical speed that quicksilver has? I suspect that ultimately something about quicksilver's physique lets him run so fast, but I could be wrong.

Good question. I suspect the fact that it's only physical powers that Morph can emulate means that it's not possible to reach omega level status, but maybe the series will explore that in later episodes. It's an interesting thought!

I hate to break it to you, but the nazi chat rooms were happening in 97 as well :( behind the bastards podcast did a fascinating 8 part series on how they used new forms of media, including early internet, to survive what should have been the death of their ideology. Hydra is a sickeningly apt comparison in that regard

Beast explaining an Absolute Point sounds like a Canon Event. Beast says an A.P. is a common event to every timeline that cannot be changed, which is how Miguel describes C.E.’s in Across the Spider-Verse. In What If, it’s clear that an A.P. is exclusive to one timeline otherwise Christine would die in every timeline. It only serves to further confuse and muddle all the terminology. Which is already vague and undefined for the most part in the official media.

until they reveal her to be otherwise: race swapped viper. i always thought viper was asian anywyas or at least euroasian so works for me! my possible choices are: tyger tyger, viper and madame mask. what if its an original or reimagined character? in this universe, jubilee's parents are "dead" and she was put into foster care, something that never happened in the comics. what if her parents faked their death's and that's jubilee's mom..............thats a tinfoil hat theory

You, absolute points in time are pretty strange...but I do like how it was handled in the Dr. Strange What If episode, which was one of the best of the entire series. However, regarding X-Men 97, I completely agree...I'm abit perplexed as to why Genosha is an absolute point in time. Hope they explain it in an upcoming episode!

Could be...that's a very fair criticism. But it does seem the creators want us to pay attention to the opening, since they meticulously change things each episode. But this time around I decided to use the opening credits as a way to include the character specific developments from the episode. I'm impressed by how well they are advancing everyone's story as the season progresses!
